VI.

When David had finally made up his mind, he wasn't sure if he would truly be able to defeat such atrocities in the form of zombies. They were large, very large, perhaps even up to three meters tall. They were strangely gigantic, and at this moment, David still didn't have much proficiency in his telekinesis.

Of course, he could basically generate thrusts, even at long distances, which was really helpful. However, he didn't have any significant maneuverability with the spear, which now seemed more like just a piece of iron attached to a small rod that barely fit in David's hand.

After reopening his status, David was shocked at how many points he now had in his domain.

Four hundred and sixty-four was not a small number. Besides that, he had now evolved to level twenty-five, which was truly fantastic. It didn't change his current condition in any way, and he wasn't even sure what it really meant, but it was somehow incredible.

However, what interested him the most was the strange message that appeared next to the skill he had purchased a few hours ago.

"At this very moment, capable of killing slow and weak zombies, it would be useless against injuring large and fast beings like those, which would probably quickly see the spear coming and simply grab it in their hands, causing David to lose his weapon.

The loss of his main and only weapon would mean the death of those two young people who were still alive, and obviously, his own death.

"Level up capable?"... "Does evolving even cost points? But... I gained Mastery Spear without needing to buy anything... Does this just accelerate evolution? Like playing a crappy mobile game full of microtransactions?... Screw it, it doesn't matter."

After finally purchasing that evolution, the 'I' in his skill changed to a glorious 'II,' and again he seemed to have gained some new knowledge and muscle memories about it, even though he had no muscles.

However, it was much faster than before, and David now knew he could manipulate his beloved spear broken in half a little more easily.

The rest of the points he quickly put into Mind, as mana was not important to him now, and at this moment, he had just managed to buy 12 more points, this after the cost of attributes had grown once again to 6, leaving him with the equivalent of 20 points. Now he had 47 points in Mind. These points seemed to slightly accelerate his brain's capabilities... an organ he didn't have, but because of this, his own telekinesis ability seemed a little easier to manipulate.

All of this that David planned happened in less than ten seconds, and at this moment, one of the two young women who were left, dressed in strange silver armor with a shield and sword, seemed to be the only person still capable of doing something against those two beings, as the other girl, who seemed to be something like an archer, was severely injured on the back of the other, probably on the verge of passing out.

David finally approached close enough to be recognized by all those people, and the two young women seemed to enter a state of pure despair, especially the one still standing and fighting.

The other tried to quickly get up, failing miserably in the process, only to be bitterly disappointed when she realized that the strange skeleton was not targeting her.

Thinking that maybe they were both working together to defeat her friend, she quickly despaired, trying her best to prevent this in some way, but her legs, which had just been brutally hit by one of the giant zombies, simply wouldn't respond.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

David, when he got close enough, quickly thrust his spear forward, increasing the attack power even more, and with his telekinesis, managed with relative ease to hit one of those brutes in the head.

Unfortunately, it seemed that the spear hadn't been able to penetrate perfectly, but David quickly brought his spear back, now shouting orders to both girls.

Pointing at the one on the ground, he quickly said, "Get out of there, girl, are you dumb? Do you want to get yourself and your friend killed?"

And after that, he continued, "You, red-haired girl, stop attacking, just focus on defending against these attacks. I think with one or two more hits, I can finish injuring one of these beings."

Before receiving any response from both girls, who seemed incredulous that they were listening to a skeleton, a simple monster spoke.

David quickly executed his attack again, this time aiming directly at the eyes of one of the zombies brutally.

The attack almost failed when the creature tried to defend its face, showing a clear sign of intellect, but the young woman, seeing this in milliseconds, quickly delivered a powerful blow to the creature's heart, and at that moment, David finally managed to explode the head of that creature.

Now, with only one of the enemies still alive, the task at this moment was much easier, and quickly, with their coordinated efforts, they finally managed to kill the other zombie.

Both creatures gave two points to David, which didn't disappoint him, as he already expected it, but it was simply annoying to receive the same amount of points for easy or difficult kills.

"Well, I guess the situation is resolved. I'm David, by the way." David tried to smile at this moment, but even he realized that it did more harm than good, as a skeleton capable of smiling was rather morbid.

Even though they were terrified, they didn't know what to do. This person, David, had somehow really saved them. They had just lost a great ally when this new person, or rather, this skeleton, appeared.

Their friend's body lay nearby, and it had been pulled by one of the great zombies earlier, and it was already being devoured while the other kept the fight going. Now his body was all disfigured, with his face probably devoured in one or two bites, and the rest of his body covered in blood from the battle.

The young redhead, wearing extremely expensive-looking armor, was simply exhausted at this point. All the support spells she had received from her late friend had ended, and with that came great physical fatigue throughout her body.

The young woman who was behind her clearly had broken legs but never took her eyes off David.

She held her dagger so tightly that it seemed she was holding a cross while praying for salvation.

Not that Christianity existed in this world... I probably would like it, actually. It's been a very, very long time since I've been to a church.

Not that it was David's fault, but seeing that while one had just fainted, the other was still extremely suspicious of him.

When he finally began to approach, the young woman, who clearly had no way to defend herself, spoke extremely loudly, "Don't come any closer!" She said this while pointing the dagger at David.

He actually felt sorry for the young woman.

After raising his hands as a sign of peace, David said, "I don't want to hurt you. In fact, I saw that you were in trouble, and I just came to help."

"In fact, I don't think I could even fight both of you if you were still... physically capable of combat. I'm not exactly strong, and this dungeon situation and monsters are very new to me. You must know how it is." She clearly didn't know and had no idea what that crazy talking monster was trying to communicate.

After seeing that the young woman didn't seem to lower her guard, and the other didn't seem to want to wake up, David simply decided to sit with his legs crossed while trying to communicate with the young woman.

"You know, I thought that after a century, living would be easier. It's obviously exciting and all, but it's kind of scary too. I can't explain it. Before I appeared here, everything was so... much easier. I woke up, meditated, slept, and repeated that. I was actually enjoying it. Not thinking sometimes is very nice, and now I have to think about everything, and my consciousness is definitely not used to it."

...

"What the hell do you mean by all this?" the young woman said, almost crying.

"I mean that... actually, I got lost. But well, I think skeletons can communicate, and stuff like that. I don't think it's really strange."

"This is actually very strange, you know you don't have a tongue, vocal cords, or anything, right?"

"Hm... if you look at it from this point, it makes sense." After placing his hands on his jaw, he said again, "That makes a lot of sense," in a very reflective manner. It was strange for him to think about these things. In spirit, he had always been able to speak, hear, see, and when he was human, these characteristics were inherent in his body, and now as a skeleton, he also had all of that. I guess it was just natural for him, and he hadn't even thought about it.

"Do you want some help? I think I could try to do something about this leg. Is there a hospital outside of this dungeon?"

She seemed to finally be opening up to him and started talking.

"Elie is a paladin. I think she'll be able to heal my leg when she finally wakes up."

"Ah yes, magic is really something fantastic. But is she a paladin because she's a warrior of some church? An ecclesiastical order of knights? Or does she just call herself that because of her healing and sword powers?"

...

"Alright, no need to answer, it's just that it's been a very long time since I've talked to anyone who didn't refer to themselves as the 'biggest idiot in existence.'"

"You... were an adventurer? You speak in a strange way... Maybe you were turned into a skeleton by some kind of necromancer?"

"I..."

David didn't know what to say. He obviously wouldn't reveal that he had actually been reincarnated there by some kind of god of reincarnation and that he was a human from a completely different world.

In the end, the best strategy was to do as his father always told him, "Son, never tell the truth to the IRS, and remember, tax havens are fleeting, but a complex money laundering system, can be eternal..."

David always took those words to heart and therefore always tried to be a very good liar, at least he thought he was.

"In truth, I don't know. I woke up near this dungeon one day, with no memory of my past." Lying without facial muscles was much easier than lying when you actually had a face.

"Have you been in this dungeon for a long time? I've never seen a Psion skeleton before."

"Psion, ah, you mean my telekinesis? I think I've been in this place for a few days now. Before you, I had never encountered a creature other than the typical zombies."

"Ah, it's just that we're almost on the second floor of the dungeon. We weren't supposed to have come this far, but we just got caught up in the maze of this place." David hadn't noticed any other corridors until that moment, and he was even more curious to understand how that dungeon worked. But before he could start asking about it, he quickly realized that the other girl was finally waking up.
