Chapter 33: Prelude to War

“Fuaahhh…”

Soaking in the hot spring inside my dungeon, I let out a sigh filled with pleasure. Not having to do anything for a week except for managing an automated dungeon, yep, NEET life.

After soaking in the hot spring for a few minutes, I got out and dressed myself up. Exiting the dressing room, I saw Shironeko watching anime. She was glued to the TV screen while having sparkling eyes. I just hope that the past incident never happens again. The mana levels in my dungeon are extremely low right now, so I can’t afford to create new things using my skills.

I ignore Shironeko who was happily watching the anime and head towards my computer. It’s about time that I check up on Proxy who I hadn’t checkep up on for a while now.

Booting up the PC, I quickly accessed the program to show the current situation of Proxy. What came up on screen next got me speechless.

~ Third Person POV ~

Earlier…

Proxy made a complaint about the hero directly towards the King. The King did not take this lightly and immediately commanded the guards to restrain them and toss them into the dungeon (prison) to wait for punishment.

What Proxy just did was similar to throwing mud at the King’s decision, making it intolerable to forgive, thus, the current situation.

Proxy and his bodyguards were held up inside a dungeon and chained to avoid letting them escape. Nonetheless, the measures taken were useless against Proxy and his bodyguards, but Proxy never did anything to oppose the King. If he did oppose them the moment they were restrained, it may be a cause to incite a feudal war between the Kingdom and Granc.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

This situation was mostly impossible to happen, but because of various circumstances, this was an exception.

Guards were posted here and there to prevent an escape. The others were tasked to give them food one time a day only as per punishment for insulting the King. Again, this was useless because Proxy and his bodyguards do not require intake of food or liquid.

Spending their time like this, after a few hours, guards came up on the cell bars and called out towards the three.

“Hey! Your punishment was decided.”

A guard in particular spoke to them as if they were criminals who have done an indescribable sin. The guad looked at them like he was looking at trash that should be disposed in this world.

“Tomorrow, when the bell tolls at noon, you three are going to be executed via beheading.”

While speaking in a disgusted manner, Proxy and his bodyguards had indifferent faces. Even if they were slashed or sliced by a high leveled swordsman with a high grade sword, it would at most, just lightly wound them.

But the guard took that expression differently as he thought that they must be scared shitless. A disgusting grin formed on his face as he looked at the three with disgust and scorn.

After that, the guard, along with his colleagues left and spoke something about going to the brothels. Since this was unnecessary information, Proxy ignored it and quielty kept to himself inside the dungeon.

… So, they are going to be executed tomorrow at noon, huh…

While thinking about that, cold sweat poured down my back and I nervously let out a chuckle.

Why did this happen?

The number one question that I want an answer to right now is this. I gave Proxy the [Negotiation] skill, so it shouldn’t have ended up like this.

While pondering on what happened, Shironeko came up to me and snuggled with my body.

“Mnyaa… Mashter…”

… It seems that she has just finished watching anime and wants to sleep. I pat her head and soon after, I heard sleeping noises.

“Fuu~ Suu~~”

… Cute…

Feeling refreshed because of Shironeko, I stopped pondering and decided to contact Proxy via telepathy using the computer. It works just like a program, kind of like an SMS type of messaging.

First, I sent a message on submitting a report about the important parts. The next thing that appeared was a long essay about a certain religion, along with the events inside the castle.

Reading its contents, I understood what would very likely happen in the near future. And because it is necesarry, it looks like it can’t be avoided.

I never thought that it would happen in just a span of a month and a week, but it looks like war is coming.
