Chapter 13

Sun Hee's forward momentum was to be her doom as she couldn't the dodge the electrified strike.

Zap!

Five sharp claws slightly dug into Nabih’s arm as the shark knife claws were stopped by the seemingly normal skin. At the same vain however, the electricity should've stung Petro but the grabbed limb refused to budge. It was an industrial machine versus a normal human's strength and of course one would be powerless to resist.

Nabih threw a high kick combined with the ice power's to make the vampire back off. Unsurprisingly, Petro's stepped back.

“I don’t mind if I, we, are not forgiven. I only hope that you can watch me prove my sincerity to better the world in the future.”

“Hmph. I’ll watch you. Rat.”

"Izo Shelley, you seem close to him. I hope if he ever becomes a problem you know what to do."

Nabih patted Izo's shoulder. Perhaps due to the intensity of his actions, Izo only saw him as scary but right now, hidden from most people's view, he could see that the Atlantean was teary eyed.

Nabih waited for his answer.

"Definitely."

He nodded and before he left he clasped hard in a forceful manner. It wasn't to hurt Izo but maybe to make him remember his word of promise.

Nabih finally left. The camp sighed in relief. It could’ve escalated but was thankfully resolved in relative peace.

“Don’t worry, I’ll watch him.”

Svana shouted to the listening mass. It further deescalated the situation.

Izo knew that was #31 but he couldn’t help looking at her as if in question ‘can you handle him?’. She laughed.

“Atlantean.”

“Ah.”

“Not the same powers as him or as skillful but restraining won't be a problem. Sigh. I didn’t know him before this but I knew there were more extreme Atlanteans out in the world.”

“Is there an Atlantean city somewhere in the world?”

“Ah. You’re thinking of fictional Atlantis, eh?”

Svana who was blond and looked Norwegian was completely different than Nabih even if one assumed that her 182 cm/6'0 height was correlation to Atlantean's being blessed by height. She wore a trendy jacket looking more fashionable than other soldier type's here.

“No, there isn’t Atlantis. In fact, the modern Atlantean bloodline only began appearing again in the 70’s. With our being pulled in the Nexus and the connecting of Earth, we suspect it was caused by the massive population increase.”

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“Anyway, let me handle him. Nabih’s not evil, in fact he’s normally very calm and laid back.”

She inserted her hands on her pockets.

“You know you looked so handsome earlier.”

Izo, who was about to say he understood, choked on his saliva.

“Lose some weight though.”

She giggled.

‘I’m blushing, aren’t I? No, I have to leave.’

Petro's listeners were whispering with each other, arguing even but they finally agreed on something. They proposed it to the vampire and after a little more arguing he exasperatedly gave up. Izo could only hear something about practicing Faith Gathering'.

'I'm glad they're happy at least.'

“Everyone, let’s get back to our own business. The Nexus trials will truly begin tomorrow. Let’s prepare diligently.”

Sun Hee was dispersing the bystanders. Izo still remembered how she was going to block Nabih's strike for him.

‘Should I say thanks?’

Perhaps, she read his mind but she smirked and pointed her nose at the sky.

“Say it? Afraid huh? So ungrateful?”

“Thank you, Sun Hee.”

“Can’t even say a few words to a woman.”

“I might’ve been hurt if it weren’t for you.”

“I knew it! You c-c-can’t even say…”

Her hands fell limp to her side and her mouth was formed a cute oval. Then, like a unexpected morning rain, a faint mist appeared in her eyes.

“How could say something so embarrassing!”

She bolted faster than Izo could run away from her earlier.

“Wait, Sun Hee. We still haven’t eaten! Where are you going?”

“Tsk. Tsk. How could you let a woman cry fella.”

“That’s right. That’s right. Too careless.”

The fellow candidates with him jeered at Izo and jokingly clicked their tongues at them. A few of them even gave advice, looking like sage not poets but sage drunkards enjoying their hard liquor in a smelly pub.

“Um. I only said thanks?”

“Director Talcum!”

“What is it?”

A grouchy golem colored dirty white wearing blue mage robes answered. He was sat on a wide chair in the center of a room where tens of others were meditating. No, they only looked to be meditating, instead they were connected to the Nexusnet and were monitoring the candidate camps.

“There’s been an event on the Earth camp. Come see this?”

[ Video received from staff #31. ]

Talcum watched it intensely. At the start, he was speculating what would happen but second after second of footage changed his emotion. It was represented by colors of the light and the more intense the emotion the more light coming out of him. The more emotions, the more colors.

What started as faint light as if a thick and tinted car window blocked the passing of street lights and shops. Soon enough whether the glass grew thin or the light grew bright, rainbow colored illuminated the room. It was glowing so brightly; it disturbed his staff’s connection to the Nexusnet.

“This- The tension. The drama. The explosive and real emotion of the participants. This is television! No, this is- this is cinema! CINEMA!”

“Director Talcum! Director Talcum!”

“We must leave!”

The staff run out of the room in panic. Non-mage Golems when they were too excited would only shine bright but powerful mage Golems like their boss could definitely explode.

Alarm blares rang out of the broadcast division of the Nexus Central Office. Security streamed to the area. Most them had non-lethal but very potent sealing spiritual skills.

“Seal the Director!”

“Seal!”

Each one of them used their abilities. Some of them had pure spiritual bindings, some converted their spirituality to other matters, all of them worked together to prevent the gigantic power and the loss of a B+ mage.

When Talcum woke up, he was in the treatment wing. He remembered what happened and immediately tried to get out of bed.

Straps restrained him however. Even with all his struggle nothing happened. He thought about using mana but he couldn’t scrounge even a bit.

“Let me go! I need to go. To make. To make cinema! CINEMA!”

[ Incoming call from Young Zarina ]

Talcum answered it instantly for his mistress was his best home of getting back to the studio.

“Make him a star.”

He was confused at first but he immediately understood. No, his heart would’ve forced him to understand it in such a way.

“No, Young Zarina.”

“?”

“I’ll make him cinema.”
