Chapter 9: Green Treasure Chest

Chapter 9: Green Treasure Chest

Benjamin frowned slightly and secretly sighed in his heart. After verifying his guess in his heart, he decisively tried another method, which was fire.

Benjamin, relying on his [Mastery of Fire Element Basics], carefully lit the tree on fire from all sides. The flames leaped around the tree as if they were a group of happy little elves. As the tree's branches gradually burned to ash, Benjamin quickly told Fluffy to dig up the seeds under the ground and throw them into the fire. As the seeds were destroyed by the fire, Benjamin finally saw that the target in the task prompt was only 46 fruit trees left.

Benjamin picked three more fruit trees and set them on fire.

By now, his storage space was full of [Explosive Fruit Trees]. He decided to put his plan into action.

“Now it's time for revenge.”

Benjamin retraced his steps back to the tree. The path was easy to find, as it was marked by the giant footprints of the wild boars. The trees that had been knocked down by the wild boars and the soil that had been turned up were all signs for Benjamin to find his way.

Benjamin observed the terrain and selected a huge tree. He crouches down and starts digging a pit under the tree. His hands grip the tool tightly as he digs the soil with all his strength. However, after a while, he feels that the progress is too slow. So, he decisively starts using [Alchemy].

Under the tree, a deep pit similar to a moat gradually takes shape. Benjamin carefully arranges [Explosive Fruit] at the bottom of the pit. Thinking about the frustration of being forced to run today, he doesn't hesitate to put most of the inventory in his storage space.

Benjamin used spider silk to make a simple support over the pit, then covered it with dead branches and leaves to make it as indistinguishable as possible from the surrounding ground. An insidious trap was thus complete.

“Now you won't get away with it,”

Benjamin said, a smug smile creeping up the corner of his mouth.

After setting the trap, Benjamin went to the place where he had previously found the wild boar. His steps were light and cautious. When he arrived, he found that the wild boar was indeed still there.

The wild boar was nibbling on some wild fruit on the ground, its mouth moving as it concentrated. Sensing someone approaching, it looked up warily, its small eyes glowing menacingly. Then it saw the guy it had been chasing for half a day.

Benjamin took a deep breath to calm himself down as he noticed the wild boar looking at him. He folded his arms and slowly extended his right hand, pointing his index finger at the wild boar and giving it a double flick.

Then he shouted, “Come here!”His voice was loud and powerful, echoing through the forest.

The wild boar's eyes flared with anger, and it charged at Benjamin, roaring. It didn't care about anything else, it was determined to kill the bastard today.

So the chase began again. It was the same path, and it felt familiar. Benjamin, the one being chased, ran quickly, his figure weaving through the forest. Finally, he saw the tree with the trap in front of him. He quickly shot out the spider silk and pulled himself up the tree.

As he watched the wild boar charge forward with unstoppable momentum, Benjamin took his opportunity and swung to a distant tree using the spider silk, before quickly taking cover.

Looking at the wild boar again, even though its keen instincts told it that something was wrong, it had already charged too hard to stop in time and crashed headfirst into the tree.

Boom~ Boom~ Boom~

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

A loud explosion sounded in the area, and a large flock of birds were startled into the air. They flapped their wings and chirped in panic. The ground shook violently as if a small earthquake had occurred.

Hearing the explosion, Benjamin, who was hiding in the distance, did not immediately go to see this spectacular scene. He tilted his chin slightly, turned his back to the explosion, and reached up to gently run his hand through his hair. He looked quite dashing.

“A hero never looks back at an explosion.”

As the shock of the explosion gradually dissipated, Benjamin slowly turned around and returned after putting on an act. He walked with steady steps towards the explosion site to look for the wild boar that had been blown away. All he could see was a scene of chaos, with the earth blown up in all directions and the trees blown over.

“Judging by the state of things, that wild boar died a horrible death,”

Benjamin looked at the wild boar, which had been blown to pieces, and a complex of emotions welled up in his heart. He felt both a sense of satisfaction after revenge and a trace of awe for life.

[You have killed an Earth Armor Wild Boar]

[You have obtained 1% of the source of the world]

[You have obtained Green Treasure Chest]

“It really did drop,”

said an excited Benjamin, picking up the [Green Treasure Chest] that had fallen to the ground and holding it tightly in his hands. His eyes shone with anticipation. Benjamin then used [Collection] on the corpse of the wild boar to obtain materials.

[You obtained Wild Boar Meat.]

[You obtained Wild Boar Hide.]

[You obtained Wild Boar Tusk×2.]

Unlike the white materials collected from the small animals that the system does not recognize, the materials from the wild boar are all green in quality. Benjamin carefully observed the materials, speculating that Cooking with Wild Boar Meat should have a different effect.

“The great revenge has been avenged, and now it's time to find that dead monkey. But where should I look?”

Benjamin frowned and fell into deep thought. Sometimes, things just happen to coincide. Just as Benjamin had the thought of settling the score with the monkey, he heard a noise behind him. He looked back and saw a monkey poking its head out from behind a tree, curiously observing the scene of the explosion.

When the monkey realized that Benjamin had seen it, it didn't panic, but instead once again showed that look of defiance. Its intelligent eyes were full of mischief and defiance. Then the monkey climbed up the tree branch nimbly and quickly escaped with the help of the vines.

It had to be said that the monkey's curiosity was really strong. While all the other beasts had immediately fled from the area when they heard the explosion, it had explored in the direction of the sound.

“Don't you run! Stop right there!”

Benjamin was furious when he saw the monkey's insolent expression. His anger grew and he immediately ignored everything else and chased after the monkey in the direction it had fled.

However, during the chase, Benjamin had to admit that he was not as agile as the monkey in the forest. But that was fine, he was not like that stupid pig.

“The biggest difference between humans and mindless beasts is that humans can use tools.”

Benjamin sneered, took out the Explosive Fruit from the storage space, and threw it at the dead monkey.
