Clicking sounds echoed in the surroundings, making Allan uncomfortably wince his head. He was wondering what it was, and it seemed it went right from Zigmund.
Snorting while he clicked with a three-headed emblem between his fingers, a clicking sound echoed afterward from this metallic emblem. “What if you were given an opportunity to find your home?”
“Why do you ask?” Allan said, frowning.
“Just answer it... As is. Think of this as a hypothetical situation, and hopeful thought.”
“Depends on the opportunity,” Allan said, sighting. “I am pretty sure it isn't anything easy as I imagine. Nor is it something one can think about freely. To find a way home within the cosmos... How far it could even be? Where? How to even think of that?” Allan answered a question, and worry that has been in his mind since a long while ago. He never answered it in his mind. This was the very precious moment where Zigmund forced these words, and Allan's motivation out.
Zigmund hesitated even more, unsure of what even his own intentions were. He was sure of one thing, and that was to talk to Allan just by himself without Sarey in the way. Allan's words left the bitter memories that he held in fear, yet there was even some excitement about the past, within his mind.
“W-were you not even questioning one simple thought?” Zigmund asked, clicking becoming much faster.
“Which?” Allan asked, sounding rather calm after he uttered his wish that seemed all so unlikely to become a reality.
“That you, me, and all the others speak the same language,”
Zigmund revealed one thing he figured out a long time ago, while Allan didn't dare to think of it as something to be questioned. So what if languages were included on some planets? Didn't it make sense when the majority of planets with all sorts of mortals would have similar language, let alone the same?
“I didn't, really...” Allan casually answered. “Is it even something to consider? Aren't mortal worlds not infinitely interconnected with each other since time immemorial? I always assumed that languages are a necessity. They don't necessarily need history, but a vast amount of time. Like humans, mortals do.”
“You are wrong about this... Partly...” Zigmund said, leaning with his back on the wall. “There are countless connections. That is true as many lives mean opportunity and suffering. Those two words have countless variants when it comes to the flow of mortal worlds. Language is just a steady-flowing commodity to make things easier for many beings. There are many things to consider about them. Both known and unknown. There are many nations within each planet, some even hold different living beings, both terrifying and intelligent. Then, language can become a wall in brilliance. A tool to be used. A method to overcome some hurdles when it comes to certain races, nations, or kingdoms.”
“Why are you telling me that?” Allan suddenly asked as he was unsure of Zigmund's intentions. He talked with some hard meanings which were hard for Allan to discern. He could not point out the clicking sounds of the three-lion-headed emblem in Zigmund's grasp. Its sounds constantly clicked in his brain, causing him to feel nervous.
“Just some unpleasant memories of the past,” Zigmund said. “I figured you don't need any of that at the moment. Forget it.” Zigmund stepped back, reluctantly glancing at his hand that stopped playing with the lion emblem. His eyes showed hesitation, yet Allan couldn't see that, nor feel his emotions. Taking it to his pocket Zigmund left for his office.
“What was this about? Is he sober?” Allan asked himself, unaware of what had jsut happened. Like Zigmund, he returned to his journey to his room which was around the corner. Using his hands and memory of this floor, Allan was accustomed to this. In his room. finding the bed was as easy, since it was always in the same position, unchanging. Allan collapsed with his back, bouncing off of the bed into a sitting position. Then, he started breathing lightly to calm his mind after a long day.
This was the average routine of his most common day at the moment. Slight meditation on what his father taught him in a fleeting moment left some freshness in his mind. It caused diminished fatigue, a greater mentality, and a calm heart. Allan believed all of these examples were something that he needed to know. In fact, he was sure that Immortals had to have this sort of mental fortitude.
This went on for a couple of minutes. Inhaling calmly, exhaling in a shimmering breath. It was slow, in a strange pattern that was quite intriguing. Feeling a strange sensation of calmness, Allan figured it was that time again. He still had to go over everything that went wrong, or good within this day in his head. It was an obsession he never got rid of since his mind was always the only thing that can visualize things, while his eyes can't.
“Huh... This is, interesting, but I am already missing the heat of forging.” Allan sighed, resting his breathing for a bit. “I bet I could make a fortune from it, but no opportunity will be there, I guess.” He mumbled under his nose.
Taking his robe off, he took some trousers that he had by a side of the bed. Then he unfolded his legs from the cross-legged position to lay down since Sarey will come back quite soon.
In this position, Allan was beginning his visualization technique which was nothing more than a simple imagination. “Zigmund was rather strange today. It all started with Sarey's idea, which then turned to his drunken self and then this fleeing questions.. coming from him.” Allan thought, “Considering what I know about the people of the Tricloud Alliance, I can't figure out the reasons for his questions. I doubt, without him telling something himself, I won't get it. Sarey is always so worked out with him and his secrets, so I supposed he wanted to talk to be one on one. Why?” he asked himself, yet couldn't find a plausible answer.
“Fine. I won't question myself too much. My head is hurting because of it. But for the topic of languages, I am interested. He thought I did not speculate about it? The language of my world is surely something that is spoken on more occasions. Especially considering the questionable origin of it, since I learned quite a lot about the history of our calendar year. Though, there could be some lies or hideous stuff. Of course... I wouldn't be surprised, and Zigmudn implied something as well. Does he know something that shouldn't be known to mortals? Impossible... This is a planetary issue, and nothing else. Though, what if Immortals created such things, thus making the core languages to each of them doesn't seems far-fetched. That, or why not create a single langue for the sake of ease? Shouldn't it make sense?”
Allan speculated, frowned, scowled, and followed myriad of thoughts that went over his mind or not. He was honestly curious about them, yet there was nothing to them but guesses. He had his own feelings, memories, and opinions, but what about the facts, logic, and undeniability? Could he trust written content that could be easily false?
Allan knew one fact, and that was the far, far history of his world. Tens of thousands of years into the past weren't clear in the present world, nor were there too many writings from that time period. There were humans. Normal kinds, albeit a little savage and poor.
As for the last present figure, there was the new year celebration of the year 31 543. Though, this could all mean nothing if it was just a made-up number. Allan was unsure about its implication, nor the reason why every nation worked around an already inflated number.
One could only get used to this, question, it but dare to think twice about it. It was one thing that never changed. Year by year, the number went higher, while this number, meant a myriad of questionable pasts. Many scholars could have tried countless times to perceive the past, intercept the truth of it and follow it to the future.
“On the other hand, I have not really asked about anything about Sarey's world. I may know a lot, and nothing indicated some sort of lie. But, it would mean too many of numerous things. Continent, culture, or anything is not me as the world around me.”
“Forget it... I guess Zigmund said the truth that I don't need these... feelings. If he meant it like that. Things to bother me, hurt me, or punish me when I am barely functioning as a normal human being, aren't welcomed.”
Swoosh! Beng!
The door swung open, hitting a wall as Sarey walked inside. She surprised Allana a little with her brazen entrance, causing him to jolt back to a seated position. Wearing a silk dark robe on herself, an embroidered metallic pin made her hair into a slick tail that flowed down her back. She appeared quite different to the naked eye. Unfortunately, Allan couldn't perceive that.
“Care for some stabbing, Allan?” she asked in a refreshed mood after having a welcomed bath.
“Does my unwillingness matter?” Allan said. “Since it's something you do every day since it's necessary, should you ask? Do you think my answer will change the fact that I feel alright and rested already?”
“No. I don't think it will at all. It's not about recovery every time.” Sarey said, dismissing everything as she walked to his bed. “Now” she slapped Allan's shoulder. ” Get on your back, and let it be over with. I have some book to read tonight since I didn't expect to be your poor toy in the spar.” Sarey said mockingly, jumping to the bed to start this acupoint therapy straight away. For some reason, she didn't have her needles ready. They were stored below Allan's bed, providing a good hiding spot and easy access.
“A-alright, why so in hurry?” Allan winced as she pushed him to the lying position. Though, he did so more in willingness, since he already laid down before she even came here.
“Nothing.” She said, grabbing the box and starting the insertion of needles in order of diagram 36 prepared beforehand. This was the same one she performed quite a few times before, and it posed no threat. Even if she was flustered, angry, or with a mind wandering the starry sky, she always did these things with proper technique and no mistakes.
Founding correct spots were easy for her eyesight, and her unshakeable hands proved to be her next best tool. The fact of touch, seeing, and feeling Allan's body also played an important part. Although, she still had to be cautious of any potential problems that may occur. After all, there was a strange course of that heat, that caused some pain when she performed an acupoint diagram that was forbidden to use.
Ever since then, she was cautious, afraid that she would do something unforgivable to him.
