Chapter 25: At least it’s harder to kill me now.

‘Falls off the bed’ “Crash, what the hell is going on!... right not my normal massive bed”. Drawing my face into a thin line I mentally berate myself for morning fog. Anyway, I am up now so time to start work on the day. Kick dirt up as I get off the ground with a dramatic stretch. Can't wait to get home! Even with a long journey ahead of me – nothing to do but put one foot in front of the other, or wings I suppose.

Hastily making sure I have everything gathered; not very hard since I only placed a bed down. Double-checking the pearls, damned thing! Caused me no end of trouble. No doubt I will end up in the same situation for even higher rarity items such as ore like osmium. Not looking forward to it.

I start steadily making my way home. I thought I'd try and see if I could make it home without the golden compass. After an hour I check the compass and find I am lost, of course, my navigation skills are useless. ‘sweeping a gaze across the landscape’ I see nothing to note, makes sense since I have been here before; disappointing still. Doublechecking the compass often to stay on the right track, I keep an eye out for clay since I could use a little more. ‘Gathering clay humming a tune from the earth’ Digging sure is boring hu.

I guess it would be fun if I had a giant mega drill I could zoom through the earth with, but that’s but a future dream. Mentally drifting in and out of possible yet faraway futures. Snapping myself out of my daydreams I find this vein of clay – exhausted.

Continuing my trip, I comb through my mind for projects I should work on to make my life easier. The longer I spend here the harder it is to recall things from my previous life; it's scary really, little things, a random face here a city name there. Small yet every drop drains the ocean. “Will I one day only remember my life here?” ‘shivering from the thought’ “Yeah let's make a diary when I get home”.

Some simple things that come to mind, quarries, or other means of auto-mining like digital miners. Although the latter needs osmium. Teleportation, so home is not such a hassle reach. I am thing draconic craft for this but I will need to sniff around the nether for draconium. Also elevators, the wool, and ender pearl type, so my homes are far simpler to move through. Protective measures; on the backburner as it's not immediately needed but would be a good idea for precautionary measures. For this, I have a couple of ideas, the first being the shiel generator from RF tools, a little labor intensive but extremely flexible. I also thought this would go well with the magic pencil from open blocks. Odd choice? No, it is not if you are familiar with the item. It places a barrier, that is invisible, untouchable, and impossible to interact with. So functionally it’s a super cool barrier that stops people. Sadly if you know how it's really easy to defeat but that’s the best part? It’s not well known and hard to figure out. But that leaves teleportation as a potential bypass. For that I thought of thaumcraft warding, it stops teleportation so warding the pencil blocks or even placing a glass dome over the immediate island and warding it may be ideal.

Until I have an actual threat it's foolish for me to implement all 3 so I will choose 1 and add the other 2 if I deem it needed. I think RF tools is best, for now, the pencil blocks you can push tools through so it must be made a distance away to stop people breaking the edges of your home and warding takes a lot of research. And well it’s the least likely to have been changed by Felix.

Finally! After what felt longer than it likely was I reach home ‘landing gracefully upon my island’. “First things first, ender pearl seeds” Got to play it safe. Surprisingly, it’s just at the Imperio level, taking some time I quickly produce the seed [Enderman seed]. Crossbreeding it to produce a second. Then going through the long process of breeding it until it reaches 5, 5, 5. ‘Shaking the aches out of my joint’ “you know what? I’m beginning to despise farming”.

With essence in hand, I quickly craft a sizable quantity of ender pearls – finally! Causing me endless trouble.

Immediately going to my alloy smelter, I combine gold, Glowstone, and Redstone to produce energetic allow, followed by converting a portion of that material into vibrant alloy. ‘whistles a happy tune’ Watching the alloy furnace produce such a magical alloy makes me happy.

Taking some vibrant alloy I combine it with conduit binder to make the best, original wires. Of course other; better wires exist. But this wire moves enough power to carry me into mid-late game.

Quickly switching out all my cables for Ender energy conduits, I now have a far faster energy network. I can't wait to have wireless power; this is still great though. ‘Mindlessly collecting large quantities of obsidian, glass, iron, black carpet, emeralds, ender pearls, Redstone, Lapis, oak wood, wires’ “What am I crafting you ask? Simple a rudimentary form of immortality, cheap hmmm!”

Going down into the cavern, I go even deeper into the spike that was ceiled off, inside that cavity, I get to work. First lighting the blood space up. I create an obsidian bunker, a room made out of obsidian, with vibrant cables bring power down here through an obsidian tunnel. The entrance and exit are simple, a small winding tunnel of obsidian, just to keep at direct viewing of the room. “So glad I grabbed tons of obsidian when I had the chance.”

Placing a crafting table I start crafting 2 items. A shell constructor and shell storage, I produce 2 constructors and 5 storage. They all require sync cores which cost, annoyingly one ender pearl each. They are actually very expensive but I have the supplies. ‘carefully placing the 2 high structures’ “hmmm now the sucky part” mindlessly appreciating the fact it connects to my power system easily, the treadmill system it comes with is terrible.

‘slowly inspecting the structure’ I notice a small space outside of the glass viewing area, it has a handprint and a small iron prong inside. ‘Placing my hand onto the shell constructor’ It begins to make a loud noise, ‘rumble’ and with sudden silence ‘strike’. ‘Hand recoiling in pain’ Couldn’t help but yelp in pain, “evil machine!” I say in a sharp tone.

I knew it would happen, still hurt like hell. My hand is bleeding heavily. One golden apple later – good as new! Now to do it again with the second constructor. Glancing over at the first one its started, mechanical components descending and rising from many different compartments. Like a 3D printer starts building a structure, vaguely shaped like me. Pumping out different liquids step by step, seeing the bones being calcified muscles, solidified and the skin painted on – “Creepy”.

Biting the bullet, I sacrifice my hand to this distressing machine. So glad healing items exist. This time I didn’t yelp but it still hurt just as much. ‘shoulders relaxing’ At least it's done for now. “Looks like it's going to take some time” I am not surprised, suppose it's time to do something productive. Not including the farm, il leave that for later.

Taking the opportunity to even further expand my power system, using some leftover materials I have all the seeds for the materials I have at my disposal. Excluding the highest tier; emeralds, diamonds that kind of stuff. While I was doing that I had the alloy smelter pump out dark steel: obsidian, coal dust, and iron. I also had it producing some soularium: Soulsand and gold. Both important items for crafting.

Using some diamond and emerald I also produce pulsating crystals and vibrant crystals, just the gem and the nuggets of the respective ingot.

‘flying to the local forest’ I share shearing large quantities of leaves. Taking them back I get the sag mill producing the clippings I need. Using those with a slimeball makes the industrial green dye. While I am at it I make an industrial black dye. 6 coal powder and one slime each.

With all that work I head back to the clone lab downstairs. Checking the shells I find 2 perfect duplicates of my body, iron skin and all. ‘touching the glass’ “it's so strange looking at yourself asleep”. I made sure to separate one of the cell storage surrounding it with blocks. My real body will stay inside it, it's rather cramped in this room. ‘walking up to the special shell storage’ I sure as hell hope this stops the aging process otherwise my best bet is human clones and a true body being a vampire. ‘Hesitantly, I step inside the device; back against the soft padding’ As I rest my head back the doors start to close; my heart rate beating in my ear, it's terrifying being locked in a storage system. Suddenly with a wave of tiredness my eyes close by themselves, I attempt to resist before I feel a pulling sensation in my body, my chest, and head. Finding myself in a grey world I see arrows of color, gold for my real body and blue for my 2 new clones. ‘Mentally directing my will towards one of the arrows’. Suddenly I feel a large pull as the world zooms by in less than a second before I find myself heavy like I am being weighed down massively. With slight difficulty, I open my eyes.

My vision unfocused at first quickly forms back into normal vision. ‘Stepping out’ I almost stumble realizing It feels ever so slightly off. Pushing out from the comfortable cocoon I find myself in a different part of the small room, leaving the shell constructor. It closes behind me. Looking around I see my second clone; “it worked, I'm in a clone”. After acclimating to my new body I quickly get the shell constructor started on producing another, as much as it pains me.

Before I entered I left my gear just outside the shell storage. Before equipping it I enter my second clone and get the process started for the 4th clone. With that done I collect my gear and bid the room farewell, for now. The golden bag snapped to the new body with me, I guess it really is your soul that moves.

Exiting the room I find my way back upstairs ‘stomach grumbling’. “Suppose I've never eaten in this body, let us fix that” finding my way to my rudimentary fridge I grab some bread and jam. ‘walking slowly’ I need to get accustomed to my new body. It’s the same somewhat but the difference is my first body has had weeks of normal environmental wear and tear this one is a genetically brand new body. Thankfully given the similarity in the body, it is quickly becoming easier to move in. “Am I a non-corporeal existence now if I can change my mortal coil at will?” ‘pondering the though’ ‘quickly getting the bread toasted and jam spread’ with mouthful I appreciate the sweet treat jam on toast is. ‘wandering up the stairs, toast in hand’ Not even bothering to fly I step into my room, quickly taking out a book and pen [made with black dye water and glass]. I begin to write about my past life: small things like my family's names, historical events of the earth I recall. I even wrote about Hitler and the great world wars. Aside from earth I also wrote all about Felix, everything we talked about, and my thoughts and theories on his existence.

Deep into the night only the sound of a quickly scribbling pen, after writing all I could my hand aches but I push on, writing my diary as far back as when I first appeared detailing every day I could recall and idle thoughts I remember having. ‘slamming the book shut dramatically’ “I will write some more later, I can feel the blood pumping through my hand it hurts that much”

‘Making an ender chest’, I store it safely within, this book being of great importance. You can lose everything and then craft it again but you cant restore lost memories. Making them live's the greatest treasure. ‘resting my head on my head, I dream of the stars and different worlds’ With dying; no longer being a concern I have far more freedom, the worlds the limit, let us make the most of it.
