Chapter 19: The journey – part 4
Excerpt from an unnamed geographer's book of wonders of the world.
“Exploring the vast wilderness for much of my life, it is my second home. I have documented hundreds of different biomes and variations with complex ecosystems. Yet I’m always surprised by the vast world we live within. Sometimes taking months walking forward to pass a humble grassland. With all the wonders of this world, my life's mission will not be complete until I have found every biome or until death takes me.”
Struggling to wake up, muscle aches wracking my body. I go to smack my alarm only fall out of my bed. “Right no alarm” Old habits die hard I guess. Sitting up in my bed, foggy mind clearing up quickly, I fall on my back dramatically, this is getting tiresome. I have been on this ship for weeks.
Doing my best to hold back a sigh I yawn instead, “This sucks, ocean, ocean and more ocean!” holding my head in annoyance. I have food, water, and shelter but the constant movement, the trapping feeling of being in the same place constantly. The walls are beginning to feel cramped, constricting. Even outside on deck it feels suffocating knowing I cant pass the fence I created. I don’t even have sufficient room to build something cool or resources to do so.
This trip is important, I fundamentally understand that. If I want a home as grand as I dream, that forest is not the optimal choice, I also have nearly no chance to find civilization inside it. Yet I can't help but bang my head against the wall, the same 4 walls the constant rolling oceans, I'm tired of it.
Working on mods help, but I haven’t got unlimited resources, I have a lot but they quickly deplete with these material hungry mods. The distraction was as appreciated as much as the rewards for doing said task. But still, I cant constantly work on mods. I have no one to talk to. I think if I didn’t have the slime and spider as pets I would leave this ship insane.
I never expected such a trip to take not only a stupidly long time but also to be so boring and lonely. No one to talk to nothing to do, no wifi. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t know the water was full of lethal threats, which the Kraken illustrated.
I do hope land appears soon, as I think until I have an actual jet I won't be doing many more long journeys.
I guess il do some more magical crops, little else to do really. It’s the least material hungry mod I can work on right now as far as I am aware, with limitations, size primarily.
Creating a small 3x3 crop of minicio to fund this little venture, all sped up with liquid time to passively produce the materials I will need. They grow to maturity every few minutes so I will be grabbing them every moment I can.
With that sorted, I take my freshly produced minicio and surround 2 gold blocks. Producing 2 Weak infusion stones, the center point of this mod. For every 4 minicio crafted with said stone, 1 Accio is produced.
Realizing I cannot craft this all manually even if it’s a relatively simple craft I make a wonderful tool from RF tools. Pardon the pun, the crafter Tier 1. A neat little device for auto crafting, rather limited and by no means fast but sufficient for what I need.
It's very cheap mostly iron, restone, gold and lapis. I craft a couple of them I will need a few. With that complete, I make a basic coal generator out of iron, taking some copper I make basic copper wires, not insulated so I place wool sheets around it for safety, don’t have to craft every I suppose. With a crafter in hand, it powered by a coal generator I create 2 hoppers one feeding material in, with a chest on top and one withdrawing the produced material at the bottom into another chest; god I love hoppers.
With that complete, I open up the simple computer panel and with a drag and drop grid input the recipe for Accio. With that complete, I have a functional auto crafting system producing all the Accio I need without me depriving my own energy.
With that done I take that fresh Accio and use it in conjunction with 4 coal a minicio seed and 4 Accio to produce coal seeds; producing 2. Repeating the same process I did for the minicio seeds, the coal seeds get upgraded until 5 5 5. Not amazing but neither my time nor patience is infinite, it will do.
Creating a 2x2 plot of land growing exclusively coal, I have very little space remaining on top of my ship.
With the coal now growing, and with its buffs visibly growing to the naked eye – creepy “shivers”. I check NEI I find an auto harvester, a simple wooden structure you place on top of the crop. Slow, low quality, and shoddy but until I have an Ender io farmer it will do. I place the harvester onto the coal plants and funnel the materials into a chest using transfer pipes and a transfer node from extra utilities. A simple stone, Redstone, and glass, so easy it should be illegal.
Taking those same items I funnel them through the same tier 1 crafter which I use the second crafting template to automate coal production. Taking that now, automatically being produced coal; all be it slow. I pipe it into the generator creating a self-sufficient energy generator functionally running the whole mod for now.

I have a creed, “it should be zero maintenance”. Which I stand by with automation, although sometimes I must maintain harder to automate stuff.
With that complete, I set up auto harvesting for the minicio crops producing a steady drip of Accio. Perfection, it's ugly as all hell but perfect all the same. It is painful watching how slow the whole system is but I have a little bit of juice left in the generator and I even have enough coal to sustain several more.
Siphoning some coal essence off the crafter I use it to produce the next quality of infusion stone – regular infusion stone. Inventive name right “chuckles”. Anyway, with this, I produce 4 Crucio essences, took all my Accio I had produced so far but worth it by a long shot. Taking the opportunity I have a choice of many seeds I can produce but it comes down to copper or obsidian. Copper, I will need a lot of would be good to get it out the way, whereas I hate mining obsidian! I am ready to be done with it.
I will have the chance to produce both so I choose obsidian, it’s a good building material so it will come in handy. With my choice set, I craft a single seed of obsidian which took me about an hour to crossbreed a second from a minicio crops, must be an easy way. None the less with 2 seeds in hand I do my best to upgrade the quality to 5 5 5, same as all other seeds until I find a really good one.
Automating only 2 obsidian plants, not much room left. I build high in this case crafting plenty of obsidian. With my deck looking like a knock off for the steampunk city I choose to cut it out, for now, this is getting crazy. Occupied my time, yes. Achieved something excellently useful, yes. But now my deck is ugly so, I sigh in resignation. When I reach the land I will build the best home. I should have crossed the forest, this is stupid. No point stressing about it now, I chose my choice. Nothing to do but see it through, at least I won't die from lack of food, water, or exposure to the elements.
With magical crops automated it frees up time for me to do other things like watching the ocean for no reason. Lovely. By automating I gave myself more free time but little to do with it. I should have grabbed some resonating Redstone crystals, a rare drop from Redstone ore but I simply didn’t harvest enough Redstone, didn’t think ahead.
I wonder if I could make a functional nether portal on the ship? Tell you what of course I can but it’s a stupid idea because I could potentially lose my ship. Let us not do anything stupid like that until I have a home. I will definitely need “flight”, which’s a given for a floating island type home. I don’t need it technically but it’s the difference between a crawl and a full sprint.
Currently, I have a few options for flight, the end game magical crops, side benefit of giving me lots of materials, I will be progressing along with it no matter which choice I make. Sadly its armour, which is not the best, good but is easily not as good as other options so it is restrictive. Bat DNA infusion, which gives me flight, although I feel it is likely to have changed from creative flight to more closely related to wings. Would be cool but would also hurt like a son of a bitch. I can also get my hands on a nether star which gives tons of options for flight the easiest being the flight girdle. And finally, an angel ring, which really just needs functional grid power and actual animals.
Sadly it’s a wide variety of animals and it seems less than ethical to trap them inside a ring. I think this one will be at the bottom of the list. Well if I see a bat I will collect as many skin samples as possible and then capture the bat in a golden lasso. Wait I don’t own any golden lassos, I was foolish. Immediately crafting just about 4 of the useful buggers I stash them inside my golden bag. They are very cheap thankfully.
Thinking over it I could likely keep my pets safe within the lasso but they should be named for safety, crafting a name tag with string and paper I place them in the anvil and begin to think of names, long overdue.
For the slime… hmm? Lime would be too easy how about sling since slime slings are a thing. Yes sounds good.
And the spider, the hard one, is very smart I don’t exactly know its gender or how to check hmmm. Something like “chic” the dutch word for smart, sounds good. Chic it is.
Quickly finding my slime, dissolving some potato skins I left out, the bloody thing is a living garbage can. Place the nametag onto the slime I find it disintegrates into light particles which flow into the creature. “Nice to meet you sling” it vibrates slightly but does nothing more, patting the jello I go find its sibling.
The spider was not in its room as far as I can find, so after a thorough search and a slight panic attack, it was hiding under my bed, cheeky sod.
In frustration I place the name tag on a little harder then I should but still within restraint, drawing my mouth into a thin line I was as the spider spins around in confusion before looking at me with its eyes. “sigh, nice to meet you Chi” I say before screaming slightly as it jumps onto my chest and nuzzles my neck, “scared a year of my life you big pain” I say as I gently stroke the clearly grateful little spider.
I am glad it's happy, when I look at them now I almost instinctually have there name on the tip of my tongue, a weird sensation to say the least.
I noticed now that I have accumulated a decent amount of time in my bottle, 1/10 full. Not bad id say it can fit about 1-2 months maybe more, you never know with magical objects. Not bad at least, I even sleep with it now too useful.
Heading back up to deck I find a good 32 Accio, not bad, I use the obsidian essence to produce a stronger orb the strong infusion stone. Then converting that Accio into Crucio and that Crucio into Imperio. With 8 Imperio in hand, I go ahead and create blaze and slime seeds. An odd choice at first glance but I can always get more gold and iron but I have limited exotic resources, the slime I managed to get together after sling dropped a couple, now I don’t have to harvest my pet and personally, I don’t want to have to fight any more blazes. More essence with generating and then I will produce even more seeds, but for now, this is fine. Taking my time to set up an auto harvester and crafter, I managed to crossbreed until I have 2 of each before setting everything up, for now, I don’t bother improving them, I could use some rest and they are not a high priority.
As I head to my small cabin with my bed in it I glance overlooking at the horizon, pausing in my step “land!” positively turning around and sprinting towards the front of the ship I see it “land” here I come.
