Chapter 15: Good Gear – finally
“Cracks back” “only took 2 days to heal such a small wound. Impressive though; without health potions after all – added to the list!
Finally, I can get some good enchantments, gotta have the best for my gear. I craft the remaining bookshelves to max out my enchanting table, I will upgrade to an advanced enchantment table at my earliest convenience!
None the less, spending a good few hours, mass-producing essence berries. After a short while, I think I will test out the time I have accumulated during the 2 days I was out of action.
Within what I think is common sense, I open the bottle and pour the time upon the bushes. It was a right-click item before but it should work; “as suspected” it worked. The more ‘time’ I pour upon them the faster they produce berries, perfect! Exactly how I hoped it would work; the time in the bottle already showing its worth.
I spent a small chunk of my time, figuratively and literally “laughing to my self” I produce a large number of essence berries.
With that in mind, I prepare the ingredients for my new gear; originally I intended diamond gear, but I was foolish, spectral iron is a thing. Crafting enough spectral iron to produce armour and a full set of tools, I get to preparing the enchants.
I worked towards getting protection as a priority which I managed to get in exchange for lots of failed enchanted books.
Haste for the boots, night vision as well for my helmet; additionally I got both jump boost and fire resistance for the leggings and unbreaking 2 on all items along with protection 4. Yes, I spent a good 8 hours, farming the berries, making books, enchanting then combining books with my new anvil, necessitated by insistent min-maxing. Worth it though, I now have sparkly new armour that I can trust; upon looking at it, I am impressed. A visor covers the face but the slit is large enough to not have my vision obscured too much.
The armour looks seamless, yet has wonderfully intricate guards and additional plates over the joint and shoulders; a second skin almost, fitted; more decorative then my iron counterpart, I love it. Makes me feel special.
But – my weary bones ache from the boring process of producing the wonderful enchants I wanted. I need something to relax; fishing! What a great idea. Immediately crafting a fishing rod, a tiresome process I am pushing upon my limits for crafting. I must rest for a while now.
Enchanting it quickly, luck of the sea 2, lure 1, unbreaking 2; not bad!.
I head over to the river, the beautiful yet frighteningly violent river I am neighbours too. Building a small dock to sit upon, I make a seat out of 3 bits of wood and some wool. Best I can do without crafting, or patience.
Siting upon my new throne I start fishing, using what little I know of in the past in fishing; not done personally but I am not nieve to its workings. I place a small quantity of pumpkin to the hook: bait is limited right now.
With that done, I sit back; relax and let the hook do the work. I by no means trust my self to cast the rod long, with some cool winding motion. I simply toss it with 2 flicks back and forward.
It took a short while; almost sleeping from the sound of the water rushing past, I get a tug. Here we go, reeling in slowly pulling back, then giving some slack I make a little headway. “swoosh” and the line broke, hook intact but my fish has escaped. A shame but I am no master, only to try again. “siting with a peaceful smile upon my face”.
I spent a long time – peacefully fishing. I never thought much of the hobby, but just being in the moment, a calm breeze; waves of water washing by. The gently bobbing of the hook. Its really the moment, time for thinking. Sat in that perfect haze.
I wonder how one would become a God from the earth, he implied everything is energy. Cultivation was not really a thing on earth, not to a degree that would result in becoming a god anyway. 2 routes I can think possible: Dying, becoming a soul and growing through your soul form and the technological pinnacle. Who knows maybe every God is different, different ways they got there, different powers from the method they used to reach the power they have. An interesting thought.
I will have to dig at Felixes wealth of information when I can, perhaps I can ask that as a reward when he finally gives me tasks. I am both happy and sad I have no tasks; irritated he things I am too weak to handle them (very true) but I also do need more time to set foundations down and accumulate enough strength to not die to a dragon coughing.

Shaking out the deep reverie I am inside, I get back to my day. Can't sit around all day; all be it an excellent break from the active and dangerous days I fill my existence with. Ask my old self about this being my future? Yeah, I would surely laugh at you, or say “what are you on” and walk on [likely the latter].
While it's hot on my mind, I choose health potions, so I won't be caught off guard again, I refuse to die! Il will do my best at least; health potions, I am so stupid such a basic need. I will work on getting melons but first, a basic lifesaver, collecting an apple and gold [apple from the massive quantity of trees I have cut, I also grab a second apple, a sapling and combine them magically inside the odd structure the “crafting table”. Producing an apple tree, which I immediately plant, to have a stable supply of apples of course. I produce 2 golden apples, given they gift the consumer with regeneration and absorption, should save me in a pinch - I hope.
Taking some time to turn some more earth, with my hoe of course! Don’t use your diamonds on a hoe they say; very true, outside of this situation which is where I make a diamond hoe for convenience. Prepping the earth for another blast of random seeds, I go on a little adventure – down the path. Quickly breaking grass with a few axe swings; collecting a massive variety of seeds.
I take time to sort the seeds I have used before, storing them or discarding them if I have enough already. 4 new seeds, not bad. Maybe seeds vary from place to place. None the less it appears I did not get any melon seeds, they are rather distinctive – shame.
None the less I can potentially gather the stuff for regeneration potion and outside of that, I can prepare other healing items.
Not much left to do now before I can move to a more, permanent home. I need a form of flight to build the home I wish to; none the less I can find the location and explore in the process. I will build a simple base close to the location to hold my items, craft stuff; all good stuff.
One last thing though, this will suck but must be done, sadly. “Emeralds” with a shout “I hate you!”. But if I am going to have to work hard to gather some I will do it with style! If it’s the last thing I do.
Spending the rest of the day gathering, sand, gravel and searching for then harvesting a source of clay (real pain the ass). Crafting grout, I prepare a lot of smeltery stuff, I used the “time” to speed up the furnace. Its night now, but that’s no restriction here. Preparing more bricks then I plan to use, for a more permanent smeltery of course. I also create an extra tank, which I will use before I leave for something special.
I prepare the needed implements, before quickly setting up the smeltery. 2 lava buckets, that will do I suppose. Smelting large quantities of gold, I create all the required stencils I will need “All of them!”. May as well I suppose, all stored in a chest I can quickly stick on my ship and take with me.
Taking all this I make… “imaginary drums - a hammer”. Infinitely useful for cutting through lots of rock.
I sleep away my exhaustion ready for the final task. Waking up, groggy. Time is rarely the same without an alarm clock or a consistent time of slumber, I can likely craft one but not now, no need.
I quickly get on my little jet, taking the opportunity to fly to the mountain; the base of it anyway. Using the chunk device, I keep going until I enter a chunk with a sizable amount of emeralds, I then tunnel inside the chunk and start digging down in 3x3x1 steps. Beautiful right? Doing this 1x1x1 would be far too inefficient.
Regularly taking breaks to preserve my back I manage to strike emeralds in short order. Quickly crafting a divining rod for emeralds I combine them all with string, a multi divining rod, the pinnacle of vanilla ore finding; I waited so long.
Journey times are long, eating up the day quickly but taking a further trip back I gather an ungodly quantity of emeralds, burning the day like a crappy candle. I can't be sure I will find another source easily, and backtracking sucks.
With the final goal achieved I start preparing my airship, I land my jet on top to take with me. It takes a stretch but I manage to move it all before nightfall, all the chests anyway. I take time to dismantle my smeltery, gathering all lose materials, deconstructing my nether portal. My base is now a skeleton of what it once was.
The final touches involve putting my slime friend, or should I say; slightly larger slime friend onto my ship, safely away from the edge. It is kinda sad saying good by to the old camp, but I need to move to improve. I remove a chunk of the fence to allow the snow golems and iron golems to wander free. I have 2 snow golems on my ship and snow in my chests to make more anyway. I have gathered all the seeds and materials from my farms, even the foreign ones I haven’t identified yet.
I double; triple checked everything, I have gutted everything important. Stepping onto my ship and looking out one last time “sigh, this place has been good to me for sure” Just as I start to depart, movement catches my eye. “what is that?”.
“I will be damned, it’s the friendly cave spider, what is it doing?” frazzled in confusing
It jumped onto the side of my ship, what on earth. I am taken back, its always been passive, I occasionally gave it food but always very passive. It must have heard the ruckus I was making, did I domesticate it by accident?
Well with a spider hitchhiker having climbed to the top of my ship, I take a hesitant step towards it. It flinches a little but doesn’t retreat.
I just sit next to it. After a while, it comes closer and sits by me – cute. I give it a potato then take up my place on my helm, spider and slime in tow.
I guess I am not as alone as I thought. before I head out though I crest above the trees and fly towards the grove. Setting a rope ladder down, an easy craft I grapple down the ladder into the grove. I take the tank I made before, collecting the ether liquid, harvesting 5 crystal flowers; leaving 1, they do propagate apparently, not sure if its ether related or flower related.
Then just to be sure I mine under the ether, ah yes exactly what I wanted. Crystal ore, gathering at least 30 crystals I have a happy haul.
Climbing back up to my ship I take the helm, setting a course across the ocean, my golden compass with my old home tied to it I place safely in a wooden box under my bed, one day I will visit back here.
Its time for a journey!
