As Takada walks back into his classroom he sees Tooru sitting in his seat with food on his desk. He waves at Tooru as Tooru notices Takada come in.
“Hey Taka-kun you back, how was the date with Chika?” Tooru winks at Takada.
Takada jabs Tooru on the arm out of embarrassment, “Shut up Tooru it’s not like that.” Takada then thought for a moment and asked Tooru, “Wait how did you know it was Chika? Are you stalking me now?”
Tooru puts a hand on Takada's shoulder while looking him straight in the eye, "Who else would you be leaving me for during lunch other than Chika Kawasaki the girl you shouted at for her number?” Tooru puts his hands on his chest and somberly looks towards the window facing the school entrance, “Oh my young love twice struck foul by the inconspicuous cutie known as Chika Kawasaki. Oh, how my heart aches with this feeling of heartbreak,” Tooru rips his hands apart from his chest and with his eyes at his feet. “Will I ever be able to love once more with an ounce more than I loved this brazen Taka-kun?” Tooru’s theatrical performance ends with the eye sweat wiping from the students eating in the class and a generous round of applause as he takes his bow.
Takada claps along with the crowd before uttering his power play, “You will find love once more my young Tooru, and that love is called Amami-chan.” Takada gives Tooru the finger guns as Tooru falls out of character and reddens to his utter demise, disappearing into the folds of his blazer. The students in the classroom chuckle pretending not to have heard that.
As Takada is unable to stop chuckling from his masterful jab at Tooru a new figure pops into the classroom, the figure walks up to Takada and taps his shoulder. As he looks around he sees that the person who tapped his shoulder was none other than Chisa herself, he forgot for a moment that she was coming to have lunch with them and stifled his laughter. “Hey Chisa you got here quick, let me pull up a desk for you, don’t mind Tooru he is a bit embarrassed right now because of something.” Takada pulls a nearby vacant desk over to his and walks over to Tooru and pulls his desk closer as well. Tooru stays hidden in his blazer and chair and doesn’t pay attention as Takada pulls him closer.
Chisa laughs behind a hand covering her mouth cutely, “Yea I know I heard the entire play when I got to your class and didn’t want to intrude on the grand theatric, You should be an actor Akitsuki-Kun you moved me with your performance.” Her eyes twinkle in the bright classroom as she tries to hide the laugh behind her hand.
As Takada saw Chika’s charming way of laughing he blushed slightly. Takada yawns unexpectedly and looks away from Chika, but she notices from the corner of her eye and smiles. “Awe is the Sleep Mikan in need of a little nap time during lunch?” She says while tip-toeing to pat the top of his head softly.
Takada looking even more so embarrassed submits to the weariness and finds himself in the chair, pinching himself in the cheek so he can eat the lunch he has on his table. “I didn’t get much sleep because of Kawakami sensei releasing a new chapter last night.” Chika looks at him quizzically for a moment before Tooru basks his face back into the sunlight once more, explaining to her who Kawakami sensei is.
“Kawakami sensei is the author of this online novel series that Taka-kun is in love with. Taka-kun showed me some a couple pages and it looks pretty interesting for a romance novel,” Tooru goes back into hiding once more in the folds of his blazer. Chika filled with curiosity nudges Takada as if wanting something, “Takkun, can I see the novel as well? It must be good since both of you like it, I read novels from time to time as well.”
Takada upon hearing that is filled to the brim with energy once again and grabs Chika’s hand earnestly. “Yes Chika I would love to! Wait just a second let me pull it up real quick.” Chika surprised by the sudden hand grab nods awaiting the tales of this Kawakami sensei. Takada pulls it up on his phone and shows her a couple of pages from the first chapter, “Here you go, Kawakami-sensei is amazing I love her story.” He looks at her with beaming eyes as he watches her reactions as she reads the story. As she reads the story she becomes engrossed into it but pulls herself away after a while.

“Wow that really is a good story, I feel really bad for the main character since she loved him for so long only for him to reply to her confession like that. Send me the name of the story, I'll give it a read when I get home.” Chisa gives back Takada his phone and finishes eating her lunch before looking at the time. “Looks like the bell is going to ring soon, I’ll be heading back to class. I’ll see you guys later Akitsuki-kun and Takkun,” and with that, she gets up and walks out the class waving at the two guys as she leaves.
Takada waves back as well saying, “See you later Chika,” he mumbles after that, “maybe we could walk home together also.” Takada slumps down onto his chair after Chisa leaves, Tooru comes behind him and gives him a smack on the head, “Hey lover boy why didn’t you say that louder, she ain’t gonna hear you if you mumbling.” Takada looks back at him and just says, “I don’t know Tooru. Also, I’m not in love with her stop thinking that man!” Takada pushes Tooru away, making Tooru laugh a bit. “Whatever you say Taka-kun, whatever you say.”
The rest of their classmates pour into the classroom as the bell rings with their science teacher Mitsuro sensei coming in last. Mitsuro-sensei gets up to the podium before saying, “Alright class, it’s time for the quiz so get your pencils out.” Takada and Tooru look at each other with a deathly gaze. “We forgot to study during lunch!.”
After turning in their papers Takada and Tooru let out an exhausting sigh before collapsing on top of their desks. Tooru turns around to Takada, “How did you do Taka-kun?” Takada shakes his head sadly, “I only remember the things I was awake for, and none of them were on the quiz. How about you Tooru?” Tooru looks at him semi-confidently, “I’m sure if everyone else does bad Mitsuro sensei will hopefully be more kind with his grading.”
Amami comes up to both of them clearly disappointed at them. “I’m guessing neither of you took my early warning of the quiz to go study during lunch hmm?” They both look up at her with their hands together begging for forgiveness, “It’s not like that we swear, we just got busy doing stuff during lunch and kinda forgot you told us. We won’t mess up again Amami-san please forgive us.” Amami laughs at both of them and sighs, “Alright you guys are off the hook this time, also just call me Nana, you goofballs can just call me by Nana.” They both look at her thankfully, “Yes Nana-san we shall not disappoint you.”
School finishes with Takada sleeping through the last few classes of the day, as the closing bell rings Takada is woken up by the nudge on the shoulder he thinks is Tooru. “Alright alright I’m up now Tooru let’s go home.” Takada opens his eyes to see a different person nudging him awake. In front of him was Chika, chuckling behind her hand from him she was Tooru. “Silly Takkun, Tooru left already, I told him I’d wake you up. This time I woke you up as you did for me.” Takada thoroughly surprised pinches himself to make sure it wasn’t a dream, which it was not.
With his sleepy brain still not operating completely yet he just nods and thanks her for waiting. They get up and head out to leave the school, at the entrance he looks at her and says without thinking, “Let me take you home, it’s the least I can do for you waiting for this sleepy mikan to get up.” She looks at him and smiles brightly, responding, “I would love your company on the way home if it isn’t much a hassle.”
“Not at all, I could use the walk after sleeping so much anyways haha.” They walk together in the direction of her house with her leading the way. Takada’s heart is pumping at an alarming rate as his brain wakes up and he realizes what he is doing. Takada thinks to himself, “Oh my god, how did I end up in this situation? Tooru left me and now I’m walking Chika home! That rascal is too devious, but I’ll have to thank him for this.”
Less than 10 minutes later they arrive at a baby blue two-story house and Chika stops pointing at the house. “This is my house, thank you for walking me all the way here Takkun. Is your house far? If so be careful on the way home.” Takada smiles happily, “No I’m like a block or two down so not too far. I enjoyed our walk together, thank you for letting me walk you home.”
She looks at him and smiles, grabbing his hand and squeezing them tightly with her hands before saying, “We should walk home together more, I like walking home with you. Walk home safe Takkun, see you in class tomorrow. Goodnight.” Chika walks up to the doorstep and unlocks the door and walks inside her house, waving to Takada as she closes the door leaving Takada alone in front of the porch of the baby-blue house.
Takada waves and waits for a bit as Chika gets in the house before making his way home himself. His face is beaming with happiness and delight with a weird fuzzy feeling in his chest. “I’m glad I walked her home, good job me!” With his fist pumped in the air, he triumphantly walks home giddily and finds his head on the cold pillow on top of his bed as sleepy mikan clocks out for the night after an eventful Wednesday.
