The next morning before the school bell rings

“Hey Tooru, do you know anything about Chika? Like what middle school she went to and such” Takada says while facing Tooru.

Tooru’s mouth slowly grins and he takes a loud cough before answering, “Well lover-boy, you have finally come to your best bro for the inside info huh hehe.”

Takada’s face reddens and he attempts a cough, “I’m telling you it’s not like that Tooru, I just want to know more about her because she is a good friend. So are you going to tell me or not about what you know?”

Tooru shrugs with his arms, “To tell you the truth I don’t know anything about Chika haha. I just wanted to mess with you a little, she seems like a chill girl. Kind of average to me except for how lively she seems to be. If it were me I would go for someone like Amami-san” Amami-san is Nana Amami a classmate in their class, She has wavy long brown hair and is a bit popular within the school with the boys already due to her good looks and her baking skills. Her family also owns the local bakery in the neighborhood.

“I would love to be together with a girl like Amami-san so that I could get delicious cookies and sweets from her hehe,” Tooru says while grinning and imagining it in his head.

“What was that you said about girls like me?” Tooru and Takada look behind them slowly to see Amami herself standing there looking at Tooru with her eyebrows twitching.

Tooru turned completely white and began a cold sweat, he looked towards to Takada and seemed to send a mental call for help. Which Takada promptly began whistling and looking into his bag, completely ignoring the call for help.

Tooru looked defeated as he faced Amami, “It’s not what it sounds like Amami-san, I swear I was just saying you were such a great girl that I wish I could date someone similar to you.”

Amami stumbled for a second then shouted “That’s right I am a girl you should try and go for, why wouldn’t you. Unless you are still trying to ask out Takada in which case go right ahead.”

Takada gave Tooru a questionable stare and Tooru started stammering “No no no it’s not like that at all I swear, that was only what Sensei said it isn't true at all. Right Taka-kun?” Tooru sent more calls for help to Takada.

Takada just smiled and said “well I’m not sure since he hasn't asked me the big question yet, I think he is still considering the right time,” Takada winks as he says it.

“Taka-kunnn!”

Takada and Amami laugh hysterically while Tooru just stares blankly into the air.

“Ok ok I’m just playing with you to get you back for earlier Tooru,” Takada says with his last chuckle.

Amami looks at the two of them and chuckles “Well you guys certainly are as interesting as you two seem to be. I will talk to you guys later I’m going to go study for the science quiz that’s coming up,” and she heads to her desk and pulls out a sheet of paper with notes on it.

Takada and Tooru look at each other dumbfoundedly and say at the same time, “SCIENCE QUIZZZZZ!”

“Why didn’t you tell me Tooru?!”

“How was I supposed to know I’m just watching you miraculously fall asleep in class without getting caught all the time and drawing on my notes. How about you Taka-kun?!”

“You already know I’m asleep most the time, especially because Kawakami-sensei just released her new chapter yesterday so I didn’t sleep a wink,” Takada said proudly with a thumbs up.

“Kawakami-sensei? Is that a mangaka for a manga you read?”

Takada’s eyes light up as he sees an opportunity to bring in a new follower of Kawakami-sensei, “Yea the manga is called ‘And he looked the other way’, it is a shoujo manga that is my favorite manga of all time. You should definitely read it, you will fall in love with it guaranteed, trust me.”

Tooru is startled by how excited Takada became and took a step back in surprise, “If you like it that much for sure I will check it out. There must be a reason you like it so much since you don’t seem to be the shoujo type of reader.”

“Haha yea, the story just hit my heart and I feel moved with every page. I can’t really explain it but Kawakami-sensei is the best even though almost no one knows her. She deserves much more readers and followers because she is so good, I will always be her biggest fan and supporter.”

The lunch bell rings and students start heading to the cafeteria or move desks together with friends and start talking and eating.

Takada’s phone buzzes, he checks it and it’s a message from Chika reading:

“Hey, Takkun,

I’m sorry for asking but could you come help me take some books to the teachers room again. They are asking me again because they said I am a reliable person which is great to hear from them but they are asking me to take quite a few books and I want to go eat haha. Takada smiles a bit and tells Tooru to wait for him in the classroom he will be back after he goes help Chika out.

Tooru grins and starts to shoo Takada away with his hands, then pulls down his eyelid and sticks out tongue as Takada leaves the room

Takada rolls his eyes sarcastically and heads over to Chika’s classroom.

When he gets there he sees Chika in there with a hefty amount of books on her desk. He goes up to her and shakes her shoulder saying, “Hey are you awake? Helloooo!”

She is startled and looks at him then laughs, “Yes I’m awake this time. Thanks for coming to help me.”

“Of course, I had to make sure you weren’t asleep this time because last time I came in here you were dead asleep haha.”

Takada grabs most of the books and Chika grabs the rest then they head to the teachers’ room downstairs.

“I can’t stop laughing because of yesterday when you shouted at me super loud just to ask me for my number yesterday haha. I seriously thought something was behind me ready to kill me or something. Also, I heard that you are called the Sleepy Mikan for sleeping in all your classes, maybe I should be the one checking if you aren’t asleep in class haha,” Chika lightly chuckles.

Takada laughs, “Yea haha I don’t know why I shouted either it was just spur of the moment. I’ve been told I was the Sleepy Mikan too, it’s a fitting title for me I would like to believe, sorry I took the title before you could get it,” Takada grins mischievously then triumphantly poses.

“Haha, you beat me to it Takkun you lucky mikan.” Chika playfully gives Takada a light poke to the arm with her elbow.

They get the books to the teachers’ room safely.

As they head out Takada says to Chika, “Hey you want to come eat with me and Tooru my friend? Since we both haven't eaten yet and Tooru probably still waiting for me. Although I gotta go buy some lunch first since I didn’t bring any lunch with me, what do you say?”

Chika thinks about it for a little bit then answers, “Sure I’d be glad to join you and Tooru, my friends probably didn’t wait for me anyways haha. Let me go to my classroom and grab my lunch and I’ll meet you up in your classroom okay?”

“Sure thing see you there,” and Takada and Chika part ways.
