Ch.0 Part 2. Motherland

“Nationalistic sentiments are ablaze everywhere – xenophobia and racism, anyone hates everyone but their idea and reason are of those young – alongside power struggles: youth wanting power and old wanting to maintain their superiority; the world has become a playground of the powerful and ambitious” – New York Times journalist, Makki Elisia.

Since medieval times, the connection between the east and the west has never been smooth. Even in modern times, everyone is at their throats – militarization and sanctions on the brink of total war. But the transport restrictions – the sanctioning of travels of merchandise and personnel by the great powers – do not allow such battles to happen. The Ottomans control the route to all corners of the world by land and the British, U.S, and Japanese navy control the waterways. As it stands, only viable way of travel is by air. The country with the most aerial superiority is the “neutral” nations of Switzerland and the United States of America.

After the lift on mana sanctions, most people seek freedom, and as such, those of different race and ethnicity race to be the overlord of the other. Unfortunately, rapid development of technology and social science does not allow such. Current time’s peace dove – the Tsardom of Russia, or the Great Empire of Russia, has its people prosper under a single banner – the one of the Romanovs’. Ethnic diversity is no significance in the eyes of feudal-socialism, as the people only live to survive and pay tithes to the orthodoxy.

The Hue Dynasty – the longest surviving single monarchy – is at war with Japan – the fastest growing global power. Since their isolationist doctrine disbanded by the U.S in 1853, Japan has leapt past the developed nations of Britain and France in only 30 years. Now, the first global Superpower, Japanese strategy and doctrine have changed to those of militarism and invasion. On the contrary, the Hue dynasty became dependent on the “Family of a Hundred” – one hundred people of aristocratic origin, with immense power and intellect – although powerful, they are only a hundred and, at times of war, quantity is the salvation.

Since the Age of Revolution, the classical sense of Feudalism cannot be seen in Europe, where the most powerful reside. Due to the Napoleonic wars and the earlier Seven Years’ War, most of the continent has been organized into a few great powers, almost all of them either constitutional monarchy or a multi-party democracy. One of the younger but the most industrialized nation, Germany, or the Empire of Germania, has a constitutional monarchy and power distribution all over the country. Capital of Berlin and parliament buildings in Hamburg, Munich, Leipzig, Cologne, Hanover and Konigsberg, the power distribution of the country does not have a mean central. Following the example, Britain, Russia and even the Austria-Hungary have their power in a more regional distribution – flexible and more spread out to develop their country.

From the height of their power in the 16th century, the Ottoman Empire has severed ties to the west and Europe, blocking all passage through or around their territory. Their military prowess and the extensive territory make them a force to be reckoned with. As their doctrine heavily relied on their power, mana usage in the country never fell, unlike the west, and their knowledge on the matter has greatly broadened, allowing them to make automatons with artificial intelligence and automatic engines, even before the industrial revolution. But, as their lead has fallen because of their loss in the Crimean War of 1843, the Ottomans’ dominance in European politics have declined. Their superior tech is falling behind of the rapidly developing “peace aligned” Europe, while the aggression from the east and north keep theirs’ from progressing any faster.
