This Age of today is an age of exploration, where new ideas and new dreams could take place. yet he could not feel, hear, nor see any of this dream coming to him.
Duncan put my head down on the desk and look out the window to my right. "Oh God or Goddess, can't you make my world interesting for once" Duncan sighed
Around him his classmates murmured at how unrestrained Duncan was, visibly not paying attention in class. Despite all that Duncan did they couldn't complain, Even if the teacher did call on Duncan, he would get the answer right, he would pronounce the correct meaning, pronunciation and syllable to the corresponding word, It was all the achievements of a genius that made everything in life appear easy.
A few people were jealous of Duncan but the person in question cursed his life. If there is nothing to excite him then naturally he would find his surroundings boring.
In hopes of curing his boredom he tried everything. He attempted to get addicted to material things such as books, games, even drugs, yet nothing could hold his interest for long, the books had plot holes that even the authors couldn't solve, the games were just repetitive, with little to no original content. The drugs were downright disgusting to him, he pondered about how people could lose themselves to such horrid tasting items.
Next he tried finding a person to be with, any potential friends only drew blank stares when he attempted conversations with them, the few girlfriends he did have couldn't make his heart pound or move in any way. Due to all this, he soon found it trivial to even talk to people so he just kept to himself.
The last bell of the day rang and Duncan sluggishly got up from his desk and started for home. Pulling out his phone, Duncan looked at the app store once more, as usual nothing has changed, the same boring apps that littered the front page.
Knowing that the front page was trash, Duncan decided to delve deeper into the store and under the recommended section of the page was an usual game that, for once, caught his eye.
"Hmm, Micro-Management huh? What an interesting title" Duncan murmured and he looked at the synopsis
Micro-Management is a game bestowed upon those who seek a meaning to life, is the world to hard to live in? To mysterious? to unnatural? To Boring? Then spend your time away on managing the inhabitants of the game through thick and thin from the many events and disasters that befall them. From the tiniest insects, to the most complex AI, can you keep alive?
Warning: This is a one-time offer, if you do download this game then you are subjected to the terms and service, there will be no turning back after downloading it.
Terms: You are playing with the lives of actual people, they can make decisions of their own in the time you are gone. In the event of a wipe (No survivors) you are forced to be one of the players in another person's Micro-Management game.
Duncan scoffed at the bullshit that posted in the warning and downloaded the game for the heck of it. It's not like the game will actually suck him in or anything.
He allowed the game to download as he walked home, in the time that he got groceries from the store, admired the sunset as it went past the hills, and plop down in his room. The game had finished downloading and he opened up the title screen.
"Welcome Den Master, Do you wish to play the tutorial?
"Sure why not" Duncan shrugged and he pressed yes.
Welcome to Micro-Management, a game of lives in the apocalypse, you are the overseer of the place the survivors call home, or Den as it is called. Each den has a variety of variations, some are simple dirt and mud holes in the ground while others are advanced space age space stations. You will get a random one through a lottery at the end of the tutorial.
In these Dens are your inhabitants or Survivors who are living through the middle of an apocalypse, each instance of the apocalypse will be random per Den and you are allowed any number of dens you wish to manage. Remember the more Dens you have the more responsibilities you have to face and the more chances you have at being taken into this game itself.
Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.
There are three modes to this game, one is the management mode where you provide for the inhabitants, reward them for their bravery by upgrading their home for more comfortable living conditions or upgrade the residents, to have them a better chance of surviving.
The second mode is the World Mode: Your survivors have to be somewhere, it may be based on a fantasy world or world you do not know, it may be the same world, but this allows you to see any and all details in the current country you are in. Look for resource deposits, natural resources, survivors, even danger zones.
The last mode is the Universe Mode: this mode allows you to look at the universe as a whole, you can use points that you save up to buy a planet and conduct experiments on there. Create horrors that you never dream off and take your top team there. On planets you buy you are not punished.
Is there any questions so far?
That was a hefty explanation but Duncan understood the gist of it.
Duncan was in control of a shelter, and he'd have to adapt it or the people inside of it to the current apocalypse. It was a simple task really, Maybe this game would be boring after all though the concept was great in itself.
"No comments" Duncan said the game continued explaining.
"To interact with characters, simply tap on them. You will be given many options and each will be explained in time. The three most important features though are [Issue Order] [Enhance] and [Information]
Issue Order- This option will allow you to influence the survivor by mentally giving them an order, depending on their stats and afflictions of the current time, there will be a chance the order will not be followed.
Enhance- This option will allow you to grant your survivors special upgrades to make their lives easier in the hard times of their current apocalypse. All enhancements are available to you, but the compatibility between two enhancements may conflict with each other and kill the host instead.
Information- This option will allow for you to look at the information window of a survivor, this will tell you their stats, enhancements and bloodlines, afflictions or diseases, and more. It is a great help to many as it helps them plan for the future.
Is there any questions?
This game was starting to intrigue Duncan rather deeply, He was now earnest to start the game so he pressed for the tutorial to go forward.
From time to time there will be event drops that may benefit or hurt the Den, so exercise caution or suspicious details. From time to time a raid event may happen. This means another player has accessed your world, When in your world the player may do the following: Steal resources, Cause the Den to go Extinct, Make the Current Apocalypse worse, Improve the conditions of your world. and more. You also have the same capabilities when entering another's world.
You are nearing the end of the tutorial, Since you took the time to go through it, you are allowed to choose on of the following bonuses.
Choices:
1. In addition to the 1000 starting points, you will receive a bonus of 500 points and a point multiplier of 200%.
2. You can tame up to two creatures that roam the world in the apocalypse, All needs, costs, and features will be taken care off without the use of points.
3. You will be able to choose the location of the Den, the apocalypse is not up for choosing however.
Duncan smiled at the messages that popped up.
"I wonder, What should I choose?"
