Epilouge: Sapien

He gazed at the night sky and howled, the other’s did the same. Surrounded by wolves of different sizes and shapes, he felt comfy and secure. They were his family after all, nothing felt better than being around family.  Members of his pack trickled in and gathered. With every new arrivals, he greeted them.

It was a peculiar night, some some strange animals had trespassed their territory and were roaming around. He had observed them for a and he knew how dangerous they were, they travelled the same way his pack does, in groups. He also saw that they were hunting, their movements gave it away, it was almost the same way his pack hunts. What more, they carried with them the scent of rotting blood.

He had never seen these animals before. They walked and travelled upright while carrying wooden sticks, jagged bone and sharp rock. He knew that there was danger, danger from those pack like animals but he was confident.

As soon as everyone was there, he urged his pack to follow, and they quietly navigated the dark snowy forest.

He could hear them, their loud excited tones and noises made them stand out from the noiseless forest. He urged his pack to stay hidden before he grew himself feathers and sprouted wings. He flew and sat on top of a tree to observe them again, for good measure.

There they were, circled around a small shivering figure. To think that they have finally caught their prey. He thought it strange that the shivering figure they hunted were the same as them, was it cannibalism? True, that cannibalism was not uncommon to some animals that resided in the forest, but it usually happens because desperation, they did not look like they were starving but their eyes held hunger.  They eyed the shivering creature in front of them as they made tones and noises that he could not comprehend.

“Shall we chop off her legs?” one of the hairless creatures, blabbered.

“No, she’s already too weak, it would kill her too quickly. I don’t want that to happen, eh?” another spouted. “it wouldn’t be as fun-“

“It would fer me!!”

“ That’s only you Kirok!!” A third creature butted in and shoved. The other shoved back, it escalated into a fight. He recognized it, His pack did it most of the time.

The clamour between the hairless creatures rose, the time was right. They were distracted, as distracted as he had ever seen them. He thought that it was too late but it was in fact the most perfect opportunity to startwhile they were still fighting . He flew down back to his pack and signalled them to begin.
