The pack detects the scent of deer in the vicinity, they excitedly followed the scent. As the scent got stronger, it indicated that the deer was close by. IT slows down and the two other juveniles did the same. They circled the area and saw a doe in the distance, it was foraging on something on the bottom of a tree.
IT signals the two juveniles to crouch. They obeyed, IT started to crawl quietly towards the deer, the two juvenile wolves behind him, careful not to make a noise, one wrong misstep and they'll miss the chance to surprise the deer. IT could feel the wind on his face, this was actually good. If the wind blew the other way the deer would be able to detect them and immediately run away.
Deer are harder to hunt than boar. Unlike the Boar, deer were faster and bigger. Boars when being hunted will stand their ground most of the time but deer will most likely run away and hide at the first sign of danger. Also, if the wind was right they can smell the presence of wolves from half a mile away, IT noticed this a couple of times when an occasional deer passed their territory.
There was one time a Stag passed through the territory, IT was the one who came across the Stag. It was a good opportunity the wind was right and the Stag hasn't noticed him yet but since no pack members were in the immediate vicinity, IT tried to take it down all by himself. It did not work well; The end result was that the Stag received a snake bite but escaped nonetheless, IT, on the other hand, got stomped and trampled all over.
Today, though, IT was not alone and at the same time, the wind was in their favor. IT and his pack members ever so slowly went closer towards their prey. IT was close enough to notice some white spots snow on the doe's fur. The Doe lets out a breath of air and mist blows through her snout IT took in the scent; IT could almost feel and taste it. A twig snaps from behind and the Doe raises its head to look at the source of the sound.
Their eyes met. Between the doe's dark brown, square pupil orbs and the grey wolf's hungry grey eyes. The brief second their eyes met seemed like an eternity to the two of them; time seems to have stopped as both of them gazed at each other. Leg muscles on IT and the doe started to tense as IT begins to give chase while the Doe tries to run away. The two juvenile wolves were late to react and they were almost left in the snow.
The doe ran with all its might, swerving and jumping on obstacles to try to slow and deter the predators but IT was closing the distance between them, It took quite a while but IT was so close and was about to bite the deer's rump but suddenly the deer swerves to dodge a tree causing IT to stumble and forces it slow and skid to his side, narrowly avoiding the tree only to fall upon a huge pile of snow that accumulated on the side of the tree.

This put a large distance between IT and the doe, the two juvenile wolves zipped pass IT and were now running ahead. IT tried to recover the distance by running at full speed, IT catches up to with the two wolves and ran past them. But alas the Doe was already gone, IT was exhausted and was panting, chasing it would only waste more time. IT stops and sits on his hind legs to rest while panting.
While resting IT realizes that a large distance was covered trying to chase the doe around 3 times the span of their territory, Behind him the two juveniles were also panting. IT waited for everyone to rest.
After everyone has recovered IT decides to just hunt some small game instead of trying to catch large game. While hunting a wolf not from their pack appears, the wolf was one of the wolves that owned this territory, a member of the pack that they clashed with days ago. IT and the juvenile pack growls and run towards the wolf, the wolf yelps and cowardly runs away, memory still fresh from the death of his alphas and superiors.
Judging by the actions of the wolf that they encountered, something was wrong with the inner workings their pack. They didn't howl to call upon allies, they must still be in disarray with the death of their alphas; they might also be fighting among themselves for the alpha position.
IT satisfied with the thought of losing competition, continues to hunt.The land really was bountiful, they easily caught and killed 8 rabbits and devoured them easily, they left three and kept one on each mouth. Having this land would increase their chances of surviving.
Using this chance IT travels around and along the way IT marks the territory as theirs, usually the alpha of the pack is the one who does this but since the grey wolf was still indisposed to do this, IT acted as a substitute. With rabbits on their teeth, they travelled back into their territory, only to find an unexpected event along the way.

While writing one of Blazingfrost's comments and the previous poll made me realize. that I don't need to make the pack suffer too much so I altered some minor details in the story.
Also I've noticed A sheer number of viewer's has stopped reading after the special chapter, what happened, can anyone tell me?
