Diary entry 15
Woke up to the whining of a toddler. I was angry at first, but I didn’t think much of it. This child just helped me to wake up much earlier than usual. I still have to wait until the end of the day before I can use the perfume that I made. Before I get to use it though I have to remember that my teacher said to use it only a drop each day. Otherwise, I would run out of it too quickly. Since I can’t risk the option of one day running out of the perfume, I need to start collecting all of the ingredients required to make this perfume. I need to find enough that’ll last me for a year. I think 2 more vials should suffice. Dark-colored glass vials and the filter for the perfume can be found in the shops that are specified for making perfume. I might need more than just one filter though. There are certain beverages and other potions that could be made through the use of a filter. Like coffee for example. It’s some sort of a drink that is only able to be made with hot water and a specific species of beans that grow in the eastern continent. The problem comes from not the method of how to get the components, but how expensive they are. They’re specified to only be used in those specific kinds of shops and because of that, they’re much more expensive, due to their unique features and the businesses that use these items get a lot of money from the said product. If the item is “unique” but practically useless, it’s going to be cheap. Another problem that I have is that I can’t buy alcohol because I’m not legally allowed to drink from that beverage category. Henceforth, I will not be granted permission to buy alcoholic beverages. So I suppose I’ll have to make some homemade alcohol for the time being. The third is the mana boosting flowers. They do grow pretty frequently, but only one at a time. I need to find enough to make 2 vials of the perfume. I got lucky the first time. Someone GAVE me those flowers. For some sort of a deal. I killed a slime, gave its central organ to some sort of a black and white figure. There was no other color on it. It’s not human. It did have a humanoid shape, but it was too skinny, too flexible. Its fingers felt like holding a ball of gel. It started from being too big but when I gripped it, it shrunk to a perfect size to fit my hand. Most likely a shapeshifter. But this one is more advanced. Usually, shapeshifters only take the form of one person at a time. They can’t shapeshift body parts separately. Especially when someone’s touching that said body part, so that they wouldn't be found out. Another odd detail of the so-called “shapeshifter” is their inhumane proportions. Shapeshifters that impersonate humans have evolved to have human-like body shapes. With body parts that aren’t too long or too short, such as arms, or legs, maybe neck. The point that I’m trying to come across is that thing was too unnatural to be a shapeshifter. Like I said before, it was too thin, arms too long, and singling out only its hand when I shook his hand. I’ll have to investigate this a bit further. This does remind me of that potion that I made for some spoiled noble brat claiming that she needed a potion that would make her more beautiful. I was annoyed since so many people kept asking me for this specific potion. I was working on something, it’s just that no one was letting me work on it. The concept that I was going for was so that people could flexibly change their appearance based on what they see as beautiful. It’s useful but also a risk. After I created the potion, I said to every customer how to use it, what it does, and to have a sculptor do the work rather than just them doing it themselves. The way that the potion works is that when it’s applied onto someone’s skin, it makes their skin flexible like clay. That’s why it’s also recommended to use gloves when applying the said ointment as I like to call it. Maybe I should write down how it’s made. To be honest it’s like a beauty product.
Clay face ointment
Ingredients
* 8 oz. of induced river clover oil
* 1 oz of killer bee wax
* A double boiler
* Clean glass jars
* An Ice magic-user
How to make the ointment:
1. Warm the river clover oil in a double boiler. Add an approximate amount of ½ oz beeswax and stir until melted. Test the consistency of your salve by dipping a clean spoon into the mixture.
2. If ice magic is available, cool your current mixture at -18 C for 2 minutes. If it’s softer than you’d like, add more beeswax.
3. Pour the still-warm salve into 2 containers with the size of 4 oz.
4. Put the container lids on the jars and keep them within a dark space.
Cautions:
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
* Do not apply the ointment without gloves, your hands will become just like your face. Clay.
* Recommended to get yourself a professional sculptor to reshape your face. It’s still clay, and even if you’re only using it to cover some acne or something, it will still have traces of fingerprints and if you’re not good at sculpting in general, you might ruin your face.
* This mixture can’t change the shape of the human body. It can’t add or remove mass from the skin. It can only reshape it.
When I first moved to the central continent, (in the first timeline) I set up a shop to get some money and reputation. I always had clients complain about how the potion ruined their faces. Claiming that I sold them a horrifying “demon sludge” or something. And every time, I would tell them the cautions of the potions. They simply didn’t pay attention to me, didn’t want to hire a sculptor because it was too expensive. Sometimes, people tried to get their money back for my medicine by using that same potion to change themselves and then giving me the potion. I even got into a big lawsuit stating that I was supporting criminals by changing their faces or at least giving them the potion capable of such a feat. After that lawsuit, some rules were established with the potions. People that came in to use it had to catalog their eye color, hair color, real name, gender, the portrait of the original face, and body shape. The reason that all of those restrictions were placed was that if there was a crime and someone bought the potion, we would be able to know who they are how they looked, and if they tried to pass off as someone else, we would not return the money because they tried to steal from the shop. All of the parts are not something that the potion can change and if someone tries to reverse without my reversal ointment, then they would be unable to return the money. And if I can visibly see that they used the potion and want to return I’ll only return the percentage that they’re giving back. I also have everyone’s names cataloged to see if someone’s trying to use illusion magic to commit theft, the authorities would be able to follow that same person to apprehend them and make it so that they repay the damage they did through money. Can’t talk, for now, I need to help my master out with hunting some slimes for their central organs.
We got some dead slime and some of their central organs. I think it’s better to explain their biology. Specifically, we got 5 greens, 3 blues, and 1 red. The way that the slimes are formatted is that they have a gelatinous body that absorbs specific properties of anything they come across. Those specific properties are only beneficial to the said slime. Slimes attribute different colors over time depending on their diet. If the majority of what they eat is water, they become blue. They can’t go into a river and simply absorb every last drop, like humans, they can drown. Greens slimes are all about vegetation. Such as grass, plants, wood, etc. Red slimes mostly eat living things. Animals, birds, insects... Sometimes red slimes can become brown slimes if they consume too much rotten flesh from corpses. They’re not recommended to be used by alchemists because their gel or their organ can be too tainted by consuming lifeless husks of flesh. It’s even worse when it’s a black slime. They only live in areas that are filled with death and aren’t hunted. They’re rare because they can’t reproduce and villages use them to get rid of corpses of criminals which they do not want to bury. And a wizard is appointed to the slime so that no one would touch it with the risk of getting burnt from its acidic body. Before slimes get their colors they start as colorless grey balls. Their central organ of each slime is there to commit the digestion of the slime and to serve as the center of where its nerves come from. Those said nerves are there to transfer the materials that enter the slime into the central organ, as a way that they can “see” their surrounding environment. The central organ is essentially the main body of the slime and the acidic gel is a method of self-defense as well as a dissolver of nutrients that get sucked into the veins that then travel to the central organ. Slimes of every color are still required to eat from all categories of food. They all need water, living things, plantation, sunlight, etc. They only change colors after they live long enough and develop a specific diet and eat a majority of a specific category. There are evolved states, but they generally are hard to come by and are simply impossible to multiply. Once they evolve they lose the trait of replicating. Sometimes, slime kings can be created. They can only be created if 100 or so slimes of the same color combination with all of their organs knitting themselves together which in turn would make them enormous, hard to kill, and also grant them the ability to control other slimes of the same color through their dominance as a “ruler” of the said slime color species. It’s terrifying, to say the least. Never saw a king slime. This is why there aren’t that many black slimes. No one wants to deal with an unstoppable blob that can vaporize you if you touch it. It’s only limited to one black slime in each town. And if it ever does manage to pop up out of nowhere, the artifacts of the noble houses will have to be used to stop this threat.
I'm Karas Pesuto and this is my eighth day of travel.
