Diary entry 17
This time I woke up in a comfortable bed. A good change of pace. At home, I had to carefully position myself, otherwise, the bed would trip over, meanwhile on the way to “Gnome’s hat,” I could barely close my eyes due to the constant rocking of the carriage and the fact that I wanted to shorten my sleeping span. I could finally fall asleep on something that wasn’t solid ground. It felt as if I was sinking in a gel of slime without the risk of breaking. Continuously sinking. I really hope that I won’t develop a habit from this. It’ll ruin my schedule. After I slept, I went to have a proper shower. It’s really relaxing. But for some reason when I was in there, I just started to brainstorm ideas of what statue the Church built for me in my past life. I made a significant amount of breakthroughs in the medical and alchemical field of science. Became a significant figure in history, and when I did eventually retire to travel the world, I asked for a single thing: to have a statue made for me and placed in the hall of honor. I deserved it. Looking past my ego, and after the shower, I need to search this town for a blacksmith so that my poking stick could be constructed. I don’t want to see that shiny knight. We were on the road for a week, and we didn’t run into him or his group yet. So I think that they either are in this town, or they’re in another town that also leads to Sword’s Edge. There are many other things to find in this town.
I explored this entire town in a single day. It’s surprisingly small. There is a blacksmith shop in the west of the town, a shopping district in the center of town, a library, of all things, in the east, in the south and north there are gates with guards. Near the northern gate, there was a bizarre tent that had a big sign on top of it saying: “Experience your true happiness.” Either this is a psychic’s tent who reads your mind then produces a mental image in your head which you consider “true happiness” or it’s just a shame to cover up that it’s a traveling brothel. Near the southern gate, there's a training ground for swordsmen, archers, and… potato magic. As ridiculous as that sounds, it’s a very effective method for defense and an effective way to have food. As long as they have a single potato, they can do so much with it. Make it larger, multiply it, accelerate its growth, etc. It’s not as easy as it seems though. To accelerate its growth, you need perfect conditions to grow them. Don’t know the specifics themselves, but I get the general idea that you can’t simply grow a potato within a cave unless there’s sunlight, fertile soil, and a supply of water. Besides the logistics of how to grow potatoes, I’m more interested in the library. There could be a variety of tomes of descriptions of plants and herbs within the area of the town. There was nothing around the town though. Just plains and a windmill in the distance. Regardless, when I was looking around, I couldn't see anything specific within the shopping district, I should probably have a closer look to see what’s on sale. There’s a chance that a revolver could be sold. Highly doubt that I’ll be allowed to buy it though. Even if there is no revolver, I can still go to the training grounds and practice my crossbow skills, but it won’t progress too quickly, and because of that, they won’t give me their supplies for the reasons that I didn’t complete my training. I’ll go take a look at the shopping district after I finish running some errands imposed by my master.
I’m ecstatic. I found someone who I saw dying in my past life. When I first saw him, I was in tears. He was my patient in my past life. He had some sort of sickness that started when he was 6 years old. And just now, he looked as if he was 15 or so years old. Even though I already know that he is already feeling the symptoms of sickness I never managed to cure in time, he had a wide smile on his face as if he’s simply enjoying life without any reciprocation. When he came to me for the first time, I’m pretty sure that I was somewhere in the middle of my shopkeeping career within the central continent. I started to get a significant amount of customers, even families of people who joined the military started to visit me. Then he came. He was a middle-aged man, with a beard that only grew on the front of his face. I don’t remember what it’s called but I do know it’s something to do with animals. A sheep? No… A ram maybe? Doesn't matter. He looked as if he was 60, while only being 25 years old. When he first came to me, I didn’t know how to cure him, but now… No. I can’t. I want it so badly… but I can’t. It comes down to 2 factors: I don’t have the ingredients, and I most certainly can’t just stroll up to them and claim that I can cure his disease but to do so, I’ll need to “borrow” him and keep him next to me: a person who must take drugs daily to have a somewhat functioning immunity system, two children who are most likely taking these same drugs and a woman who is teaching me how to make those said drugs. Not a good reputation. Regardless, if someone’s asking me to help them, I’ll try to do everything within my power, to heal them. I guess after doing this for my entire life has rubbed off on me to try to help someone in need. Going to have to let this go.

Cure to (sickness remains without a name)
Ingredients
* Red gel 100 ml
* 1 ripe tomato (weighing 120-140 grams)
* The bone marrow of a healthy human who’s the same gender and age as the patient
* 1 Pure blossom petal
How to make the cure
* Remove the tomato’s stem and cut it in half to remove the roots of the stem.
* Along the same axis as the central split, cut it into thin slices and remove the seeds from the inside.
* Drain the red gel into a glass vial
* Place the seedless tomato into the red gel vial
* Drain the bone marrow and the pure blossom petal into the mix at the same time
* Blend all of the ingredients using a metallic stick
* Heat the blend at a low fire temperature
Cautions:
* DO NOT USE THE WRONG MARROW. IT’LL CAUSE DETERIORATION WITHIN THE SKELETAL STRUCTURE.
* Do not use a rotten tomato. It will only deteriorate the condition of the patient
Record of slumber: 5 hours
I can’t sleep. No matter how much I try, I can’t fall asleep and forget that man. Knowing full well of his pain, and somehow maintaining a smile on his face. It’s so sad and relieving for some reason. Is it the fact that he knows that he won’t survive, or the mentality of living life to its fullest, I can’t tell? It’s… so… frustrating. I can save him, but with that expression, he’s saying that he doesn’t want to be saved. Why would someone refuse to be saved? They get to live longer. That’s the most precious gift one can receive. To live. I have forsaken that chance because I was unlucky. That’s why I’m here. To continue living. To expand my life. I don’t want to die…
I DON’T WANT TO DIE I DON’T WANT TO DIE I DON’T WANT TO DIE I DON’T WANT TO DIE I DON’T WANT TO DIE I DON’T WANT TO DIE
I DON’T WANT TO DIE I DON’T WANT TO DIE…
