Diary entry 16
Woke up with an odd dream. I was in my past life or maybe this life’s future, and I was in the east on a boat within the river that led to the area of “Monk’s forest” called “Blackwood” infested with Skull treants and many other evil beasts of the forest. In the dream, I had all of my previous gear so it’s safe to assume that in the dream I was in my past life. While in the boat, I was sorting out certain potions that I thought would be useful in my journey in the said forest such as firebombs, incomplete map of the waterways, some bandages, regeneration acceleration potions, healing potion ver. 11, my revolver, and some sort of an odd man. He wore a suit of armor that was simply unnatural. It glistened in a green aura that came from the beads he was wearing on his belt, pauldrons, helmet, and the necklace that he was wearing. He didn’t necessarily wear armor… he wore a variety of cloth that reflected light as if it was armor while also wearing chainmail underneath in a hexagonal pattern. That same cloth was used on his helmet around his head except for his face to avoid obscuring the view. Even though nothing was covering his face, I saw nothing. The helmet had horns connected like a unibrow and shaped like a downwards moon crescent. At the neck area of the helmet, it had a collar that was specifically made to tighten the cloth around the head for protection. He was wearing claws on his hands with each blade being on point of an equilateral triangle. His hands were in gloves which were the same color as his emblem which he had on his belt. It was a circular symbol that was split into three parts by a black line. The parts were not equal; the line looked like a crack that was split apart randomly. Like a rock in the desert. The necklace that he was wearing was majorly silver, with an emerald in its center with wood vines replacing the holding chain of the necklace and At the end of the dream, I was sucked into the darkness of his empty helmet and within the pitch-black darkness, I saw a ginormous humanoid creature that was trapped within the roots of some sort of tree, and it felt as if it made eye contact with me and I started to panic, shaking myself trying to make myself wake up. I did wake up in the end, but I felt as if I was suffocating. I realized that my perfume wore off. I started to scammer around my bag like a rat trying to find my bottle. I found it and used three drops rather than one. It is odd though. My symptoms weren’t so painful before, I think my body is getting addicted. It wasn’t that bad in the previous life because it was grown up, with stable organs and metabolism. When I was making this perfume, I never took into account the more fragile body of a child. This means that I’ll become more reliant on the potion, and I have to ensure that I’ll only use one drop at a time. Otherwise, It’ll cost me more, and then I’ll have to get more materials, and the cycle repeats. I tried to distract myself by drawing that figure I saw in my dream. I’m a poor artist, but I tried my best, only drawing the most distinct features. I wanted to ask my master about it but then refrained from it because I assumed that she only lived in the southern continent and never saw any other location of the world that I know of. There could be more out there, I just never had the opportunity to see them. Now my master is calling me to work with her to kill some slimes. There’s an entire horde of them. Perfect. Now I’ll be able to exterminate their entire race for an endless supply of gel.
Today's spoils were massive. We managed to kill approximately 10 green slimes, 6 blue slimes, 3 red slimes, and somehow we managed to kill a grey slime. So rare to find one. My master managed to find a way to successfully hunt down slimes. The most effective way to kill them is to damage the central organ that is essentially its main body. To remove the organ from the protective gel is not to shove your hand into it and grab it. Especially if you are hunting multiple at once. Over time, the skin of the hand will be covered in burns, will start to sting, it’s just so annoying. And I’m not planning to waste precious resources just to treat some burns. Gloves are an option, but they won’t provide a shield for your hands for too long. So it’s better to use a pole purely made of one specific metal. Such as copper, nickel, lead, or aluminum. Those specific metals do not corrode from acids and it’s better to use something made from those metals. But since it’s difficult to create a pole purely of one of those materials. Much less to mend them together, It’s better to have enough that’ll make a metal spike that is 15 cm or around 6 in. Regular slimes can grow up to the maximum amount of 30 cm in diameter, therefore, 15 cm of pure lead must go through the radius and stab the organ.
I just drew the schematics of a “Slime killing pike” in my other journal. I’m not good with forging, but maybe I could give that same design to a blacksmith. It’s better to make a spear rather than a sword… Cheaper, safer, lighter, and far more useful. The primary problem would be to store it, and its usefulness in a cave or a very dense forest. Not much space for maneuverability. But if it becomes necessary, I’ll have to use a knife to defend myself. My slime killing tool aside, I need to store this gel into separate jars. Different slime gel has different properties, all of them do mend things together, but the green gel is made for medicine, blue is for drinkable potions, red is also for drinking but also blood treatment, while grey goes for all categories and can be used for all sorts of potions. I don’t use grey unless it’s an emergency because of how rare it is. I would never kill a black slime. Those are useless to me unless I want to make something that’ll be good for assassins or something. Oh yeah, I did something like that once. When the Church asked me to make it so that a specific “Taboo magic-user” disappeared without a trace. I made acid that would melt a human, very powerful. We would first need to knock him out. Yes, it was a male. Then carry him into my private laboratory to throw him into a specially designed coffin specifically made to erase someone from the face of the world. The acid would be absorbed by the same “Erasure Box” as I enjoy calling it. Of course, that was after it got upgraded by a wizard who knew how to make my box acid absorbent. Before that, I had to have a box on wheels and pour the acid into a chasm. Don’t know if I destroyed any ecosystems in the process, and I kind of didn’t care, since there was nothing useful in that cave. All of its resources were drained by the miners a long time ago. I’m not going to write down how to make that killing tool. Too risky to have someone read this and have a way to multiply that said acid and cause a war. Even if the resources are rare to come by, the recipe can be sold to someone who has connections and the resources to find the ingredients and use the potion.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Got off-topic. I was writing about slimes. We did store the central organs of the slimes because those said organs are beneficial in the study of slimes. In the current time and continent, the study of slimes isn’t as progressed as it is in my original timeline. I should probably have proper names for these timelines. It’s so confusing. This timeline will be called “Timeline 2” meanwhile the timeline that I lived in originally will be “Timeline 1.” So in Timeline 1 research of slimes has essentially found everything out of their biology, habits, physiology, etc. In the bestiary, there are no missing areas of how and why do they work. But I think I should write it down for consistency and in case someone asks me about them I need a short and simple explanation.
Slime: The main body of a Slime is the organ situated in the center of the gel produced by the veins stemming from the body as a self-defense mechanism and as a method to dissolve materials to absorb their beneficial resources for their main body to feed on. The gel is only slightly acidic when it’s on a living slime. There are multiple colorations, but all slimes start from the grey color. They evolve to green, blue, red, black, orange, etc. Their colors stem from their diets. (ex. Green - grass, and plants; Blue - Water; etc.)
Even though I already wrote all of that down in my previous entries it’s better to have these short explanations so that I never lose track of thought and I could always go to this specific entry to get all of the information down from the get-go.
We just arrived in a town. Finally. I was getting bored of constantly rearranging slime jars. We go through the gate without problems. A search for me hasn’t been posted out yet so they didn’t know who I was. Especially since I was using my “fake name.” Which I currently consider my real name. Anywho, we arrived and decided to stay at an inn. We’ll only be staying here for about 2 days, and hopefully, there won’t be anything too eventful happening here. I just want a calm life that won’t bring in anyone’s attention so that I could extend my life without interference. During those same days, my master and I will need to search the town to find anything of use for our experiments. And anything that’ll help extend my life.
That little bastard snatched my journal out of my hands. He didn’t want to read it, he just wanted to play a game with me. I hated that entire interaction from start to finish. Typically, people would grow a connection with the child, but I don’t want to regret it in the long run, so I just snatched it back and told him that I was busy. He cried at first, but over time, he calmed down thanks to master talking some sense into him. For the rest of the day, I simply labeled all of the slime jars that we gathered over the few days that we killed slimes. There too little time to write something too progressive, so I’ll just stop.
I’m Karas Pesuto and this is my first day in a town called “Gnome’s hat”
