[Dual dangers] exit the room amidst the shattered ceiling. She narrowly escapes her death and into another one, the mech that she left earlier has now recovered. It has a grayish-blue color, the body is a spherical shape, and its hand protrudes from both sides holding on to its big machine gun. A quick scan tells Jay that the minigun is manufactured by the K.O corp
They specialized in this type of firearm, a kinetic firearm that causes as much destruction and chaos as possible. Boom, machine gun, etc. However they have a flaw, their explosiveness makes it so that the K.O Corp equipment overheats very fast. They had an answer to this in the form of water cooling but it was reserved for their most expensive equipment.
And there’s nothing like that in this competition. only scarp and broken parts are available. The machine gun has been painted grayish blue to match the whole mech. It’s a kinetic machine gun that fires 100 bullets per minute. About alright considering that the round is as big as a car.
“You’re facing a machine gun, either avoid it until he overheats or deactivate his weapon before he strikes you.”
Jay looks to the side screen and assesses the situation, Sally could be in a bit of danger since her main weapon is not available at the moment. Maybe she is already back to her normal state, the pinkish aura has already dissipated.
“I’ve ping him for you, so do whatever you want, just survive.”
Sally nods, her demeanor calmer than before, time has managed to hold back her rage. Maybe she let it all out right there. Jay looked through the cockpit camera to assess the situation and it looked like it was normal. Back to normal Sally.
An outline of the machine gun mech appears in her head camera vision. It was hiding behind some cargo waiting to strike her. It looks like he still doesn't know that Sally has noticed his presence. She needs to strike first.
Her flight path suddenly changes, and her left thruster activates. her CPC chip tracks the target through the wall. hiding behind cargo never works, it could never cover a building-size mech.
Bam! A shot of her Laser rifle woke the machinegun mech up from its prowling slumber. It’s not stupid enough to stay still and eat the metal-picking laser shot. The machine gun mech activates the thruster and dashes out of its position. The pilot bears the hurt of abruptly changing of G force. Still, it’s better than turning into a pile of rubbles.
The laser shot easily goes through the cargo and ricochets off the ground before it loses its power. The content inside leaked out, it was some kind of liquid. Jay scans it and reminds Sally.
“Herum chemical mixed, highly flammable, use it wisely.”
“You sound like an old man”
“You’ll be a dead man if you don’t focus”
Sally quickly notice the machine gun mech making it move. The bullet chamber started rotating, Sally didn’t have to guess what came next. Her blue thruster glows more intensely boosting her speed to avoid the CPC chip tracking.
in the machine gun mech pilot view, a circle reticle is following [Dual dangers] He changes the calculation to predict where Sally's mech would be and fires his shot. The rain of bullets starts pouring in. The 100 rounds per minute seems slower than Sally's submachine gun but the size could cause a devastating blow.
One round is enough to leave a mark in the facility for their work to remember. If there was any.
“Jay, is the ceiling gonna fall again?”
Sally couldn’t help but ask, their escape still hot in her mind, and she wouldn’t like a whole city falling on her again.
“The scanner said there’s a 12% chance of that happening and increasing with every shot.”
“Zoarh”
She couldn’t help it. She looks for another exit. When she did that a flash of inspiration hit her, she fired a laser shot into the Herum liquid making it combust into flames. The impact causes The machine gun mech to cease its firing, Sally heaves a sigh of relief as she flies to the exit.
“He’s not following”
Sally turned around immediately after she was in the clear. She could feel a wet grip on the control of the mech. The contrast fight made it exciting and also quite exhausting. She catches herself panting. her real eyes luckily didn’t suffer since she was already in sync with the mech. She waited for what felt like an hour but only mere minutes had passed.
The competition tickles down to 75 people remaining. She revealed a bright smile, her goal was about to be achieved! She was about to get to the real competition!
“Jay, let's hide”
Sally said beaming. expecting Jay to retort her saying that this is unlike her but a response never came.
“Jay?”
Sally's eyes dart around as she tries to establish contact with Jay. She checked the connection and it seemed to be fine, however, the UI display by Jay couldn’t be wrong. he’s bad in many aspects but UI designing isn’t one of them.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“This isn’t slick! it’s not a good prank!”
“Sally, I might have a problem….”
Jay said over the com, Sally couldn’t feel his emotion but from his word, she could be certain that something bad had happened. Jay often never voices his problem out loud.
“What's wrong, you’re making me scared”
“As you should, someone is sniping the spaceship out of orbit.”
“What!?”
Her mouth is agape, not following Jay on this matter He sends her a picture. Its content mostly consists of clouds and the ground below. Sally expected as much from a satellite picture. Jay then zooms in on the picture to see a spec of grey protruding from a cloud.
“What is that?”
“SHAZAM-6487 Laser power canon. Use a 7-ton battery to fire a shot. Able to decommission any opponent in this competition with a singer shot. It only appeared for a split second, the pilot must have very skilled maneuvers or an optical camo.”
“And?”
Even she knew about this flashy weapon. it was mainly used in a stationary defense or a very very heavy mech. The size alone would not let anyone fly freely unless a Juggernaut class mechup or a fortress. She feels something amiss here, they don’t have a full picture.
“The spaceship to my right got shot down…”
“That’s not possible! the SHAZAM…”
“I know, that’s why I’m having a problem right now.
Jay put his hand on his head. He could only use the information he got from the shot so he couldn’t get much. The shot happened only a second ago and only left a pile of debris right next to him.
The energy it contains and flight path point toward it being SHAZAM-6487 Laser power canon. But it was too big to be carried around the battlefield. let alone fly high in the cloud with optical camouflage. It is borderline being on the RG level of mech to pull this off.
Jay continues to scan the area while keeping an eye on Sally's position, to see if anyone is hunting for her. But no one would want to risk it. They only have to be eliminated for them to qualify. With only 74 participants left, the big crater felt even more barren than before. The fight has already settled, and participants have less motive to fight with each other.
About time for some changes…
“Raran here again, we are at the last corner of this competition!” His voice brimming with excitement “Seeing as there’s not enough action, The laminates queen will be dropped in the center of the crater! enjoy!”
A gigantic bug appears in the sky, digitized by the competition. It floats for a mere second before gravity has its way and drags it down. The Lamits queen is as large as a juggernaut mechup. It sports a muscle body akin to that of a lizard with its mouth circular with sharp teeth around the edge.
Upon arrival, it immediately senses a tinge of energy to collect. not much but every bit counts toward her army. She uses her energy to create more of the little minions. the human-sized size critter crawls out of her mouth one by one until it looks like a sea of blue.
Dread creeps in on many of the participants. They readily fled to the outer skirt, hoping to avoid the coming disaster. The hoard floods the city eating at anything remaining with energy. The building quickly crumbles the road full of blue menace.
“Sally you need to get out…”
Jay warns Sally of the coming hoard, her position is not bad but not good either. The underground would serve as her protection and her tomb if the critter got to her. She dons a worried face and looks for the exit. However, she also didn’t forget the danger behind her. The machine gun mech also needs to evacuate the place.
Weirdly enough, Sally didn’t hear any thruster, she checked the sound system is discovered no error with the tech.
Is he intending to bunker down here?
Wouldn’t be a wise choice in her opinion but it wouldn’t hurt to check on her competitor. Maybe they could caught him by surprise.
“Jay, are you able to view the facility camera?”
“Somewhat, I need to keep an eye on that SHAZAM”
“Could you look at the mech I was fighting? See what he’s doing.”
Jay has no objection to that, he switches one of his cameras to the one in the last room. The greyish room was littered with cargo boxes of different colors and sizes. Among them, Jay could see a mech inside the room but it was not in a state he expected. The mech was lying on the ground it looked like it fell and crushed some crate leaking its contents.
He became puzzled at what was going on. Why did the emch end up like that? If they are killed the mech is arranged to disappear by the competition. Not lying on the ground like this. Another possibility is that the mech ran out of fuel and flopped on the ground, praying that they survived. Or last possibility is a bait for Sally to take action.
He is willing to take the bite, the emch laying position made it hard to surprise Sally with anything.
“Looks like the mech lost all its energy but be cautious, check in on him with some led”
“Roger”
With only 9 people to go, Sally needed every advantage she could. She flew to the door connecting the two rooms and peeked through. The camera quickly captured her target, and her rifle aimed low, hoping to get him in one shot.
BAM!
The blue beam left her muzzle in a hurry, the shot piece through a layer of armor, making a hole right through the pilot seat. Sally uses the camera to zoom in on the mech condition, having been hit by a laser devastating heat left a melting piece of iron where she shot. Through her enhanced vision she could see the pilot seat. She pierced through it, if there was a pilot there would be no more.
But the mech did not go into her inventory
“Jay, the mech pilot is already dead!”
“!?”
He connected the dot quickly, the spaceship right beside him was properly the commanding voice of it. The moment it got shot, the participant was reduced to 73.
Does the spaceship crew count as a participant?
He didn’t take long to come to an absolute yes. That’s why the machine gun mech is already dead. Jay runs an intensive scan on the cloud to find that elusive gunman. The scanner peeped as fast as possible until it found something.
The gun poked through a cloud, the color blue emanating from the white cloud.
it's too late!
