The hunk of iron smashes into each other sending one of them flying backward. A loud sound thunders through the area as the mech reaches the wall with great impact. Its arm pushes against the wall to rebalance itself before its opponent quickly closes in and takes another swing.
Bang!
This time, however, the blow is mutual. Both of them tagged backward.
“OHHH despite receiving such a huge blow, Rex recover and counterattack! He is as sharp as ever! the Iron still survived!”
The caster said with great enthusiasm garnering more hype from the audience. The match between Rex and Thorn has been greatly anticipated. The old champion versus the rising star in Mech boxing. Who would win in this riveting bout?
Rex, with his Iron Survivor, and Thorn, with his Heavy Hits, or Double H, had different areas of expertise. Rex mech is all about deterring attacks and taking many hits, as the name implies. It survives strikes that would take out every other mech in this weight class, his mech has performed brilliantly. There's a reason he's the reigning champion.
On the other side, the Double H is exactly as the name suggests, With two powerful pistons pushing every punch transforming a normal blow into a lethal attack. Their style of combat is opposite to each other, while Rex wants to play it slow, Thorn wants to end it fast.
Having every punch powered by a piston takes much energy. Rex wants to aim for that and counter-attack after the Double H exhausts its power. Double H wants to finish this fast; it knows that the more time it takes the less likely it’s going to win.
Bang!
The piston pushes against the iron Survivor chassis. The iron survivor could block in time before it impacts anything critical. Since mechs taller than three meters were not permitted to compete in the mech boxing, the mech in this event is rather small, thus aiming for the pilot is a viable tactic.
The double H follows up with more assault, the piston pushes far past its limit and into overheating. Thorn is desperate to finish this fight, any longer than this then the iron survivor would outlast it.
Rex is doing everything he can to withstand the onslaught, but the plating on his iron survivor is crumbling. He clenches his teeth and continues to defend himself against the hit. He knew that his time was approaching.
Bang!
When the piston rang the last time, Rex knew what to do. Iron Survivor roars to life and uppercuts the Double H in the head. The double H square head vibrates as all of its senses go wild. Thorn's vision of the Iron Survivor has vanished. He promptly activated his backup camera, although it was less than ideal. When connecting to a mech, you want it to seem as natural to your body as possible, yet the Chassis secondary camera fails to deliver that since it was on the top half of the chassis. The Iron Survivor makes the most of this and fires a barrage of strikes directed at the location that the second camera was unable to capture.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The Double H protection plate is chipped away by the assault, The blows land in the right place. A red light flashes to alert Thorns of severe damage. Even the audience was able to tell Double H's desperation. It swung its arms around in an attempt to catch Rex, but it failed.
Rex already backed off, sensing that a desperate attempt at a hail Marley was coming. The double H attempted another swing, but it was in vain. Rex has been a step ahead in dodging the erratic blows. The battle is over when the iron survivor arm precisely pierces through the Double H cockpit.
The audience erupts when the simulation goes down. cheering Rex on as he steps onto the stage with pride and raises his fifth championship trophy. It's the greatest moment of Rex's life, and he can't contain his tears.

Jay was crying too, but he was at another location, hidden away in a room. Jay's tear is different from Rex's; it's heartbroken and angry. He sits there silently, watching as Rex smiles broadly and lifts the award. His smartwatch revealed Rex's victory on a screen. He knows what's about to happen, so his body froze as his smartwatch shows him a negative number.
-1,000,000 Gibs
That's how much debt he was in and how much his life was going to cost. Jay becomes alarmed as he hears a knock on the door. and while he knew it was a bad idea, he attempted hard to hide in the garbage can of a room. He considered his alternatives after taking a short peek out the window but lacked the courage to take a chance.
Fuck
The pounding became more insistent, and Jay sensed their growing rage. Jay's thoughts were out of control, he began to consider where he might throw himself out the window or get permanently lodged in a mine for eternity
Fuck Fuck Fuck
He didn’t have to think anymore as the door busted open
“Finally! you can’t hide this time Jay!!” A guy in a suit shouted barging into Jay's room “Your room smells like junk… get him!”

Jay hits his chair against the window and looks back, he sees someone throwing themselves at him. Even if Jay was unable to smash the window, it was still worth taking a shot. The chair crashed against the still window and did nothing. Jay didn’t even have the chance to run before he got caught. After taking Jay down with a tackle, the man locks him in.
“Please! Let me go!” Jay yelled “Please! I don’t want to work in the mine! Anything please please”
“Bah,” The guy at the door sneered. “Shut up, You get what you order little Brat. Maybe don’t gamble your life savings next time ”
“Please I will serve you..” Jay cries out his voice smeared by snoot “I…I could be a mech designer for you … I could even be your lap dog for life! Anything but the mines!”
“Tempting… But If you weren’t a drop out maybe you’d have a chance” The guy pointed a finger at Jay “Nap him”
“No…”
Jay world goes black
—----
Jay woke up and glared at the orange sky. The hue is natural on this planet.
“No one should find him here.” The guy in the suit said, now he got a mask on. “Get the extractor out and do this quickly.”
Cough cough
Jay instantly recognizes where he is because of the unbreathable material that permeates the air here. A junkyard that discards food and most gadgets. The location lies outside the city's protective dome, which is the worst part.
“Oh, he woke up,” The guy said “Didn’t you use the full dose?”
“No chief” he shakes his head, “ thought half was enough.”
“Maybe next time,” The chief said “No matter let's finish this now”
“Please… Cough Cough” Jay's words push through his pollution-filled lungs. “please…”
Even though Jay knew that he was pathetic, he couldn't have cared less. At this point, he would accept anything, even work at the mines if it meant staying alive. as it didn't appear like he was being employed.
The chief goon said something that Jay couldn’t quite make out, Soon he approached Jay and put a square gun against his chest. The cold hard metal sinks in, pinning him on the floor powerless to do anything. His body grows weaker as he breathes in more air. His eyes braw out as he looks into the gas mask of the goon.
Plinth
A soft iron sound emits from the gun, creating a gaping hole inside his chest. Jay's mouth split open but no sound came out, the pain that he couldn’t imagine spread through his body. His brain almost couldn’t register it but he has no such luxury. He could feel every part of his body screaming but no sound could come out of his mouth. He coughs up blood. The red liquid flowed out from his chest where his heart was. A smell of iron hit his nose along with the putrid smell of the world outside. At this moment he knew he didn’t have much time left.
His life flashes before his eyes, He sees a boy playing with his mech toy in a living room. His parents came in and gave him a big hug. It feels so warm…Yet so distant. His eyes blur out. At that moment nothing matters anymore, Maybe some regret about not getting that college degree. But he couldn’t do that anymore…
Maybe in the next life, he could build his mech… a shiny and powerful mech that flew across space, piloted by A Galaxis pilot. Able to single-handedly stop war… Maybe he could dream. He spent his last moment with his eyes closed, at least it was a nice dream.
I’m sorry Mom, I didn’t make it

[Complete! Welcome to the mech design system]
Jay's eyes swung open. He greedily sucked in all the air that he could. His body sprung up from a deep slumber like a zombie. He looks around and finds out that he is still in the junkyard.
It’s real?
He had hoped that all of that was a dream, a nightmare that he created when he was stressed. But the junkyard that laid before him says otherwise. He scrambles and his hand reaches for a metal nearby and he yanks it out. The cold metal piece felt so very real to him… At that moment something occurs to him.
Jay panics and looks down at himself only to find something unexpected. The hole that is supposed to be his missing heart is filled with something. He uses his free hand to touch it. Surprisingly he could feel the piece of metal as if it was part of him. It looks like some kind of a power source and it is pumping blood for Jay.
He examines it in awe, the technology that could have made this is so marvelous. He’s got no clue about bioengineering but the fact that this doesn’t hurt or feel foreign to his body speaks for its technology.
Most, if not all the Chromer that modified part of their body said that they felt like it was not part of their body after modification However, he felt just like his body had felt previously, except that his respiratory system had been able to breathe in junkyard air without any issues.
He doesn't feel like dying when he sniffs, but the stench isn't any better either.
[Quest - Build a mech]
[Detail - Build a functional mech]
[Reward - upgrade token and 100 Mech points]
What?
A blue box appears in front of him to his bewilderment. He stretches his hand to tap it but it seems to go right through. Jay wonders what this is all about. He guesses that someone has put him in a simulation.
That’s just impossible
The quest that is.
“Log off”
“out”
“Close”
He shouts many of the usual commands that would exit a game but nothing seems to be working. Jay concluded that this was real, it wasn’t unusual for someone to project a game interface in their eyes and Jay imagined that this is what it would look like.
“What are you?” He asks not expecting any answer
