Therapy

Hello Everyone

My name is John Daleson.

I work as a therapist in New York City.

I'd say I'm quite good at my job, as it were. It isn't exactly an easy job.

Whats hard about being a therapist? Well, I have a rather excentric cast of clientel.

I'm not talking about New Yorkers.

A couple of months ago I decided to go see my mother in the Bronx when I stumbled across an odds and ends antic story I'd never visied before.

Being in no particular rush I perused through the story to see if I could find a gift for my mother.

Inside a back corner was a very ornate door knob. Curious about it, I asked the shop owner for information about it.

He told me that a crazed chinese man came in a week ago and sold it, muttering about it being cursed.

While I admit I'm a rather grounded person who isn't normally afraid of things like ghosts, somehow this doorknob frightened me.

So why did I buy it anyway? I think it has to do with a lot of things.

Loneliness, sexual frustration, testosterone... even therapists have hard times diagnosing their own problems.

What I do know is that then and to an extent now, I wanted something interesting in my life.

After also buying something for my mother, I spent the evening at my parents home before returning to my office near midnight.

The next day I installed the doorknob onto the outside of my office and went about my normal routine.

Small interjection into the narrative, but lets all be glad I installed it onto the outside because otherwise the human race would have been exterminated.

The day after I installed the doorknob, during a Saturday lunch, the door opened.

In walked in............... I still find it hard to describe him.

King Ralfaesthiz IV.

Not a human.

After both of us freaking out and several minutes of failed communication, he opened the door and left.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Then he returned with another.... thing.... and using some magic allowed us to communicate.

As it turns out, my doorknob seemed to have opened a space-time bubble that linked across, well, space and time. Also dimensions.

Explaining myself to be a therapist, the King "ruled" that the doorknob must connect to ... things... with pent up frustrations about life.

We talked for several hours after that and signed a magical contract which would allow him to come once a week(If he so desired to give me the honor) and in exchange I'd be paid in gold and jewels.

The king, being a generous and wise monstrosity, also gave me a book translated into english explaining how magic worked. His court wizard explained to me that while connected to whatever dimension I happend to connect to, I would have access to that worlds unique enegy source.

So, while you might think gietting a book on magic would make me the ruler of Earth, it didn't. I would only be able to use magic when connected to a world with mana.

That day before leaving work I removed my doorknob. Since I'd already signed the contract, which left a tiny bit of mana in my heart that would kill me if I violated the terms, I didn't have a choice but to use the magical doorknob for my office instead of throwing in the ocean.

Knowing that, I bought a few guns.

Fortunately. My next guest was a goblin king.

The second day thus ended with the trama of killing a humanoid lifeform. Things continued to get crazier.

Two years later, my clientel has expanded immensly.
