The Boy

In the walled city of Kazam, there's a street called Bad Street. As the name suggests, this place only welcomes people from the bottom parts of the city. From criminals to homeless people, all live in this place. It's not like they chose to live here; rather, they're forced to live here by the rulers of this city. Kazam city falls under the rules of Sun Sect. Even though the city is in the northern part of the continent where the universal qi is very scarce, Sun Sect still appointed a mayor of their own in the city. Even so, half a year ago, this city was not as strict on lawless people as it is now. It all happened half a year ago when the city mayor, David Rackham, announced that the all-northern martial arts tournament is going to happen in this city and people from the Sun Sect will supervise the entire event. It's a joyous event for the people of the northern part but bad for criminals.

The mayor of the city is not a very good person as he lets criminals roam freely in his city. As a result, people are very frustrated. But now, with such a big event happening in the city, the mayor can't just let it slide. Instead of completely banning them, he decided that they can do their business in Bad Street. Bad Street has a bad reputation as it's well known to locals that this place holds all the homeless people. People who have nothing to offer to society but still wish to live. They do odd jobs, collect stuff, and sell or beg at the side of the road to make a living.

Anyway, the mayor banned all the criminals, and he even banned the homeless people from entering other parts of the city, basically creating a curfew at the mouth of Bad Street. Anyone who crossed the line would immediately face death. As the day of the event is approaching, the people in Bad Street became desperate. Because of the curfew, they couldn't go outside, meaning they were starving to death. Criminals started looting homeless people and mercilessly killing them. A total chaos was unleashed in the street.

As the day passed, the highly anticipated event finally began. People from all corners of the north came to participate, including disciples from the Sun Clan and other big-name clans such as the Ice Heart Sect, Dark Night Sect, Sword and Spare Pavilion, and more. It was a joyous occasion, but some began to question the motives of the sects. Speculation circulated that they were looking to find new talent from the north or train their own young disciples, while others even started rumors that the sects were plotting something.

"Do people think the big sects need talent from here? Ha!" Some laughed at the rumors, while others took them seriously. The anticipation for the final match grew even greater, as if everyone was waiting for something.

Finally, the day of the final match arrived. The match was between the grand disciple of the Ice Heart Sect, Ruby Redwood, and a common lad from the north named Ryder. No one expected the commoner to go so far, but nonetheless, everyone cheered him on. The match was a struggle for both contestants, but in the end, Ryder emerged victorious. That was just the beginning of the chaos.

The moment Ruby fell, Ryder released a sigh of relief. As the cheering of the people started pouring down and as he started to feel accomplished, that's when an elder from the Sun Sect jumped into the arena and strangled Ryder. Even though Ryder was the strongest in the entire tournament with his level 30 cultivation, it was still nothing compared to the level of the elder who was at level 60, the Martial King. The elder quickly performed some kind of ability by touching Ryder's head. Ryder started screaming with pain and all the onlookers started to feel that something was wrong. They started to shout and protest, but before they could go on further, a powerful suppression came to the entire arena, no, to the entire city, and everyone fell to their knees.

At that moment, those who managed to look at the arena noticed the silhouette of a man in white looking below the arena. The elder who had strangled Ryder earlier also became pale. But he didn't let go of Ryder. Instead, he put his hands on Ryder's chest as if he started pulling something out. Ryder began to cry in agony. On the other hand, seeing that the elder wouldn't stop, the man in white shouted and the entire arena was blown away. People were flying everywhere. In the blink of an eye, the entire arena became a bloodbath.

All the disciples of the various sects were protected by their respective elders. After the shout power ended, the remaining elders of various sects also acted. But it was too late. Due to the greed of the Sun Sect elder, he was the first person to die by the hands of the man in white. But before he died, the elder successfully pulled out a white light from Ryder. The man in white quickly went to Ryder's body, but it was no use. Ryder died the moment the white light came out of his body.

The man in white mourned over Ryder's body. While this was happening, other elders started fighting for the white light, but before they could take it, the man in white shouted again. This time, it was different. Instead of being pushed, the entire city became a fiery hell as a firestorm began to rise in the sky. The sky became dark, and the entire world became a dark red hell. If anyone looked at the sky from the tallest point in the north, they could only see a dark red sky with lightning bolts all over.

Finally, a battle began. The city that once stood there was no more, as everything was either burning or destroyed. At the center of the city, the man in white fought madly, and one after another, the elders fell. Soon, all the elders died, and only the man in white remained standing with the white light in his hand. In the last moments of his life, his eyes showed the regret he had carried all his life - the regret of letting Ryder's death happen. He then released the white light, and it flew away. While he put two fingers on his heart and activated a technique, a bright light shone in the center of the city with a loud bang. The light started to grow and grow until it stopped, enveloping half of the northern parts of the continent and creating a barrier that separated the north from the central continent.

Thousands of kilometers of land from the city of Kazam are completely burned. In the middle of all the ashes, a boy atop the burning watchtower of the city is enveloped by a water bubble. As the ashes settle down, the bubble breaks apart, revealing a young boy with a white face and long hair. Everything in this place is destroyed, but the boy is completely fine because the bubble protected him. While the boy is sleeping, all of a sudden, his body starts to float in the air. Everything surrounding him becomes bright blue, and at this point, a white light, like an extra who interrupted the event, goes inside the boy's body. In the next moment, the boy opens his eyes.

"Idiots! All of them are damn idiots. They all fought and killed so many people just for this damn bullshit face-changing technique."

This is the first thing that comes out of the boy's mouth.
