Interlude - Evarim

Interlude - Evarim

In the beginning the world tree, Evarim, was alone, however it loved to create, and through that love it birthed the world. Evarim wanted to create life to populate this world, but to create life it needed to sacrifice a part of itself. So Evarim split itself into 5, each piece embodying something it wanted to pass on. These 5 pieces were its love of creation through its fruit, its sacrifice for progress through its trunk, its impartial fairness through its roots, its knowledge through its branches, and finally its mana through its leaves.

4 of the pieces formed the high races, the Gods from the fruit, the Demonic Gods from the trunk, the Dragons from the roots, and the High Elves from the branches, and Evarim’s leaves fell to the world, giving it mana.

The High Elves were the first to move, they gave knowledge of Evarim’s sacrifice and will to each of the other races. The Dragons moved next; they made a set of rules for all races to abide by. The Gods were the next to move, they created those without sentience. And the Demonic Gods were last to move, they destroyed the baren deadly land to make way for life.

For a while, this is how the world progressed, however the Gods wanted more. Like Evarim, their love of creation drove them to create more and more. The Gods then created 3 of the middle races, the Angles, the Elves, and the Lesser Dragons all made in the image of a high race. However, the Gods then created the Dwarves, another race in the image the Gods. This angered the Demonic Gods, with the creation of all middle races there was now more need to sacrifice and the Demonic Gods needed a middle race to help.

The Demonic Gods went to the Dragons, as the arbiters, and the Dragons agreed that the Demonic Gods must get a race made in their image, and the Dwarves would be the sacrifice. The Gods loved all their creations however, and seeing the race they loved be sacrificed saddened them. So, they pleaded with the Demonic Gods to spare the Dwarves, and they agreed. In return the Demonic Gods would get the next 2 races to be created in their image, rather than 1. The Dragons wanting to be fair decided that the Gods would create 2 middle races total for each high race. The High Elves using their knowledge agreed, however this would be the last time the Gods could create a middle race, as to not upset the balance of the world. All other races would have to be low races.

The Dwarves were spared, and the Gods created the final 4 middle races, the Demons and Lycanthropes in the image of the Demonic Gods, the Humans in the image of the Dragons, and the Spirits in the image of the High Elves. When the middle races were created the Demonic Gods and High Elves implanted the knowledge of this agreement into them. If the agreement was broken, then as sacrifice the middle and low races would be cut off from the will of Evarim, and therefore cast out of the world created by it.

And so, the Gods who still loved to create began to create the low races with the help of the Angles and Dwarves. The Demonic Gods who still needed to sacrifice for that creation created the cycle of life and death for the low races, enforced by the Lycanthropes and Demons. The High Elves spread knowledge to the low races, helped by the Spirits and Elves. And the Dragons remained the impartial arbiters for the high races, the Lesser Dragons and the Humans for the middle and low races.

However, the Gods were not fulfilled by creating the 8 middle races and wanted to create more. Knowing the creation of another would force all out of the world created by Evarim the Gods created 9 separate worlds, one for each of the middle races and some of the low races. The final world was to be the world for the soon to be next middle race. The Gods then created the Ents, not in the image of any high race, but rather in the image of Evarim. And with the creation of the Ents, the middle and low races were cast out of the world Evarim created, and the Gods moved them to each of the worlds they created.

The Gods had a plan however for their creations, they did not want them to be separated from Evarim for long. So, they put all 9 worlds into their own dimensions, in the same exact place as the world Evarim created, but on different layers. And within time the layers would grow thinner and thinner, pushing the worlds into each other.
