"YES!!!"
I rush up to Mr teacher and the red haired woman and hug them both out of joy of finally being able to talk.
"It feels so good knowing that I won't be alone forever, stuck with only my thoughts and unable to understand anything. I was thinking I was going to need to learn an entire new language that shares no common root to my own but that looks like it is a thing of the past. By the way, are you feeling ok? You seem a bit pale and.... oh, I am rambling. Is everything okay? Here, I'll ease up on the hug a bit, but I can finally understand and be understood by someone! Of course I am excited! By the way, I am not a kid. I am an adult! I don’t want to be in school any more!"
"Le ausitiqcua paterneera deminsuge" Mr teacher replies, hesitantly.
"What?!"
"We cannot understand you. We found this on the guard. It only translates the wearer"
I put my hand out, hoping that I can use it. Mr Teacher understands what I want, and places it in my hand.
"Can you understand me now?"
Blank stares. I reposition it in my hand.
"How about now?"
Still blank stares. Mr teacher starts looking at me quizzically. I swap it to my other hand.
"Can you hear me now?"
Still blank. I frown, thinking why can I not use it. I continue to poke it, placing it in my hand, trying to see if I can get it to activate. Looking closer, I notice something. There is a small hole in the surface of the device on one side, and from what I can see by tilting it back and forth, there are fine traces running through it. Entranced by the object, I fail to notice red haired woman run off and return shortly with a highly polished wooden box that she carries reverently.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Mr Teacher coughs. I look up and he gestures for the device back. I pass it to him.
"This polished box holds the school's greatest treasure and tool. A

He hands the trinket to the red haired woman, whom I guess is Lena. Mr teacher then respectfully opens the box, lifting out a polished brass sphere with a flat side. Looking at the flat side, there is an analog needle resting as well as an incandescent light?
Mr teacher, with great gravitas, places the device in his hand, and briefly the needle swings to the right, and the lightbulb lights up to the brightness of a candle temporarily and then fades out.
He then carefully, gently passes it to me. I place it in the palm of my hand, mimicking as close as possible to what he showed me. He nods slightly. I feel a slight tingle as I touch it, similar to that of when I was eating the vegetables. Hoping beyond hope that I have something of use in this otherwise fantastical world that I currently cannot interact with properly, I try and push the needle by moving something through my arm towards my hand.
I focus for seconds, I shut my eyes hoping to channel my max strength and desire into the device. Opening my eyes, both Lena and Mr teacher are in shock.
I try again. Still nothing. I try again, and again, switching hands, putting it on the pillow in the box and pulling it back out. Still nothing. I flip it over, and looking in it, I see the same small hole that the trinket/translator had, and faint traces emanating around it.
Looking up again, they are still in shock. I look to Lena, who, realizing that I am staring at her, places the trinket in her hand and begins to speak with the smoothest, most endearing voice.
"Sorry about staring off just now. But according to this
