The feminine figure flicked her hand, and the Fog pushed against the window with force, opening it. The monstrous crow understood the signal and flew through the open window, leaving the tower. There, the figure stayed vigilant. She appeared to concentrate on the newly acquired information about the sisters, their home and their family. Her nebulous hair, as incorporeal as the rest of her body, flowed through the entire room, even phasing through the openings like the keyhole in the door.
The door was gently opened, revealing a boy. His hair was unkempt but short. He wore a black robe, with a hood that barely covered his eyes. They were an intense yellow, almost glowing, like the fiery crucible of a blacksmith. He looked at the elusive woman with respect and took a bow. The figure looked back at him with her blank white eyes, the only thing visible through her transparent body. She seemed to blink at him, in approval.
-You’re here.-
She said. Her voice was feminine and somewhat soft, but at the same time ominous. A permanently distorted echo of regret and resentment followed the sound of her voice, seemingly making the trees tremble at her every word. Despite this, the boy stood his ground calmly.
-Of course. You asked me to come see you before the students arrive.-

The shadowy figure seemed to relax. Her hair flowed more harmoniously through the room. As if she had taken a weight off her transparent back.
-Yes… Yes… You did good… Now… I must slumber… I trust that you know what to do if something were to go wrong. You have the tools and knowledge to do so. Today… is the most important day of our lives. At least for the time being. We will not fail.-
-I will take care of it. Watch over the students, keep track of the staff, and keep you informed of any events that happen during your slumber.-
The figure looked at him, lifting a finger made of fog.
-And you will wake me up in case of any emergency. I trust you are wise enough to know what is an emergency.-
He nods again. After coexisting with the Fog woman for many years, he knew exactly what events were critical and required her presence.
-Excellent. Before I go… Anything else you need to say to me?-
His expression changed a bit, becoming warmer. He approached her slowly, and he seemed to embrace the shadows in a hug. She could not feel his touch, but maybe she had seen his intentions.
-Have a good rest, Shadow Lady. And take care.-
The figure turned away from him in silence and walk towards the desk. Before doing anything else, she spoke again.
-Take care too, little one.-
The Shadow Lady phased through the desk. Becoming smaller and smaller. Like the copper lamp above it was absorbing her. Soon, the feminine figure disappeared, and the lamp swelled. The boy took the lamp and stored it in an iron chest. His master would not have her slumber interrupted.
