Chapter 75: Infamous II
Gayle and the golden haired draconic heir looked at the fleet of ships above them. The heir held a grim expression on his face. Under those seven ships that held literal weapons of war on them, the majority of his force was more than unlikely to survive. Fighting was no longer a part of the question, in the face of those seven warships they simply had to scramble for their lives. This time around, Everrain seemed to want to completely decimate the younger generation of draconic heirs.
It made sense. The empire of Agni held many powerful figures, but it was really the dragon lineage who could overpower them in the skies that really gave them trouble. The seas that surrounded Everrain served as a natural geographical advantage for the territory, making it impregnable to maritime warfare, but who could monopolize the skies if not dragons? Killing the younger generation here and now would only serve them well in the future.
Yet…a fleet of ships was something they had never sent before. In the past, Everrain did all sorts of schemes to kill the younger generation of dragons but never to the extent where they would send weapons of war. Something was different, something must have changed. The golden flame heir took note of this discretion. He would look to one of the shadow forces if they held any information regarding the political state of Everrain. Maybe the territory was undergoing another chaotic shift of leaders…
Gayle on the other hand, was much more calm. Although she was a powerful target, the fleet of ships would focus on the draconic heir, not her. With her powerful eyes she could see that her party was far away from the battlefield, enough to not get caught in the chaos as long as none of those hydro-railguns targeted them. Not to mention she herself was beyond swift, and although those water cannons were powerful, she would be alerted to danger as soon as they targeted her.
Her safety and flee from the scene was all but guaranteed, but once she regrouped with her party…they had to deal with the curious observers who were drawn to the intense battle. Just like how her earlier battle attracted the four forces, the miniature war that was being held attracted the presence of tens of thousands of different eyes towards them. Compared to the four forces that came to investigate, the hundreds of different groups approached the scene like an army of ants to the scent of food.
On the positive side, the hundreds of forces were sure to keep each other in check, allowing her party to most likely get out of the area alive. On the negative side, the hundreds of forces saw the hidden part of her bloodline and now tens of thousands of people knew about her once hidden strength. On the positive side of that, anyone weaker than her was sure to avoid her, and she was now famous to the younger generation of individuals. Her name would spread across the world of bloodlines, and she was sure to be regarded as a growing figure worth paying attention to. It was very likely that her goal of getting recruited by an heir would come true.
Yet, on the negative side of that fame, were enemies on the opposite side of her that were sure to realize every weak point she had to their advantage. Her revealed strength would be carefully analyzed so that her enemies would be adequately prepared when they decided to attack her.
The amount of enemies she would make by serving under a draconic heir was not few. Yet, Gayle was now known as someone young, talented and powerful, with lots of potential to be realized, lots of potential still to be unearthed. Her enemies would not only grow in number, but they would be focused on taking her down before she grew to a level where it would be too difficult.

Every young, powerful figure had a target on their back from the numerous enemies their nations made. And every one of them was put on a watchlist by their respective enemies that lurked both in the shadows, and by those who fought in the light. Caught in this miniature war and forced to fight for her life, Gayle’s name would become both famous, and infamous throughout the world of bloodlines. Yet…she would not be the only one who’s name would go down in history.
Gayle’s ears twitched as she heard the breaking of the clouds once more. There were skies above skies, and clouds above the gray rain clouds that Everrain controlled. Rapidly and furiously, something akin to a bullet was destroying everything in its path as it descended from the heavens towards the earth. The owl girl swung her head into the skies once more. The eyes made of suns pierced through the dark skies, and the light within them illuminated the unknown to reveal the true identity of that speeding bullet.
As the skies and clouds tore open, a section of the sky turned orange and red before a thunderous sound rang out across the land…though it was not thunder that struck. Everyone from the four forces that were in the middle of the battlefield, to the hundreds of groups and tens of thousands of peoples stalking the battle, looked up towards the skies to see a shocking sight.
One of the colossal ships of Everrain was snapped in half. The two halves of the ship slightly raised to the skies from the point of collapse, before they fell back down towards the clouds that started to disperse. In the middle of the broken ship was a gap that separated the two halves, and from it an enormous cannon-railgun made out of cloudsteel and frozen rainwater fell from the skies towards the ground.
Hundreds of the Everrain crew either ran or fell to their knees in panic and fright. At one moment they stood loftily and proudly on top of their colossal ship that rode the rain clouds in the sky, and in the next moment a meteor descended from the heavens to smite them down. Mass hysteria reigned supreme amongst most of the panickers as they slowly accepted their deaths, yet as the two halves of the ship fell a few battle hardened veterans rose to the occasion.
The few veterans directed the hundreds of panicking members to the emergency rowboats, and had them placed inside the thing in droves. As the confused but obedient crewmates sat in the rowboats, a certain individual caught their sight, and instantly calmed them down. One of two Rain Priests, also rose to the challenge and summoned his staff made of cloud and rainwater.
The rowboats were pushed off of the falling halves of the ship as the crewmates screamed. In the middle of their exciting descent however, rain clouds fluttered to their aid, and the hundreds of rowboats were accompanied by hundreds of rain clouds.
“Row! Row you fools!”
The veterans screamed as they looked at their lone, exhausted Rain Priest. At least two talented individuals were needed to keep their colossal ship afloat, and now that they only had one, they had to lessen the burden on him as much as possible. No one had the time nor the presence of a calm mind to look for their other Rain Priestess. Perhaps she was hit directly by the falling meteor and was already dead.
The four forces immediately rushed out of the surrounding vicinity, afraid of the falling remains of the ship squashing them into pulp. Gayle, the draconic heir, the Rain Priestess of Everrain, and the crystal daughter still had their attention on the skies, their gaze never left despite the chaos. The hundreds of groups and tens of thousands of people also placed extreme importance on keeping their eye on the scene.
As all of them focused their attention, one by one they caught on to something strange. Amidst the hundreds of floating boats that rowed in the sky, amidst the falling debris of the once mighty ship, was a young man and a young woman on the surface of the falling cannon.
The young man had a head full of red hair, and a single glowing red eye that shined brightly like a red jewel in the sky. He wore all black, hiding the features of his body from everyone else. The young woman had light blue hair and a white dress, she was the missing Rain Priestess of the Everrain ship.
Falling from the skies, the young woman held her staff in her hands but she was on her knees, face down in fright. In comparison, the young man stood on the mighty cannon-railgun with his arms crossed and his head held high. An air of supreme dignity exuded from him, as he looked down on the tens of thousands of people watching him. In the next moment, he directed his gaze back towards the skies…
