Chapter 74: Infamous
The draconic heir and the Rain Priestess looked towards the battle below, observing the finale of the battle between the Bluelight noble and the unknown girl. All the forces present underestimated her, and by all common sense she was not supposed to be so strong. There were many individuals heading towards the same location as them, and most of them would not come close to the level of strength that the Bluelight noble and the unknown girl displayed. With that logic, both the draconic heir, the Rain Priestess, and the Earthern Empiric force were expecting her to die within the first few moments of the battle.
All of them except the crystal princess. Gayle’s face was just too familiar. Whether the crystal daughter saw her in a dream or a vision, fate placed importance on her towards the coming spiral of events. A part of why she declined Gayle’s offer of servitude was because she wanted to reveal the true strength of the girl. Now here she was, defeating a talented royal descendant of the lightning bloodlines all by herself. A feat that only the most talented of the younger generation could do.
The Rain Priestess immediately sent out a separate force of warrior casters to keep Gayle busy, but she knew it would not last for long. Twenty Adepts riding on storm clouds approached her, and forty Adept under the white haired male’s service came to take revenge for their young master.
Suddenly Gayle pulled her sword out of the man’s body and put the blade made of pure light towards his neck. The two fell from the skies together right into the forty Adepts. Fifteen feet above them, she stopped gracefully in mid-air as her wings made of light created strong winds that assaulted the elite squad.
“He’s still alive! Look!”
Indeed, the owl girl made sure to accurately aim her sword to miss any organs that would instantly kill the young man. The Bluelight noble was still breathing, albeit laboriously from all the blood that he lost. All bloodlines had a stronger vitality than their normal human counterparts, so even if he was left on the ground to die by Gayle’s strike, it would take a few hours. Immediate first aid however, could easily make sure he made a complete recovery.
The forty Adepts readied their bloodlines, abilities, and weapons, but a single motion of Gayle’s sword to their master’s neck stopped any further ideas of retaliation. The sword made of light drew closer and lightly cut his throat, drawing blood that immediately evaporated as the heat of the sword scalded a painful scar on his smooth neck.
The Bluelight young master screamed in pain, telling his servants exactly how alive he was.
“Protect me, for my blade will not leave his neck until I get out of this alive.”
The forty elites gritted their teeth, but the twenty Adepts of the Everrain force were already approaching with their beasts made of water. Instantly five of them reacted to form a shield formation, and the other fifteen activated their abilities to battle the Everrain warrior casters.
“You!” Gayle called out to a particularly fast individual.
“Call back the people you sent after my crew and have them fight against the Everrain force!”

The warrior-scout looked at her with fury on his face, but still departed to do exactly what she said. If the young master died here, his death would come next after all. Arcs of lightning welled up on the man’s boots, and in the next moment he was fifty meters away.
Instantly the tides of battle changed once again, and it was now two organizations against one. The three-headed and six winged dragon above was still battling the tentacled monstrosity swimming in the endless clouds, but slowly the forces of Everrain on the ground and in the skies started to fall one by one.
The Adepts of Everrain fought the flood of people that the draconic heir sent with their own flood of water, but they could not match the combined might of double the people at their own level of strength. The remains of the force on the ground were either stabbed, shot by an arrow, a bullet, burned or electrocuted.
Seeing as everyone was so busy, and the eyes of the man she held hostage were blurry, Gayle decided to take her spoils of battle at that moment. The red-lightning pistol, an artifact from the Bluelight bloodline, was immediately pocketed into the strapped satchel on Gayle’s thicc thigh. She looked towards the lightning spear that the man fiercely clutched onto even in this moment where he could die, and she decided against stealing him of that one possession.
‘Where would I even stash the thing.’
‘It's not like I can imbue it with lightning anyway…’
From above, Reh-Tom the owl looked at Gayle’s stealing ventures and the chaos she made. Her owl features could not really express the emotions she felt inside, but pride and joy filled her body. The girl had gone through two battles today already. Well, one was a fight between squads, and the second was a miniature war between forces. Although she had made a terrible mistake with the first battle, the owl was pleasantly surprised at how she handled the second.
Anything could have transpired after she defeated the Bluelight noble, but instead of immediately killing the young man, she knew his worth was better alive and she used that to turn one of the forces after her life to fight the other. And now she was even stealing an artifact right under their noses! It made the owl proud of the little girl she looked after.
Correspondingly…it made her eager to see how she would deal with the next predicament.
As the forces of Everrain fell, each warrior caster riding a storm cloud plummeted to the ground, leaving less and less individuals to protect the Rain Priestess from the draconic heir. They were either swarmed with the sea of projectiles aimed at them, or worse.
The golden haired young man swooped in from an angle, kidnapping one of the warrior casters off of their storm cloud. Although he was not a physical fighter, with just one arm his draconic strength allowed him to grip an individual by the throat, and in the next moment golden flames slowly started to appear on his arms. The flames walked up to his hand that gripped the Everrain warrior, and the heir thoroughly enjoyed every second of his terrified expression. Finally, the flames consumed the man as he screamed in pain.
The heir dropped the charred corpse, and as it fell from the skies, it dissipated into ashes in the wind before it could even touch the ground. Cold cruelty met fear when the heir’s golden eyes locked on towards the remaining warriors protecting the Rain Priestess. He smiled. There were now only ten individuals left that could protect her…yet what was that pompous look on her face? Did you know that everything is going to end for you soon? Do you know what I will do to you after I break every bone in your body?
The Rain Priestess had every reason to collapse to her knees. Of the two hundred that she brought with her, a hundred and ninety of them were dead. Yet instead of hopelessness and defeat, what filled her body was haughty and furious rage. Arrogance left her face once in the moment of battle, yet it returned in even greater degree once she felt the movement of the clouds above. Even now she dared to look at the two dragons before her with loftiness and snob.
And she could…for in the next moment Gayle’s ears twitched and Reh-Tom landed on her shoulder. Under her activated illumination bloodline, the owl girl first sensed the presence of entities using her boosted sense of intuition. Although she could not ascertain their direct numbers, the number of entities that were aware of the battle going on were in the thousands, maybe even tens of thousands. The energetic fluctuations, and simply the violence and volume that was going on could attract the attention of those miles away, and it did. They were at a distance, but she could sense that the minds of thousands were focused on the major battle.
It seemed most of them were neutral parties…but the ones in the sky were definitely not. She felt their animosity as soon as she defeated the Bluelight noble. Finally when her ears twitched, she could hear the breaking of the clouds and the…creaking of wood?
BOOM!
A large beam of pressurized water descended from the clouds at an angle, it was as if a floating river was created in the middle of the skies. The beam of water attacked the three-headed dragon, and it responded with a long breath of its own river of fire. The two attacks resulted in a large area of smoke, but the assault was not over. Eight more rivers of water descended from the clouds, parting the fog and targeting the dragon’s wings. The colossal monster fell to the ground, squashing and burning thousands upon thousands of humans. The endless storm clouds parted to reveal the presence of a fleet of seven, enormous flying ships.
