Slow and Steady, case 1

Slow and Steady, case 1

After three rounds of phone call with the U.S.S.A Internet Department, Nemo decides to let go of Weiss as a compromise.

"Yep, I know she has a bond with that sibling," he explains to Kevi, "But I don't think she really engaged in. The landlord said she paid the bill for half-year one week ago, she could have avoid the process if she really wanted to get you, just call the attacker and things were done as well."

"How much possibility," Kevi still doubts, "Do they both make a collusion?"

"Perhaps," Nemo says, "But that means you need to detain two person without official accusation, one of which is a European citizen and journalist in Der Spiegel, who has nearly 3 million subscribers at her Blink channel. It's gonna be a big mess if you keep her fans waiting too long and getting no news from her."

"WoW," Kevi surprised, "I haven't heard this celebrity."

"Weiss Valentine started her career by politic critic. Typical white-liberal who support poor people, colored people, immigrants and refugees from our eastern friends. Generous, isn't she? But we all believe that she just want her personal interest: a revenge for her sister. She even ran a Blink page called 'Lighthouse' for Antje-----now becomes the biggest forum of those alleged minorities. Weiss Valentine is one of the worst journalist in our black-list. She used to keep questioning a stateman from Immigrant Bureau, treated him like a prisoner and caused him faint with hypertension."

"I hardly use Blink," Kevi shrugs the shoulder, "Call me a dinosau. I'd prefer to behave like an anonymous."

"No wonder they doubt your eastern identity," Nemo smiles, "How could anyone come from eastern Europe be ignorant about 'Lighthouse', or 'Mishabear Official'?"

"Tell me about it."

As they go down the floor to the parking lot, Nemo sends two website to Kevi.

"You can smell their taste in a second as you read these posts," he says, "First is 'Lighthouse'."

Kevi clicks the link and reads through. Indeed, she thinks, the same wallpaper on Weiss' laptop. A clock under the title shows "1172 days, 16 hours, 44 minutes and 12 seconds" on the surface of the water, with one finger from above and the other finger underwater touches each other. She checks the posts under it. Hottest one which has got 330k views was posted by "White Day"------supposed to be Weiss herself----recorded her journey to find Antje, mostly are matched with her statements.

So she walked through 17 countries, 122 cities, half of the European ghettos. She slept in the cheapest inn, some times rested under the bridge, ate the expired bread, got rubbed by local gangsters but helped by another gang, been cheated by human traffickers and almost got kidnapped during the 3 years......those are things she didn't tell.

The second hottest post is about a Polish young factory worker earning his life with his wife and three kids in Vienna. The last update was 10 days ago, which shows that he got injured and lost the job.

Most of the posts share a similar theme: make a living, and that's how Kevi could make relate. Only one good result among them. An automobile engineer who got the blue card last month was guiding other users how the process works. Besides them, new updated posts are mainly about Weiss' missing.

"No, you're not allowed to enter," seeing Kevi fails to log in the page, Nemo says, "It's a secured community. Here! I've got a hacked account for you."

Now Kevi gets what "taste" that Nemo refers to. "Gopnik" is the first word comes to her mind to describe the webpage. Many photos are about military training and their daily life. A commonly-shot image is the figure of an officer. Must be Ilich because he seldomly changed for 3 years. But Bagira is absolutely reborn-like. She shaved a short blonde mohawk hair, remade her tatoo with a black serpent winding the rose around. Sometimes she wore like her brother in breton top with fake adidas coat, sometimes she dressed in a sexy, even a little erotic way with weapons surrounding by. Maybe the only thing recalls Kevi is the same vicious smile on her face.

"Their last account was subscribed by 2 million followers, now divided into 10 small communities," Nemo humphs in contempt, "One of the most stupid decision we've made. I'd rather gather them together in a lake instead of pouring them into 10 separated swimming pools. You can't clear out the hatred simply by banning their accounts."

"Yeah, I see," Kevi watches the discussions under the photos, "The hatred almost effuses out of the screen."

Killing Europeans. Killing Russian Government. Killing Bad Employers. Killing This. Killing That. Killing Him. Killing Her......

Horrible.

Kevi leans by the car as they are ready to go.

"I still can't get the connection," she scatches the little curl at the end of hair, "My father, Fox, Valentine, and the Sibling......and I'm the poor spider stuck by the center of the net."

Houndreds miles away, the flight of Chinese Premier Chen Zhen is approaching, ready to land within an hour.

"首长,柏林那边传来消息," an agent with dark glasses reports, "Situation is getting worse since last night."

Premier Chen raises his head to the agent from a newspaper. He has a well-shaved grey hair and persisted in traditional media.

"They said," hesitates the agent, "they have encountered unexpected factors in the largest city ghetto D37."

"Was the protesters?" Premier Chen asks.

"Worse than that," the agent replies, "Some......foreign terrorist group might plan an attack against the summit. In that case......we suggest that to re-arrange our schedule."

Premier watches the view outside the window. His breath is still in calm pace, like not be affected even being told about a nuclear war.

“小张," says he, "Zhang, I heard that you once were a SPARC member?"

"Yes, sir. With 4 years duty." Zhang says, with body stands at attention.

"Good," Premier says at ease, "I'm assured of your skill. Tell Berlin that Chinese Delegation follows the schedule as we discussed before; we respect the summit and we trust their arrangement. Send my personal concern to Chancellor Adler. Our European friends need to know that we are their support as well as the Americans."
