Extremely satisfied with his results, Orion activated ‘Air Dominion’ and shot off towards the capital. On the way, he contacted Nu Rin and found out that he was located in zone 11. As he neared the capital, Orion activated ‘Invisibility’ to avoid detection. He landed in the slums of zone 11 and turned off his invisibility. He walked towards the headquarters and walked in with no opposition. The entire elite of this zone’s slums were all now his clansmen and recognized him by instinct. He headed into the master bedroom and to talk to Nu Rin. The man was patiently waiting for him, cultivating in meditation.
“Have you been enjoying the boost in cultivation speed granted to my clansmen?”
Nu Rin opened his eyes. “Yes, my lord. My cultivation speed has more than dobled. Thank you for this blessing.” This reminded Orion of just how much cultivation talent he had, as even one of Rane’s top talents had his speed doubled by receiving only half of Orion’s cultivation. As for Orion, his cultivation had also increased by a huge margin thanks to his absorption of all his clansmens’ cultivation talents.
“So, was the black market mission a success?”
“Yes. Every major black market operator is now your subordinate and we’re bringing in a steady income of 10 million gold coins per week.” Orion’s eyes widened in shock. “Since I have access to some…rare recipes, we have managed to create a drug called Angel’s Tear, which not only boosts cultivation but also provides an incredible euphoric effect upon ingestion. Luckily for us, these things also have an extemely potent addictitive effect, so all of our customers are extremely regular. The only reason we don’t make way more money is that we don’t have the resources to produce enough Tears. This slum has about 70 million residents, and almost each of them are a customer.”

“Wow. Very well done. Nu Rin, I don’t know how to reward you for this except promise of glory and splendor when the omniverse is mine.” Nu only bowed down in a show of appreciation. “Now, I have a few new tasks for you. I want you to select one or several people to keep this black market running and take over zone 10’s black market. Then repeat this process with all the other zones until our clan owns every slum in the capital. Use 75% percent of the earnings to buy more resources and expand our operation. I want the drugs to start making their way into the pleasure ditrict and bazaar, maybe even a little into the wealthy habitation district. Store the other earnings in these space treasures. Oh, and in zone 7, keep Pebros as the leader after you move on. Let me know when this process is complete.” He gave him 12 space treasures, one for each zone. “But before all that, I need your help to get hired as a royal guard. Do you have some way to arrange that?”
“Yes, my lord. I should be able to do it within a day, but I’ll contact you when everything is ready.”
“Thank you very much.” He quickly left the master bedroom, turned invisible and flew off to find Leina. She was currently in the bazaar of zone 9. He landed behind her and turned off invisibility. She didn’t even turn around to greet him, sensing him thanks to the clansman feature.
“Hey, boss. How’s it going?” Her cultivation had risen to level 3.2, which was faster than he had expected. She must have kept busy while he was in the cave.
“How the fuck did you manage to initiate Nu Rin into our clan?”
After buying a few potatoes, she finally turned around to look him in the eye. “I tricked him.” Not knowing what to say, Orion just stood there, blinking. As if oblivious to his reaction, Leina just continued speaking. “When you told us to make money and expand the clan, I thought ‘why not do both?’, so I infiltrated the Rin house as a consort, seduced Nu Rin and quickly became his favorite. He started giving me pills and elixirs and trusted me. One day, I said I had discovered a ritual that would boost both of our cultivation talents. He was skeptical, but trusted me fully, so he played along. We did the clansman ritual and bam, he was ours. He then initiated the rest of his house too. You’re welcome.”
She picked up her potatoes, turned around, and left. Orion stood rooted where he stood, completely speechless for another 5 minutes, blinking at a very concerning rate. The only reason he snapped out of his torpor was a nice merchant tapping him on the shoulder and asking if he was okay. Orion nodded and smiled at the man, then made an approving expression and nodded his head as he finally processed Leina’s story. It was now almost sunset and Orion had two things left to do. He turned around and mixed in with the crowd, turning invisible while nobody was looking, and flew off to his home zone. He landed directly in front of his hideout and resumed visibility. He repeated his familiar routine of sliding through the crack, lifting the carpet and planks, climbing down the ladder and dropping onto his mattress. It had been almost a week since he had slept, and even though level 4 cultivators had almost no natural needs, he was still a little tired. The only part of his quest left was the royal guard part, which should be handled within the day. He closed his eyes and fell into a mournful sleep as he knew this may be the last time he ever slept in this bed. He woke up at around 11, felling perfectly rested.
