Chapter 10 - Slaughter

Chapter 10 - Slaughter

He drew up his hood, dropped his satchel, made sure he had his sword and left the hideout. “Hey, system, why can’t I remember Leina?”

[I honestly don’t know. She must have some weird effect that bars her from people’e memories.]

“How strange. I’ll have to keep investigating that.” As he emerged, he donned his mask and it melted onto his face, creating an eerie-looking second skin. Since his hideout was in the slums anyway, he didn’t need to go anywhere. After some consideration, Orion had decided that his previous plan was flawed. There was no need to wait until he had his clansmen to cultivate. Orion quietly looked around to see if anyone roamed the streets and saw three people, one of which was a level 1 cultivator. He drew his sword and activated ‘Flight’, floating a little above the ground.

The image of a cloaked figure in a creepy white mask holding a katana, floating in the air in the dead of night terrified the poor cultivator to his core. He shot towards him, decapitating the man before he could even scream. His head thumped on the floor, alerting the nearest slummer. Orion flew towards him and bisected him, spraying blood everywhere, but not before the man let out a ghastly scream, awakening the sleeping slums. He activated his telekinesis and trapped the last man where he stood, then crushed him into a ball of meat paste. He floated up and summoned a fireball in his free hand.

His cloaked figure stood out against the moon, making him look like a deathly spirit that descended on the mortal world to take the lives of sinners. Alerted by the scream, people were starting to pour out of their huts, weapons at the ready. Since Orion had no AOE skills, he had no choice but to pick the slum residents off one by one. He threw his fireball at the nearest one, and it hit true. Unfortunately, even though he was a mortal, it didn’t kill him and only made him thrash about in agony. Orion shot down from the sky and stabbed the man through the heart and then sliced upwards, his katana exiting through the man’s head. He flew towards the next man, using telekinesis to hold him, and decapitated him in one swipe. More and more men and women started pouring outside, alarmed by the horrified screams of those who witnessed the bloody show. Orion released his aura, further frightening the crowd. He once more sped off towards the nearest person and sliced him in half at the waist without even stopping. This lethal dance continued as he flew around the slums, leaving only blood and death in his wake. Two cultivators of level 1 had also emerged from their huts, only to be harvested just like the mortals. In about thirty seconds, Orion had killed 40 people, including two cultivators, and his cultivation had risen to level 2.7. At present, he once more floated in the sky, observing the result of his murderous rampage. He still needed to kill either 3 cultivators or 10 mortals, but everyone was now hiding. He started summoning fireballs and throwing them at everything that looked like it could burn in order to smoke out any survivors. The plan was successful and dozens of people stumbled out of their huts, coughing. With a fiendish smile, Orion flew down and began harvesting the people like crops, letting them add to his cultivation base until he felt right on the precipice of a breakthrouh. He flew up onto the roof of a hut a few hundred meters away and felt the breakthrough wash through him as a subtle golden light emerged from his skin. The light soon died down as his breakthrough was complete.

Orion immediately allocated all his points into luck and closed the window. He stood up and shot off towards the slum boss’s headquarters. Two level 1 guards stood at the entrance, and pointed their spears at him as he approached. They were both level 1.6 salamanders with ‘Poison Master’ physiques and no aspects. With his level up, his intelligence had vastly increased, so Orion using his telekinesis skill to fling them into the wall with a huge 700 kg of force. A sickening crunch resounded from their bodies, followed by a wet splat as all their bones exploded and they turned into bloody pancakes. Orion calmly walked inside and lit a fireball for visibility. His fireball had also become at least twice as large as before and twice hotter. As he walked around, he saw many beds filled with sleeping bodies. He crushed all of their hearts with his telekinesis since their level 1 cultivation provided absolutely no help against Orion. Other than all the sleeping figures, he saw one man who cultivated in meditation, who he promptly decapitated and a couple screwing, who he skewered like a kebab. By the time he made it to the boss’s bedroom, his cultivation had risen to level 3.4. He kicked open the boss’s doors, sword out and fire blazing.
