Chapter 064: Power of the Modern World

\_Few Minutes Ago - 3rd PoV_/

The luna dragons were descendents from the goddess of the moon; specifically it was the royal family who had the honour of bearing her bloodline. A bloodline that held both the virtue of kindness & the bloodline of the second Mother. With that came great power as well as duty.

Their royal family was not particularly unique in holding some great duty, it was common sense, while holding precious treasures were essentially guaranteed. There were even a lot that needed to protect gifts granted to them by the divine. None could compare to the importance of their own treasure, though.

Few gods - even in the present day - could compare to the importance & power that the Infinite Mother held in her hay day. Yet their race was humbled with the honour to hold one of her relics. A relic so powerful that they even needed to be cautious about catching the attention of every other race.

One which had the power to rewrite reality itself; literally making anything possible as it alters the universe to be what the user desires.

Something that not even the leading gods of this world could accomplish.

The pearl of the infinite.

A manifestation of the primordial god of the infinite, verbatim, giving the user the power to do anything they desired. All the more important when the source was no longer around. It was theorised that the only reason the realms continued to function was due to the infinites nature of constant growth.

Else it would have vanished alongside the second Mother.

Such a gift was something they agreed to not utilise no matter the situation as the consequences of use was far too great. In that aspect their race made for the perfect protectors. Their natural disposition made them look at the world with a calm acceptance while looking at things from a larger perspective.

Most would be tempted to use such a power for “the greater good” as soon as something horrible happened in the world. Without thinking, for even a second, the consequences. Such power was not supposed to be used no matter how common the opposite sentiment was mentioned by fools.

That was a level of power that neither (foolish mortals nor irresponsible divine) were ever supposed to be able to use nor hold.

No one could comprehend the issues that could come up from it being used.

As such it was important that the royal family remains pure of blood so that they may be able to resist the allure of such power. Yet their newest most prestigious ruler - one who had even inherited more attributes from the 2nd Mother in addition to those of Kindness - had ran away. Taking the pearl with her.

Although that alone was fine (it was common that their leading royal held it at all times) they simply couldn’t allow for such errant behaviour. They weren’t cruel enough to deny love. It simply was a duty that the bloodline remain as potent as possible which was simply something a hybrid beast-kin couldn’t.

How could they allow that beast-kin to become the regents head consort since that would put her children first in line for taking over the duties. This was why they chased her down. What they didn’t expect was that they-

“One, two, three, four, five…” A certain short-stack dragoness had her little finger move from luna dragon to luna dragon as she audibly counted. It was a strange scene that made the dragons stop yet it was their nature as dragons that caused them to freeze right where they stood.

At a glance one way assume the serious dragons were worried about why such a young hatchling was left out in the open without any guidance. In truth they froze for the complete opposite reason.

All of their faces hardened as they looked between themselves; the strongest being a level 50 dragon which was normally more than enough to deal with any kind of enemy.

However, they couldn’t comprehend the girls' level.

“What are you planning to do?” He asked cautiously while gazing toward the ever so elusive midget dragon who seemed to be about done with her counting. In response to this question she simply tilted her head to the side before giving a bright smile. “Training my protege through the only method I know~!”

They didn’t even get to react.

She stood with her legs spread out as her hands seemed to grab something at her waist; spread apart as if what she held was a long stick or something. Ever so slightly she moved her fore-most hand further forward before pulling it back. Just like that… Their arms fell to the floor.

A simple move that disarmed all but four of them as she flicked her hand towards the only three that managed to keep their limbs intact found themselves thrown away. The rest of them all being pulled into a scene that Armor-Cordis would find very similar. Everywhere they looked there was an endless watery horizon with random roots breaking through the water with the occasional trunk.

Worse still was the fact there were twelve of them with their own preferred domain essentially just revolving around producing moonlight to enhance themselves. This was a popular style for the various high-ranked races who naturally had enough power to develop one. Just due to the nature of it.

With all of them gaining one it meant they’d begin to standardise the process once the “best” possible solution was found.

For attribute-influenced races like them… It meant playing into their element.

But-

“How can we be so much weaker…” They couldn’t even find a shred of moonlight as the air was filled with downright oppressive attributes of water, nature and some things they couldn’t expect. There was even a couple attributes they didn’t even recognise. “How many attributes do you possess?”

That girl just giggled at the worries of the dragon in front of her - seemingly not minding that they all clutched where their severed arms should have been. “Ehehe~ you are just like my cute little disciple to be all confused over a little div- domain. If I had to give a number… Maybe all of them but none of them~?”

“What is that even supposed to mean; either way the last three members will catch up to the queen and make sure your plan for the pearl falls through!” He didn’t command his fellows to transform nor prepare to attack as that was foolish. They didn’t stand a chance and the best way to earn time was to talk.

Because fighting wouldn’t last more than a moment.

Thankfully the dragoness didn’t seem particularly hard to distract as she just clapped her hands together in amusement at their leader's words. Her amusement was clear. “No clue what you’re talking about but it’ll be swell to see if those younglings can deal with my little deer~!”

“Do you think they can actually last against our people?” His question was a little most honest than one would assume - if they were related to this monster then it wouldn’t be surprising if they could. Still he could only hope that earning more time would help prevent the pearl from getting in the wrong hands.

“Oh probably not~!”

Her sudden words caused the serious dragons to do a double take. “Of course… That’s only if they don’t push her cute little buttons since she’s most innovative when she has lost her mind in anger~.”

“Though that kid is usually as calm headed as they come so what are the chances in that~?” Somehow that was actually relieving as the dragon knew his people were honourable lizards who wouldn’t be so petty as to insult an opponent even if they were weaker. As such they should be able to make this out .

Not noticing the mischievous smile on the dragon’s lips.

\_Back To Present - Armor-Cordis_/

THEY DARE.

THEY FUCKING DARE.

HOW DARE THEY.

HOW THE FUCK DARE THEY.

The sheer gal of these lizards to actually harm me like this? Was there anyone actually so stupid as to dare harm me other than those guards at the start of the game - did they think they could get away with doing something like this? Well I’ll have to show them that I am more than a pretty princess!

Sure, go ahead you scaly freaks, transform into your pathetic true forms. Let’s see how well it serves you when I take the training wheels off. “Jechehehe~ it’s amusing that you think a few scales will be what saves you from my wrath after you have sinned like this.”

I could use the heavenly golden gun to pierce their scales yet I had a better plan; much of the information I learned over the last day merged together with that of the past to create a clear route to show these fools.

“It is you who attacked us first but I won’t let you defeat us as who knows what you’ll do with the pearl!” So that fool said as he too joined his brothers in transforming. Their bodies were unique as far as dragons went since they had snake-like bodies that were thicker than what one would imagine.

Additionally they actually had similar wings slash fore-arms as the wyverns; often looked down upon as inferior descendents of the proud dragons.

Whether that was true I did not care.

“Heh~ you think we’re playing the same game, I take it?” I could feel the smile stretching out on my face as those dragons took a cautious stance. They truly were different from the dragons of legend nevertheless I can hardly let them go unscathed. “Ready to learn about the power of the modern world~?”

With that the world around us seemed to shake as it was about time this backwards world got just a little bit more… Mechanical.

“See I discovered a while ago that the inventory can’t hold anything with a soul but, as they say, machines have no souls.“ Afterall; nothing can beat German engineering unless it’s my own engineering! Behind me formed a complex structure that these simpletons would never be able to comprehend.

The whirling of mechanisms & the sound of metal being welded began to form as steam rose from the building of my own design. A rather simple product for the modern day. At least simple enough that I can easily reproduce it from memory since it was something I planned to make here.

An automatic factory.

Once I figured out that these pocket spaces were just a manifestation of our own spirit (the energy that is emitted from the soul) it became rather easy to change it. I was a spirit, after all. There was no race that knew how to control their soul energies than my own did.

Those dragons looked cautious yet they could hardly be blamed - it was right to be cautious but it was too late for them to stop me. My shadow seemed to stretch out behind me as glowing red eyes peered out from that abyss. Slowly bronze-coloured knights began to rise from the inky darkness.

“ElImInAtE ThE InFiDeLs.”

“ElImInAtE ThE InFiDeLs.”

“ElImInAtE ThE InFiDeLs.”

“ElImInAtE ThE InFiDeLs.”

“ElImInAtE ThE InFiDeLs.”

That wonderful cacophony of toneless metal scraping voices broke out.

One heaved what appeared similar to a rocket launcher, a big cylindrical weapon, with a bunch of exposed wires visible for all to see. I didn’t even bother to put rubbers on the wires. The occasional spark did hit it’s metallic body but that hardly mattered since (even if mass produced) they had my quality guarantee.

However - instead of a rocket - what can only be called a rod shot forward to impact the body of the left dragon where its scales cracked.

They seemed shocked that the magical barrier they raised didn’t stop the “magic” however the dragon at the forefront soon snorted. Shaking his head as they flew above. “Although impressive that your magic managed to piece our moonlight veil, it is no doubt an expensive spell to cast!”

“So one isn’t enough… I guess you’re right that they are expensive but, oh well, price is never something I’ve needed to worry about in this life jehehehe~!” Throwing my arms out as my brilliant bronze army began to do what they were best at. Overwhelm the puny masses who dare go against me.
