The next day Lug waited in front of his house, sitting on a chair he had placed there.
He had already sent several messages to Hannah, with no answer.
"I guess it was a bit much with all the changes..." he thought.
Eno wasn't there either.
When Lug got home the day before, he had learned that Eno and Gavan had been talking.
Eno had been briefed on the whole story.
"He must be watching TV, it relaxes him..."
Lug's pocket began to vibrate.
A message from Hannah.
Lug read it, took a deep breath and stood up.
That day, he would go to the Wise One alone.
As he entered the crypt, the Wise One's voice rang out.
"Don't worry, she'll be back. Let's get down to business now..."
Lug walked over to the ghost, still sitting in his shabby chair.
He sat down on the coffin that was still in the middle of the room.
The varnished wood crackled slightly under his weight.
The wise man crossed his arms, pipe in mouth and looking thoughtful.
"Let's see... Mmmh. Lug, I will train you. I'm going to make a gem out of you."
Lug sighed.
"Look, the reason I come to you is to better understand what's happening to me. I have no intention of training or anything like that."
"You want to better understand what's going on with you? That's fine. Listen to me carefully."
The Wise One stood up and started walking along the room.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
Then he materialized the chalkboard and the chalk from the day before, again.
"When you arrived in this graveyard, you fell asleep in front of the wall that has been under repeated assault every Sunday for the past 1000 years. The enormous energy released by the assault slammed against the wall, itself charged with energy. When two bodies very dense in psychic energy come into contact there is a shock. In this case the stone fell on your skull. Do you remember that?"
"I could never forget, I was awakened by a trumpeting sound and then I lost consciousness. When I woke up I felt pain all over my body, and it felt like my head was going to explode."
The Wise One looked fascinated by what he had just heard.
He brought his small glasses closer to his eyes.
"That's what I thought, you had crazy potential even before the shock..."
"What do you mean?"
"Mmmh, first things first. The stone loaded with energy crashed into your head. It's a first miracle. You were standing in the path of a stone that hadn't moved in a thousand years!"
"A miracle to be so unlucky, yes." said Lug in a wry tone.
"It's not over yet. The second miracle is that this stone didn't crack your skull and kill you."
Lug looked up slightly to the left, a habit he had when he was pondering.
He'd never thought of it that way.
"And finally the third and greatest miracle. The energy of that stone violently inserted itself into you and in its path activated all your psychic centers!"
"Okay, but it sounds less impressive than the previous two miracles."
The Wise One froze with his mouth open.
"Obviously… Let me explain it better... What should have happened when that stone hit your head is: nothing at all. The second possibility, in case you had an affinity for psychic energy, the flow of energy from the stone would have passed so violently that it would have shattered your organs."
Lug made a face that conveyed the disgust he felt.
He touched his stomach to reassure himself that all was well.
"But you, you foiled all the predictions. The stone hit you and the energy spread through your body. Like lightning falling on a battery with enough capacity to absorb everything."
Lug was beginning to understand that he was special.
But a part of him couldn't admit it, there had to be a catch.
"Am I going to die young because of this energy?"
"Not likely, your body was ready for such a flow."
"So... No negatives to this accident?"
"Not completely. You must have noticed that you are eating and sleeping much more than before. Plus you're still tired and hungry despite that."
Lug opened his eyes wide.
"YES! It's annoying! Why does that happen?"
"Your energy centers are constantly working at full capacity. They create so much energy that your psychic body becomes abnormally dense, so dense that you can touch and be touched by ghosts. But on top of that you are a real fountain, energy is flowing out of your body from everywhere. You create so much of it that your body needs to continually eat and sleep to keep up."
Lug stood up from the coffin, this was the first explanation that really took him by storm.
He had just realized something important.
"How do we stop this?" he said, clenching his fists.
"I advise you to sit down, the next part is less joyful."
Lug calmed down suddenly.
He felt nervous after hearing the tone the Wise One took to say those words.
He sat back down and waited for the next part.
"If you want to regulate your energy centers, you must first manage to clean up the criminal district: Primont."
