Day 1 1:30 pm
Patter placed his hand against the imposing wall, it was cold, metallic, and impenetrable. The team had followed him outside and now stared up in horrified awe. There was no sane explanation for how such a massive structure could have appeared.
“What now.” Oliver, one of the team’s freshmen asked.
“I don’t know.” When he led the team outside Patter had hoped that the next thing to do would be obvious but now that he was out here and saw just how trapped they really were. There was no flashing neon sign or directions toward the exit just an impervious wall that they could never hope to get past.
Still, they could stand here forever, they had to do something but what that was Patters just didn’t know. He turned away from the wall to face his team. They were all looking at him for answers, he was the team captain, surely he would know what to do.
“Let’s go to the locker room, we can figure out what to do there. Fin and Chuck. I want you guys to walk around the wall and see if you can find a way out.” It wasn’t really a plan but it was something and that was enough. Fin and Chuck were juniors on the varsity B team, they could handle themselves well enough to walk around the perimeter.
Patters started walking and the team followed behind him. Altim was a big school but it was far from the biggest and it was only a minute’s walk to the lockers. He paused at the door when he heard a noise from inside, the entire team was with him, no one was supposed to be in there. Patters opened the door as quickly as possible to surprise whoever was inside.
He found a short kid in loose baggy clothes making a mess of the place as he rifled through the large wooden lockers. Clothes, shoes, and other assorted items had been thrown across the floor as he stuffed his pocket full of anything he thought valuable. So that was why someone was in here. He probably thought he could make a quick buck by looting the lockers before anyone came by. If Patter hadn’t formed up and led the team here so quickly, he likely would have gotten away with it.
But Patter and the rest of the team were here and all this petty thief was going to get was a fist to the face. Realizing he was in trouble the short kid made a dash through the lockers heading for the backdoor but Patter was faster and cut him off. He turned back to run the other way but found himself cornered by the kids whose stuff he had been trying to steal.
In a desperate attempt to get away he tried to climb up the lockers but found himself grabbed by dozens of different hands which roughly dragged him down onto the floor. He tried to stand again but caught a punch against his face. There was an audible thwack and he crumpled back onto the floor. Someone kicked him and the thief grunted in pain as the foot made contact with his exposed stomach. Another foot fell on him as he curled into a fetal ball to protect himself.

Patter watched as three more blows rained down on the kid before he realized he had to intervene before they killed the boy. “That’s enough, he’s had enough.”
He forced himself through the crowd surrounding the beaten kid and pushed away the dumbasses that were getting carried away in their revenge. He stood over the fool and looked down at him, he was going to be feeling the beating for the next few days but would eventually be okay. It was a good thing Patter had stepped in when he had though because the beating was heading towards causing permanent damage. “Get him up.”
Luke and Matt two of the larger kids on the team complied and grabbed him by the arm to hoist him up off the ground. He couldn’t stand on his own and his head hung limply in front of him, but the larger kids held him firm under the armpits and stopped him from falling back down.
Patters grabbed his hair and pulled it back so he could look the bloodied kid in the eye. “Got a name you piece of shit?”
“Please, I’m sory, I won’t do it agan.” The kid could barely speak and the words came out as a quiet rasping cry.
Patters snorted at the answer, “No you’re not, you’re just sorry you got caught. Now, tell me your name.”
“Javier, Pleasse I won’t do it again.” The kid knew he’d fucked and could only beg for mercy.
“You know what Javier, I’ll be nice and let you go. But if you ever come in here again your life will be a living hell. You understand.” To reinforce the point he brought his arm back and punched as hard as he could into Javier’s exposed gut. Patters knew he had gotten the message and let go of Javier’s hair letting his head fall back down.
“Go throw him in the dirt.” They were done here, no reason to keep him around.
“Aye, boss.”
“Yep.”
Luke and Matt turned and carried the broken kid out as he dragged his feet across the floor.
“Theron where are you.” Now after that was dealt with Patter had been able to get his priorities straight. The team came first, it would always come first. Part of keeping the team safe was protecting their stuff and rooms.
“I’m right here.” A junior spoke from behind him. Patter turned around to see the dark skin middleweight that captained the B-team. He was a hardworking and reliable kid who would probably have had a spot on the A team if he had joined the sport during his freshman year instead of last year as a sophomore.
“Find 6 of your best kids and send to the wrestling room. Tell them that if anyone tries to get in they can kick their teeth in, I don’t want anyone messing with our mats.”
“No problem, I’ll take Matt and Luke when they get back.” Theron turned into the crowd and started looking for the wrestlers he wanted with him.
With Theron on his way, Patter stepped up onto the concrete bench in front of every locker so the entire team could see him. “Okay then, everyone else go to the classrooms and bring over all the desks you can get. I want a wall in front of the locker room and another to stop people from getting to the practice room. No groups Smaller than 3, seniors, your charge make sure no one wanders off. Also, Captains meeting in the shower.”
