I wonder what my first mission will be. Will I be able to pick up side quests? Will I be able to look at them in the menu? These will be things I'll have to figure out. Usually when starting a game you start in a mission, the main quest. I'll have to check my menu to see if I'm in one. I sat down on my bed, a simple wooden frame with a straw mattress and fur hide blanket with a single feather pillow. Definitely hope to upgrade this for a better nights sleep.
I swipe my hand down in the air in front of me and my menu opens. I have many options to choose from; inventory, skills, attributes, quests, map, team; these were interesting menu items. I wonder what attributes are. I click that tab and a list of things pop up. Luck 20, Attractiveness 18, Dexterity 16, Strength 10, Intelligence 19, Constitution 11, and Wisdom (Common Sense) 20. These must have transferred over from my real life. I sigh. There must be a way to increase these and I'm going to have to if I'm going to survive.
I back out of that and click on the Quest tab. Main story: Locate Survivors. Shouldn't be too hard unless they're really good at hiding. I back out of the tab and close the menu, standing and grabbing the backpack, I'll go shopping for a better looking one at some point this one just wrecks the style. I head out of the room and grab my sword once again. "I'll stop by before leaving town Isabella. Could you get me some food ready while I'm out?" I ask sweetly.
She smiles, "Of course Milady. I'll make sure you have something to eat and something to take with you." She says happily as she makes her way to the kitchenette and I head out the door.
I start looking around before picking a direction to head in, heading to the north where I assume the town hall is. There has to be someone there. I hear a scream nearby though and run in that direction to see a ruffian towering over a woman and child. I rush forward and drive my sword into the back of the attacker, I'm not the strongest though and couldn't get it to go all the way through him, actually getting it stuck as I try to yank it back out. Before I could try twisting it, the man turns and hits me in the head, next to my temple, with the hilt of his mace. I'm dazed for a moment and manage to only get grazed by his next attack, creating a nice gash on my arm. I cried out in pain and noticed my health bar drop.
I catch the eyes of the ones I'm trying to save and silently urge them to run. I look up at the health bar of the Ruffian and he's a level higher than I am but I did a lot of damage, maybe if I can disarm him I can kill him in a couple hits. He goes to swing again and I take a breath, shoot my hands forward and grab for his weapon, right above the hilt. He was using it with only one hand so his grip wasn't as strong as me grabbing it with both. We struggle for a moment before I manage to wrench it from him.
Stolen story; please report.
I stumble back a couple paces before rushing forward with a yell and slamming it into his flesh between his neck and shoulder, using both hands to do as much damage as possible. My stamina bar almost depleted but the ruffians health dropped and he fell to the ground, eyes wide as his last breath left him. I take a minute to catch my breath before straightening up and looking at the mace, it does more damage than my sword so I decide to take it. I don't want to leave my sword though, I could sell it. I twist and yank it out of the dead man's back. I search his body but he wasn't carrying anything good.
I look around and see the woman and child not too far away and approach them, "Are you two alright?" I ask.
The woman looks up in shock, "You saved us. Thank you." She says gratefully. "We're okay." I nod and get a notification that I found two of seven.
"Will you be alright now? There aren't anymore enemies nearby." I ask.
"Yes. We'll head back to our home now." She says with a smile, "I'll have something for you if you visit us." She says and takes the child, heading off to one of the damaged houses.
I'll have to keep that in mind for later. I start walking again, maneuvering around the rubble, and eventually making my way inside a collapsed house. I hear sniffles nearby and walk around the fallen beams, lifting planks of wood that blocked my path, eventually finding a young kid hiding in a corner crying. She was maybe a teenager and she hasn't noticed me yet.
"Hey sweetie, you okay?" I ask gently, "Where are your parents?"
She looks up shocked and scared but notices I'm not one of the bad guys. "M-My parents are dead." She says through the tears.
"It's alright, I think I know someone who can take care of you. It's gonna be okay." I say to her, unsure how to comfort her. I offer my hand which she takes, and help her stand. I lead her out the door and down the street to where I saw the other woman with her young son go. I find her house and knock on the door.
She answers, "I didn't expect you to find me again so quickly." She says surprised.
"Well I found a girl with no parents... I was hoping you could help take care of her." I say unsure.
"Oh darling!" She says as as sees the teen, "I'll definitely help take care of you. My name is Kit. Don't you worry your pretty little head about a thing dear." She leads the girl inside and mouths thank you, again to me before heading inside. I sigh in relief and turn back around to see where else I can search. This town isn't very big, there can't be many more places to check. I receive another notification, I have now found three of seven survivors.
