After finishing his comment an extremely heavy and gloomy pressure soundlessly engulfed the entire area.
And under this pressure, not a single person could utter a sound, nor could a single person even breath. This pressure was not only heavy, it also contained a boundless rage.
The rage was so violent that it seemed that it would burst open and explode at any moment. Everyone unconsciously looked at the source.
The aura of rage that hung in the air was too fierce and terrifying, so it caused all who were present to be unable to believe that it was coming from a boy.
A cold and emotionless voice came out of the boy’s mouth, the terrifying thig was that the voice didn’t even seem to be the voice of a human, but that of the grim reaper.
One that has toured battlefields after battlefields, and was covered from head to toe in the blood of his enemies.
In a way it felt short of Chu Hai’s but still it wasn’t too far off. This pressure felt as if the reaper’s scythe was place right against your throat.
Whereas Chu Hai’s felt as If a huge mountain like deadly beast was in front of you with his fangs baring waiting to devour you.
Shun Pei felt utter dread, and he regretted opening his mouth. He was a war veteran, one that rose all the way to general yet here he was, with his back wet from cold sweats.
His hands trembling, and his vision blurry. How could this have happened, who his this boy, and how does he possess such aura.
His mind was running all over the place trying to come up with an answer, next to him Bi Qing Han’s face became pale and her breathing was ragged.
The only one who was not affected was Chu Hai. He stood there with that smug smile still plastered on his face, he was clearly happy watching Shun Pei’s pain.
But after seeing Bi Qing Han in pain he decided to do something about it. With a caring yet firm voice he defuse the situation.
“OK, OK I think we get the point Shun Pei you should apologize to Feng’er and also Feng’er please cut it out, aunty Han isn’t feeling to well.”
Almost like it never existed the pressure disappeared, and everything returned to normal. Taking a deep breath both Shun Pei and Bi Qing Han looked at Chu Feng with horror and fear evident in their eyes.
Noticing their looks, Chu Feng just stood there with an emotionless look on his face, as if all of this wasn’t his problem at all.
Seeing his reaction each pair of eyes shifted towards one person, and that was Chu Hai. And after he noticed their gazes he laughed.
He then answered them
“We will talk later, you guys can go and wait for me in my study, and I need to have a talk with my son hahaha”
Without waiting for an answer he tapped Chu Feng’s shoulder indicating to follow him.
They walked down the hallways, and up a few stairs than again, down another few hallways before they stood before a door.
After entering the room, Chu Feng noticed it was bedroom, looking around he realized that it was plain and simple.
The only things out of place were the insane amount of books on the floor, on the bed and also on a table.
Shaking his head Chu Feng felt sick. Because of his military background and training, Chu Feng became an organized type of person.
Some might say borderline OCD. So imagine his inner turmoil when he sees all this mess in a room that now belongs to him.
Sighing a sigh of relief while shaking his head. Chu Feng again looked around and spotted an empty book shelf tucked away in the corner…empty.
Now small traces of anger were beginning to bloom. Swallowing his saliva, Chu Feng tried his best to call himself down.
Chu Hai had the same feeling as him. He felt sick, but for other reasons, to him this was a reminder of how much he neglected his son.
Shaking his head he too sighed, then taking a deep breath he began talking to Chu Feng, his tone was neither too high nor to low.
“Ok this will be your room, now I apologize for the mess, I will send a maid in to clean up for you. After that, take a bath and change out of those clothes diner will also be delivered to you in a few.”
Chu Feng nodded and then replied
“Sure will, thank you, after my shower I will reading some of these books, also send any and all books you feel would be helpful to me in understanding this country and also the continent.”
After listening to him Chu Hai also nodded and spoke to the boy
“Ok that does sound fair, well after you finish reading go to sleep tomorrow I will wake you up early and will start putting our plan in motion and for that we will need to talk and plan.”
After thinking for a bit Chu Feng agreed with the plan
“Sure that also sounds good to me.”
Seeing that Chu Feng agreed with his plan Chu Hai said his good byes and went about his business, while Chu Feng did the same.
He began sorting through the books and arranging them by alphabetical order, and then started putting them on the shelf in an orderly fashion.
Soon a knocking sound was heard, stopping the task Chu Feng walked towards the door and opened it. There he saw two young and pure beauties.
They stood there, as though they appeared from within drawings. Their petite faces were identical and written on them were nervousness.
After scanning them with is eyes in order to see if they carried weapons, Chu Feng then asked them in a quizzical tone.
“Yes, how may I help the two of you?”
With a look of bewilderment the eyes of the two girls became rounder then the moon itself, they both looked at each other, then at Chu Feng.
The one to left stepped forward, and spoke in a soft yet submissive voice saying
“Young master Feng, the master has requested us to clean up your room. So we have come to perform our task, we sincerely apologize for our lateness.”
The play was to play the fool in order to not draw to much attention to him, because nobody could change that much overnight.
And once suspicion arises, then rumors will spread, and once that happens he will be hounded by fools looking to get to the bottom of his secret.
Hence laying low is the key for survival, at least until he has sufficient data in order to survive. Being a soldier all his life he knows that it’s a dog eat dog world. No matter where you go the same principle follows.
With a smile he answered the two girls, his voice was low and deep but despite that his tone was caring and understanding.
“Oh that was fast, and please do come in. I appreciate your help in this so thank you in advance.”
The girls were once again shocked but this time they held their reaction back. They exchanged a few pleasantries with Chu Feng, and then began to work.
While the twins were hard at work Chu Feng his much needed bath, and after stepping out he spotted the twins.
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
They were standing at attention against the wall, waiting to be instructed on what to do next, looking at them a wave of protectiveness swept over Chu Feng who he himself was surprise.
All he knew was that he had the sudden desire to hold these twins in his arms and allow them to cry their pain out.
Because he knew, that deep inside these girls were hiding pain and sadness that could destroy a kingdom.
And the reason why he knew? Simple their eyes, having spent time with fellow military men, reading sadness and pain became natural.
“I appreciate your effort, and thank you for your help. Oh and from now on the two of you will become my exclusive servants.
I will convey my message and wishes to father tomorrow, so be ready to be transferred to me as soon as possible ok thank you”
Despite his calm and caring demeanor, Chu Feng was extremely worried, ever since coming here he has been displaying small traces of emotion.
And that worried him, he was a cold calculating killing machine, he didn’t possessed emotions, so why was he now showing them.
After the girls left, Chu Feng once again laid down on the bed and began reading a few books on this world.
He came across three books, they were about cultivation, alchemic, and about artifact refinement. Thinking nothing of it Chu Feng indulged himself and read them.
In a different part of the mansion, Chu Hai was sitting behind a desk while Shun Pei and Bi Qing Han were sitting in front of him.
Shun Pei was the first one to speak. He had scowl on his face and he it was obvious he was serious, and truly wanted to get answers.
“Chu Hai what the fuck was that earlier, why can this brat of yours display killing intent that powerful. That shit was on par with a great general.”
Bi Qing Han on the other hand was silent. But her eyes were displaying a mixture of emotions, being the wife of a former great general she was used to feeling a tiny bit of that intent.
But for it to come from a boy no older than sixteen, and that on record has never seen combat is a really disturbing.
Chu Hai smiled and answered Shu Pei’s question, his face was that of a proud parent, bragging about his son to others.
“Who said he has no combat experience? Humph I dare say he has more combat experience than any other kids of his generation.
The only problem is that he has yet to awaken his spirit yet, but I plan on doing something about that tomorrow.
I will try and see if he is either useless, a genius or a cripple. If he is a genius after I’m done with him he will be a force to be reckoned with. “
Silence descended in the room nobody said nothing. What could they say in this situation? It was true once his spirit was awakened he would become a dragon amongst men.
Bi Qing Han in a soft voice spoke her worries to Chu Hai
“There is a possibility that he has no spirit. There is also a chance that he is a cripple, and in the most extreme case he by chance possess the heavenly sealed veins, what do you think?”
Leaning back on the chair Chu Hai closed his eyes for a bit. After briefly thinking he reopened his eyes and a worried expression appeared on his face.
After shrugging, he answered her
“I don’t know. But I plan on getting to the bottom of this by tomorrow. Sigh I hope he doesn’t disappoint me, I really don’t want to go with option B.”
Everybody in the room once again lowered their heads and sighed together, clearly they were not happy with the second option.
“Well keep me posted I will do my best on my end and see if I can help you. I will have to leave the estate in two days, Mei lixue and I need to go back to Jingshi and visit my father.”
After recovering her bearings, Bi Qing Han said with a smile on her face
After hearing her Chu Hai also smiled, then he stood up and walked towards her and patted her on the shoulder and said.
“Right, well I wish you and Xue’er a safe trip and pass my regards to your old man Bi Hai”
“Sure will, alright see you later gentlemen”
After speaking Bi Qing Han stood up and left the study. Her walk was as alluring as ever, her waist swayed from left to right like a water serpent.
Both men couldn’t help but to stare at her enchanting back, sexy slim waist and perky butt. It was hypnotizing.
After reaching the door she stopped and giggled a bit, loud enough for the both of them to hear. She opened the door and send them both a teasing smile and said.
“You are staring again”
After saying her piece she walked out, leaving both men in a daze. They were embarrassed, and the same time laughing.
After shaking his head in order to clear his mind. Chu Hai looked at Shun Pei who was still seated to his right and said
“What about you, got any plans?”
Looking up Shun Pei shrugged his shoulders in a defeated way, clearly he was not as busy. Then his eyes opened wide as if he realized something.
He then scratched his nose and sighed. He replied Chu Hai.
“I almost forgot I said i promised Shun Ji that i would help him with his ‘Strategical homework tomorrow’ ugh me and my big mouth”
Laughing at his defeated attitude Chu Hai then replied with his signature smile still plastered on his face.
“Well you reap what you sowed”
After shooting him with a death glare, Shun Pei stood up and stretched himself a little bit before making his way out the study without as much as a word.
Normally that would considered rude, and Chu Hai had every right to be angry at his friend/subordinate’s attitude, but no, he stood there still laughing at him.
After Shun Pei left. The smile on Chu Hai’s face slowly disappeared, walked back behind the desk and looked outside the big window overlooking the rear court of the estate.
The scenery looked fresh out of a heavenly painting. Koi fishes were swimming in the pond, with beautiful flowers floating on the surface.
The flowers and the bushes were meticulously groomed, and the trees were robust and gave a feeling of security.
After sighing one more, he too made his way out the study, his steps were resolute. They were that of a man that made up his mind.
Slowly but surely the sun made its way up over the horizon. Birds started chirping and singing, and the maids and butlers of the estate were on the move.
It was morning and it was the start of a brand new day.
In his room Chu Feng sat there with a pile of four books in front of him. Each book was the size of a military footlocker.
They were big, very big each one them had well over fifty thousand pages and counting. They had diagrams, painting, and step by step processes.
There was no concept of volumes. Everything was just dumped in one giant book, the first few hundred pages may be for beginners but the rests were not.
If any rookie wanted read these entire books, it would take them well over three months. And that is if they were really focused to do so.
But for Chu Feng he had completed them in one night. If any scholars were present they wouldn’t whether to laugh or to cry.
This was unprecedented, clearly this person would not be human. But Chu Feng was not a normal human, he was genetically modified super soldier.
After closing the last book, Chu Feng stood up and proceeded to do a set of morning exercises. He was waiting for Chu Hai to come and pick him up.
After completing his morning routine, a soft knock came from the door. With his heighten senses he had already figured out he it was from the moment they turned the corridor down the hall.
He stood up and went to the door. After opening it, two beautiful girls who looked identical to one another greeted him.
“Good morning young master we are to help you with your morning necessities”
The one to left once again spoke. Without giving it much thought Chu Feng agreed to let them help him, even though he didn’t need their help at all.
After helping wash his back and put his clothes on. They proceeded out of the room and towards the dining hall.
Everybody were already in the process of eating. Bi Qing Han and her daughter we enjoying themselves and were giggling about.
While Chu Hai was stuffing his face with gusto. The only one who was not enjoying himself was Shun Pei, he looked upon Chu Hai with disgust.
Upon noticing Chu Feng’s arrival. Chu Hai put his chopsticks down and beckoned him over, as the seat to his right was empty.
Breakfast was normal besides the usual conversation nothing out of the ordinary happened. Soon both Bi Qing Han took her leave, followed by her daughter.
And after some formalities so did Shun Pei, after the table was clear. Chu Hai and Chu Feng sat there in silence.
After a brief yet tense, and awkward silence Chu Hai broke the ice so to speak. He put his tea cup down and looked at Chu Feng and said.
“Today I’m going to attempt to awaken your martial spirit, if you have one that is. And don’t worry about 1% of the population doesn’t have one, but it doesn’t mean they cannot cultivate.
It’s just that they will be slightly weaker than those who do possess one. Also martial spirits are separated by levels from 1-10, with 1 being the strongest and 10 the weakest.”
After saying this he stood up from his chair and Chu Feng did the same. They walked out of the room and proceeded towards the training hall.
Once they arrived, they were greeted by a large amount of soldiers in the middle of their morning routines.
After saluting them, Chu Hai and Chu Feng proceeded further in until they entered the private training room reserved only for Chu Hai and his guests use.
During all this Chu Feng observed everything from the layout of the estate to the soldiers stationed at what point.
And in the process managed to complete 75% of a mental map of the entire estate. Now once again Chu Hai stood across from him with about 5 yards difference.
And he once again started talking to Chu Feng about martial spirit and they’re use in this continent.
“Like I said earlier martial spirits are divided by levels, for example his a commoner was found to possess a 1st level martial spirit, he would recruited by the military, the heavenly martial temple, and even by some nobles who are trying to bolster they’re forces.
They are even instances where some have been recruited by the royal family, or by their branch families.”
Martial spirit are divided into four categories. Beast, weapons, plants, and object. A warrior’s strength is closely related to the strength of martial spirits.
On the continent, martial artists use numbers to measure against one another. There are 5 realms in total”
After a while Chu Hai proceeded to tell Chu Feng about the level and names used by martial artists on the continent.
Mortal realm
* Level 1-9 ( Martial novice)
* Level 10-19 (Martial artist)
* Level 20-29 (Martial warrior)

Sovereign realm

* Level 130-139 (God Overlord)
* Level-140-150 (God Monarch)
After listening to these terms and power levels, Chu Feng felt a headache coming, and inwardly sighed to himself thinking
‘WHAT HELL DID I GET MYSELF INTO’
But despite all he did not show it on his face and kept on absorbing all the information from Chu Hai. Little did he know that what he learned today would change his life forever.
He would rise to become an existence that shook this continent to its very core. But as of right now he was nothing more than a confused young man.
