The information played havoc with Unbound’s own mind for a moment despite o longer being human and losing any emotional attachment to his human memories he did remember bleeding out across the floor of the forest as his soul was torn from his body.
He also remembered being barely conscious within the gem as he was carried about here and there with the skeleton, unknowing if her would survive the day or be found out and experimented on. The fear that followed him everywhere throughout that time, the helplessness of his senses and abilities never allowed him to flourish because of the cloying mana of the Undead.
His Dungeon instincts hated it, being so exposed and helpless, so trapped and unable to do anything. The sheer inability to do ANYTHING was against everything a Dungeon was for. A Dungeon was to be constantly creating and making, shaping their own worlds as a personal defense force.
The idea that could happen again made Unbound want to draw from the Void to obliterate anyone who came for him again. Whilst all these thoughts ran through his mind Elvinia and the necromancer continued talking.
“So, what do you wish to do if we took you in, the sentient races are not known for the ability to sit still terribly well?”
“Hopefully, I want to further my experience as a necromancer, especially as I know this Dungeon can spawn Undead.”
“So, you intend to not only seek sanctuary but power as well.”
“Yes. But to be fair my research will probably help out the Dungeon as well so it is not just me who will get more powerful.” The necromancer retorted to the Dungeon fairy.
“She can stay, I believe I have the ability to craft the fourth floor now and can build it with some habitation in mind,” Unbound said mentally to Elvinia. “And if what she says is true, and we will try and collaborate with our other guests, we could use any strength boost, no matter how minor.”
Elvinia could agree that a Dungeon was immortal and their growth rates to reach higher ranges of power reflected that fact, boosts from mortal but faster growing sentient races would help tremendously.
“You can stay for now.” She directed at the necromancer. “Wait here for now whilst the next floor is made alongside any accommodations.” The necromancer gave a happy nod before stepping back out into the Boss room.
“What was that?” Unbound directed at Elvinia now the other concerns were momentarily taken care of. He was curious, thankful, and scared of what she had done to him to mute his Void connection, it was slowly coming back now but not yet full strength.
“A secret of the Dungeon fairy race,” Elvinia said. “We have changed and evolved over time to better help manage Dungeons and whilst you will gain others alongside me, I will be second only to your ability to manage. It is hardwired into the Dungeon fairy race especially with matching affinities, not that you would be able to work with a fairy of different affinity, but it would show in other Dungeons if they don’t have the same affinity. Clashes and disagreements due to small differences in how they think.”
She stopped for a moment as she shook her head.
“Not that what I just explain what happened but in short due to our connection and my own race I have more control and ability over the Dungeon compared to anyone apart from yourself. As you were incapacitated at the time I could intercede with our affinities and control over the Void elemental in which I could cut it off from you and stop it piggybacking off your Void affinity and connection and thus dissipate it.”
Whilst Unbound didn’t fully understand HOW she did it he could understand she could do it because of how he was in pain and unable to reassert control and their unique connection. No one else should be able to do it and he was safe from someone taking over his defenders.
After talking for several more moments he went to make the fourth floor whilst she took the necromancer and the various elementals to talk with his other guest and make sure they didn’t fight one another with the elementals to prevent anything happening.
Unbound quickly started the now-familiar action of pulling a new floor space from the Void and tying it to himself. He crafted the familiar sphere, it seemed to get exponentially bigger each time he built one and the fourth floor seemed slightly larger than the third.
He followed the tiresome process of filling it with stone and other matter, Create matter was a skill, and with usage creating matter was more efficient and faster. It made filling the space but as it was bigger it took similar amounts of time, several hours to a day, time to just fill it so it became reality rather than just Void.
Now with the understanding he may be facing an army of Undead and having to repel them often he couldn’t create a floor of living creatures and defenders. Undead were designed to kill them, to outlast them, to outnumber them, and to replenish their numbers with every living creature that fell. Even the differences in Undead showed their preference for killing living beings, necrotic poison and plague bearing was to kill and weaken the living in large numbers.
Thusly, Unbound could not afford to play to the Undead’s advantage but rather his own. Dungeons were living beings that BUILT THEMSELVES to trap and kill all who dared enter. He would make his fourth-floor full of Earthen Elementals and carve the sigil of Purge Undead enchantment all across their bodies.
He would make it a floor similar to the Ant’s nest, full of twisting narrow tunnels that prevented the use of superior numbers and reinforce the walls to the point of mana exhaustion. He would fill those tunnels with his defenders and traps also covered in sigils of Purge Undead.
‘Hmm didn’t he have to place accommodation for the sentients as well?’
