Unbound was shocked for a moment, whilst he understood that the Churches party would have spoken about him and they had found out about his existence else wise, he didn’t believe so many people would know.
And the bandits finding out clearly said that the Church was not discreet about who they told but Unbound did not like people knowing about him whilst he didn’t know about them. The lady who spoke to him had a general aura of royalty and kindness, she seemed used to her orders been followed and quickly.
“You would be correct,” Elvinia said from her tree perch, Unbound nearly snapped out an order then seeing both guards slightly turn towards his fairy’s voice.
“The dungeon fairy.” The royal lady greeted. “Do you have a reason for imprisoning us instead of simply killing us?” Unbound had expected more flowery words from the Priestess and was pleasantly surprised by her honesty.
“Knowledge, what other reason could there be,” Elvinia replied.
“Of what sort?” The human lady responded.
“Of what the other races think about this dungeon, where we are, and a few other questions?”
“I do not believe that we would have a problem answering these questions under one condition.”
“What?” Unbound focused more, suspicious more now.
“Sanctuary.” The Priestess said simply. Unbound was extremely suspicious, asking a Dungeon for protection should not be a common thing. Despite Dungeons and the sentient races having a symbiotic relationship, it was a relationship of death and destruction.
“You can stay for now; the discussion is postponed for the future based on more permanent arrangements,” Elvinia said, saving Unbound the trouble of deciding before she flew off back towards the core room.
With them being more permanent guests Unbound formed windows made of quartz upon their two-room structure as well as adding a wooden door and two extra rooms for each to have their own privacy.
As Elvinia was halfway back to his core room he pulled the elementals back, carving out a small room where they could wait until he had another floor for them to go within. When he had enough defenders of affinity types, he planned upon building different floors with different affinity types as a theme.
He would likely evolve elementals eventually to their next level of strength as well soon enough. That level of power would require several new floors before they would be placed, however. Unbound still wished to build more than one of the floors as he seemed to unlock more and more Undead patterns with every new Undead incursion from the Deadlands, they seemed to be increasing in frequency and strength.
Several skeletons and zombies seemed to march into his Dungeon every couple of hours and the defenders upon his first floor were getting stronger and stronger. They were quickly adapting to survive the frequent Undead invasions, smaller creatures, bats, and rats, were immune to most necrotic poisons and the wildcats and spiders were well adapted to tearing apart the Undead.
If any Undead managed to get past the defenders to the boss, they needed sufficient numbers to overwhelm the boss before they could move to the next floor. The ant’s nest was the furthest point that the Undead invasions had reached.
So, whilst his new guests settled back within their temporary housing and Elvinia relaxed atop his core Unbound went to do something he had wanted to do for a while.
He pushed his territory outside of the portal and started claiming territory outside his personal Dungeon space. It was far more difficult than he remembered, and he could also see Elvinia staring at him nervously as he did so. When he had talked with her about his plan of action, she agreed but stated it would likely be far harder as he was taking land away from his own place of power.
It took half an hour to claim an inch and all he could see from there was that he was sequestered within a rock face, the rock was moist with moisture, and molds and mosses grew. The floor he had claimed was covered in bone powder and zombie flesh scraps which he promptly absorbed.
He pushed out his territory slightly further and started to twist the entrance, despite the fact his most frequent visitor at the moment was Undead he wished to create a grander entrance for the slowly more frequent sentient visitors.
He shifted the stone to become clear quartz and he implanted several light affinity stones within to make the structure glow. He let some water trickle down to reflect the light emitted by the quartz, the sculpture was like a grand arch twisted around the portal with water trickling either side.
It seemed to frame the portal in a way to show the emptiness of the Void, the lack of it. He could not create a sculpture to represent the Void using materials from reality because it was the exact opposite of the materials.
He was not as worried about revealing his affinity at the moment due to the fact the Deadlands was slowing any intentions to form a Dungeon Town around him. Elvinia had taught him that after a while the sentients set a town around his entrance and prevented nearly any new patterns from being found that way.
Even as he claimed territory around his portal another group of Undead was moving into his range of vision, unusually they had another necromancer figure with them, and they were marching in ranks.
This necromancer had no ragged cloak but rather a deep black cloak that fastened like a cape atop of white armor of toughened bones. The man looked back at where Unbound was watching from and Unbound realized that the man could see him.
“Elvinia there is another Necromancer at the door. And this one can see me!”
