At the final battle where the heroes assaulted the necromantic forces that surrounded the necromances necropolis. The grand structures of bone were filled to the brim with tomb lords and skeletal abominations, zombie kings, and banshee queens. The surrounding mountainside where the necromancer had set up his home was filled with the unquiet dead.
A skeletal warrior with a wandered far away from the main forces. The weakest of the undead they strayed far from the necromancer’s seat of power. Placed directly in the team of heroes’ path. This skeletal warrior was different, created from the corpse of a minor noble noted for their skilled swordsmanship this undead held a beautiful sword embedded with a large pulsing black gem. Within this gem was a soul and this soul was alert. After a few weeks, its death had been accepted and memories had faded. Scraps of knowledge remained alongside a desire to create, destroy and grow.
The soul pulsed as it ‘looked’ at the clearest item within its vision.

To its own fleeting scraps of knowledge, the last menu it had seen was far more informative in comparison to this one. With separate tabs for skills, spells, talents, and overview. What was not on its previous menu was the shop. Which the soul currently had no further knowledge. The soul currently waited because what it could tell from its ‘vision’ its trapped presence within the gem had gone unnoticed by the undead. It ‘blinked’ away from the menu as its surroundings started whipping wildly about. From what it could tell the sword was being swung at the larger beacons of mana that was closing on the sources of cloying, sluggish mana. Just like the one that wielded him. Its own mana swirled along the blade preventing the use or escape of his own mana. The world swirled around as the sword was swung around. It abruptly stopped as the skeleton holding the sword was beheaded by a swordsman hero.
The sword flew through the area the came to a screeching halt as the blade of the sword got stuck in a fissure in the earth.
The soul felt the restrictions ease as the dark mana that channeled down the sword vanished and upon the ‘screen’.

The soul felt exultant and it felt the power of its own mana was regenerating. It quickly started pushing the mana it had into the metal of the blade confining its gem. It saw the sources of massive mana move off, cutting down the dark mana sources as they went.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The soul turned its attention away from them and turned its attention to using its swiftly regenerating mana into claiming its confines.
A Few Hours Later
Skill Gained: Claim Territory
As the sword saw it a rush of knowledge entered its mind and it started using its mana more efficiently to claim territory around it. Once it claimed a meter of territory around the sword it changed tactics. Using the mana, it started trying to move the earth that the sword was buried in. Small bits of the earth at a time the sword stared sinking deeper into the ground. And soon enough.
Skill Gained: Shape Territory
The soul grinned and started moving faster.
Many Days Later, Many miles underground
It felt safer, away from the necromantic hordes and the discerning heroes the first mile of the tunnel dug straight down was closed back of and much of the other stone was absorbed or pushed elsewhere and now the soul felt safer in its current resting place it brought up the ignored notifications.
Skill Gained: Pocket Dimension (Dungeon Variant)
Patterns Gained: Soil Level 1 – 11, Common Stone Level 1 – 4, Granite Level 1 – 2, Bone Level 1 – 8, Moss Level 1 – 5.
Achievement Gained: Earth Mover

The soul felt a burst of strength but before looking at the Status Screen focused upon the Achievement.

The soul then opened the screen and immediately felt a burst of annoyance.

Upon looking at the screen it focused upon the name. Now far away from its warden, it felt no desire to hide and therefore pushed a thought at the screen.

Unbound looked at his four choices and even as his instincts pushed towards the last option weighed them up and what could benefit him. The first seems safe to him, stable but slow. The second his mind refused to consider whilst most memories had fled his death at the hands of undead and his life surrounded by life refused this issue. The third caused his past life to jump with joy at the idea of working with massive and powerful forests. The fourth was worrisome because he could see how he had unlocked or earned the other three options, how he could have earned that specialty however it seemed a truly unique and customizable option that his instincts pushed towards.
Slowly he made his choice.
Warning once specialty has been chosen it can not b changed. Continue?
YES NO
With a final mental push, he lost consciousness once more.
