The Camp of horrors - Ch 18

The Camp of horrors - Ch 18

“Good morning.” Amelia says with a smile, while poking me awake. She is leaning over me staring into my eyes with the blankets covering her.

“What time is it?” I grumble before slowly sitting up, pushing her to the side.

Weird seems like Abby didn’t have an issue with it after all.

“It’s around 8, let's grab some breakfast.” She says cheerfully, before slipping out from under the blankets. She is wearing a white nightgown, but she has really bad bed head.

“*scoff* You should probably brush your hair, and change first.” I say while getting out of the bed, I still have the same clothes on that I did yesterday.

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot I’m just in a good mood.” She says while walking to the back of the tent with jolly steps.

Why the hell is she so happy. It’s not like we did anything we just slept in the same bed…

“Where’s Abby I figured she would already be here seeing as she fell asleep so early.” I call out while looking around.

“Oh, she was REALLY tired, she probably won't be up for another couple of hours!” She calls back to me, while brushing her hair.

Weird. I wonder how Galv’s project is coming along. I should have woken up earlier to help him again.

“I’m going to go check on Galv, I was helping him yesterday make the…uh I forgot the name of them. Just come find me by the fire closest to the forest.”

“Okay, I’ll make sure it's fantastic today.” She says while humming a slight tune while still brushing her hair.

I exited the tent, just to bump into Jasmine, who was standing just outside the tent.

“Oh, sorry about that Jasmine, what are you doing outside the tent?” I say while grabbing onto her shoulders, steadying her.

“Oh, I was just, err… coming to get you. Galv wanted to ask for your help again.” She says while rubbing her chin.

“Oh perfect, that's actually where I was heading. Care to follow me?”

“Oh, uh no. I’ve got other things I’ve got to get done. You know my girls… refuse to help.” She says after a thought.

“Alright I’ll see you around then.” I leave Jasmine by Amelia’s tent and head over to the fire.

Galv is sitting on a log, with a much larger pile than before. He looks to be about 60% complete though. The fire next to him is roaring, keeping the dew of the morning from accumulating. Last night must’ve not been as cold, as I don’t see any frost anywhere.

“Hey Galv, need some more help. Jasmine told me you did.” I say while taking a seat.

“Oh, no I’m fine, I’m not sure what gave Jasmine that idea. I haven't seen her today, but if you insist I could use the help.” He glances over towards me.

Oh, Jasmine must’ve lied… She must’ve been snooping on me and Amelia trying to figure out if the rumors were true or not. Ugh

“I’ll always lend you some help, here pass me the knife.” I say, as I pick up a log from the ground.

Galv passes me the knife, and I continue what I was doing the previous day. A couple of small children came to watch us, including Raphilia. They didn’t say anything, just sat on the opposite side and watched us carve the Vbi-Armana’s. A few women came over to throw some more wood on the fire, but not any familiar faces. None of them seemed like they were scared of me though.

“Hey, breakfast is ready if you care to join me.” Amelia says after I had been helping Galv for about 45 minutes. As I turn to look at her, she is wearing the same leather armor, as the day we went to town. She has her brown hair done up in a ponytail, her blue eyes being emulated by blue sapphire earrings on both ears.

“Are you going to town today?” I say while taking a look at her outfit.

“Oh, no this is just a precaution. Don’t worry about it, come on let's go eat.”

And now I’m worrying about it. Why would Amelia wear leather armor if she's not going to town…

“Alright, let’s go. Galv, I should be able to help again tomorrow morning.” I say before leaving with Amelia to have breakfast. Galv replied with a grunt, as he continued to work.

“Okay, here it is. What do you think?” Amelia says while taking a seat. The breakfast today was way better than anything else she made. There was more meat that looked the same as last night’s, and what appeared to be pancakes with maple syrup.

“I think… I don’t know what to think. Why are you making such extravagant food?” I reply while taking a seat.

“Oh, you know… you never know when you might die.” She replies in barely a whisper, I couldn’t make out the last bit. “Anyways, enough worrying, lets just enjoy the food. While we can.”

“If you say so.” I grab a pancake and put it on my plate, pouring some syrup on it. Damn, it’s been a while since I’ve had this. I take a greedy serving of syrup, before biting into the pancake. The flavor explodes in my mouth. Oh God that is good.

“Amelia, what did you say? I didn't quite hear you.” I say while putting a piece of meat in my mouth.

“I sa—” I glanced up, as Amelia stopped talking. Her face is contorted in a look of pure fear. I watch as she jumps up from the table and dashes towards the back of the tent before sliding under the bottom.

“YOU GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!” A loud woman's voice yells out behind me. My danger sense triggers making me want to run from whoever the person behind me is. I slowly spit the meat in my mouth out and glanced over my shoulder. Abby is standing fully suited with her blade drawn in the entrance. Her face is bright red with rage, as she rushes out of the tent after seeing Amelia escape.

Oh shit, what have I gotten myself into. This isn’t a refugee camp, this is a camp of horrors. I’ve got to get out of here before I get killed. I start scarfing the food down in front of me. This is probably going to be the last time I eat for a while. After getting a few mouthfuls, I rush over to the side of the tent and grab my sword and shield. I make my way towards the entrance, as fast as I can.

“And where do you think you’re going?” A stern woman’s voice says, before appearing before my very eyes.

I stumble backwards, falling onto the ground. The shield making a dull thud, and the sword clanging down to the ground. Who the fuck is this person? Standing before me is a woman. She has deep blue eyes much like Amelia’s, and a black set of armor much like Abby’s. She is holding a dagger in one hand and is imitating a sense of bloodlust.

“I- I- I was… I was ju- just leaving.” I stammer out from the ground.

“Well, not anymore. You’re staying here until they come back.” She says while sliding the dagger onto a belt around her waist. Ah shit, I’m so fucked.

I stood up and brushed myself off, before replacing the sword and shield back. Every time I would so much as take a step towards the entrance the woman would tilt her head down, as if daring me to try. Well that’s not going to work, maybe I should slide under the tent like Amelia did.

“I know what you’re thinking, and don’t even try it. I can throw this dagger faster than you can blink.” The woman calls out in a sly voice, while gripping the top of the dagger.

Well, guess I will just wait and see what happens.

After waiting around the tent for a couple hours, Amelia came in, or should I say was dragged in by her ponytail. Abby strolled through the entrance, glistening in the lantern light soaked in sweat. She casually walked by the mystery woman and dragged Amelia onto the bed.

“*sob* You know you can’t do this Abby. I will tell my mother about this.” Amelia says while sobbing on the bed.

“Oh, really. Well Elizabeth, what do you think of your daughter's actions.” Abby says, turning towards the mystery woman.

The moment the words left Abby’s mouth it was like a pin dropped. Amelia instantly stopped sobbing, barely craning her head towards the woman. I completely held my breath, unable to comprehend what was happening. As for the mystery woman, she dropped her black hood revealing a set of brown hair with slight blonde streaks running through it. Her face was nearly identical to Amelia’s except for her nose, and eyebrows.

“I think we all need to have a little sit down. Especially you, Amelia. You may be wondering how I got here so fast, well I actually was planning a surprise visit, but just so happened to find Abby knocked out from a sleeping poison. Now my dear daughter. How about we have a conversation.” Elizabeth says casually, as she walks towards the bed.

Oh if things could get any worse. What is this life? What God did I piss off.
