“Both of you take a seat at the table. Amelia, dry your eyes, you look like a mess. Abby grab me another chair and you sit at the table.” Elizabeth says while pointing at me. I begrudgingly take a seat, as Amelia dabs her eye with a cloth. She follows suit and sits at the other chair. Abby left the tent and returned a few minutes later with a chair. “Thank you Abby, Abby why did Amelia use poison on you?” Elizabeth said while sitting down in the chair.
“I don’t know Ma’am, she must’ve poisoned my lunch. She made me a sandwich, and after eating it I became really tired and fell asleep until you woke me up this morning with those herbs.” Abby replies while standing behind her.
“Okay, Amelia, why? This is a very serious turn of events. Abby is your personal guard, but you knocked her out so she wouldn't be able to protect you. I will not stand for this. Explain your actions, or I will send you back to the keep and you can deal with your father.” Elizabeth says with a sigh.
“I did it because… I wanted to sleep with Kusk and Abby said she wouldn’t allow it. I promise we didn’t do anything, we just slept. He— he reminds me of Baxter.” Amelia states with her head down, tears forming once again.
“And I’m assuming you’re Kusk. Amelia, Baxter is gone. Ugh, Amelia you have to grow up, I know losing your younger brother last year was hard on you and you were both so close, but you can’t just do whatever you want. Well if I say no, I will probably end up dead and my body dumped somewhere. No one will come looking for me as a free demi. If I say yes I will get 10 gold coins, which should last me for a while. I don’t really have a choice. “That is fine with me. I do have one request though.” I say after pondering the question.
“What is your one request?” Elizabeth says with a slight sigh at me not immediately accepting.
“Can I have a map also?” I replied. A map would help me a lot. I think heading to a place not controlled by humans would be a better life. Maybe I should find my mother.
“Yes I can provide you with a map, and 10 gold. Do you accept?” Elizabeth replies.
“Yes” I say standing up and grabbing the sword and shield.
Amelia looked up with teary eyes, but didn’t say anything. She must know this is probably for the best. Abby surprisingly appeared to have a solemn expression, but did not say anything. Elizabeth stood up from the table and walked over to me and handed me a small pouch and a map. As I walked out of the tent the last thing I heard was Elizabeth’s soothing voice talking to Amelia.

Outside the tent I went to the few people I had met, the first person I went to was Galv, because I knew where he would be. I told him I would be leaving and not coming back, he didn’t seem shocked, as if he knew the situation. After leaving him I strolled through the camp and found Becca. I told her I was leaving, and asked her to tell her mother Jasmine. She had a sad expression, but wished me luck in the future. I walked to the edge of the camp closest to the road and opened up the map.
Looking at the map Felkstead, the place my mother raised me to age seven, was extremely far away. It would take me atleast 5 months of traveling to reach it.. Damn, That drug that they gave me was super strong. Sorry mother, but it doesn't look like that's happening. I look for a kingdom that's not run by humans that's close by. The closest Kingdom that is not run by humans looks to be roughly 3 weeks travel east, it is a very small kingdom. Well I’m glad I’m already on the east side. Making up my mind, I plan on going to Dvao Kingdom, a kingdom that according to the map is run by dwarfs. I hope they are more welcoming of my kind, but first I need to get some supplies for the road. Maybe I should check the adventurer’s guild and see if there is an escort job.
I make my way to the entrance of Ghum, luckily the guards who were working the day me and Amelia went in were working and they let me in without charging me a fee. Immediately after entering the town and making my way through the streets I’m once again criticized by rude comments as people walk by. Fuck these people.
I find my way to a 2 story building with a large sign sitting out front that reads Treveut’s Traveling Supplies. The building itself is not too spectacular. It sits off the main road quite a ways down one of the alleys. The outside has faded paint, and moss growing from the corners of the windows. Well, might as well see if I can get some supplies. I walk through the single door on the front. Walking inside I see a short man with a bald head, and goatee sitting behind the bar on a stool.
“Welcome, welcome. What can I get you sir, don’t you worry about being a demi as long as you got money I don’t care what race you are!” The man springs up from a sunken position and eagerly greets me.
Glancing around the store, I see lots of backpacks, tent equipment, tools, and cooking supplies. Looks like I chose a good place, maybe my luck’s turning around.
“I’m looking for enough traveling supplies to last a 3 week journey.”
“Oh I can definitely help you with that sir. Just one moment.” The man dips below the bar as he jumps off his stool. He walks out from the back and only stands about 4’ high, but he eagerly starts grabbing supplies that are scattered around.
“Thank you.” I reply while watching him start to neatly pack supplies onto the bar.
“Alright that should be everything except for food. Unfortunately I just don’t have rations here, due to them going bad before they are bought. Anyways let me just add this all up… Alright so everything here will cost 8 silver. Can you afford that?” The man replies while glancing up at me.
I hand him one gold coin, and his eyes light up at the sight. “It was a pleasure doing business with you, I hope to see you again, but I doubt I will because this is what you’re buying. Haha.” He hands me 2 silvers in change, but calls out to me before I reach the door.
“Are you possibly going to Dvao Kingdom?” The man says as I was walking out.
“That was my plan, yes” I replied, turning back to him.
“In that case, can I have you do me a favor. I have a brother who's in the first town you’ll get to. His name is Wulbrum you’ll probably find him at one of the inn’s drinking his fair share of whiskey. Anyways, could you give him this letter.” The man produces a peice of parchment from under the bar and slides it across the bar.
“Yeah I can do that.” Might as well seeing as I’m already planning on going there.
“Thank you, sir!” The man lights up as I accept. I turn to leave, now carrying a backpack, with a tent attached. I checked the contents of the bag before paying for it and it looks like everything I would need is in there. He gave me a flint and steel, 1 iron skillet, 1 pot. A full waterskin, some rope, and a small knife. Alright next stop the adventurers guild to hopefully find a escort job to Dvao Kingdom.
