CHAPTER 2 - The Attack
I wake up with a start and take a deep breath, trying to shake off the grogginess of sleep.
My name is Kael and I'm the firstborn son of a noble family and i am 15 years old. As I look out the window, I see the vast plains stretching out.
I'm on my way to train as an amestos fighter, hoping to help my country regain the honor it lost many years ago.
But something feels off today. The air is heavy and oppressive, and a sense of unease settles over me. As I step outside to begin my morning training routine,
I see a army of mages fighting outside the city walls with a smaller amestos army. Panic sets in as I watch them come closer to the city and start destroying the homes of people.
They were quick with theyre relentless battle with the amestos fighters. The Amestos couldnt hold them back and they had to retreat to the city, and now the mages focused more on destroying it.

I try to assess the situation, looking for a way to help my fellow Amestos fighters and defend my city.
The mages were too powerful, and I knew I had to act fast. I quickly run towards the nearest Amestos headquarters to gather my weapons and join the remaining fighters in their effort to protect the city.
As I reach the headquarters, I see a group of fighters already gathered, discussing their next move. I join them and we quickly come up with a plan to counter the mages' attack.
We decide to split into two groups, with one group trying to hold off the mages while the other group sneaks behind them to desorient them.
I am part of the group that is tasked with holding off the mages. We quickly gear up and head towards the battlefront. As we reach the frontline,
I see the mages unleashing their powers, causing chaos and destruction everywhere. The Amestos fighters were putting up a brave fight, but it was clear that they were outmatched.
I take a deep breath and ready myself for battle. I knew that this was not going to be an easy fight, but I was determined to protect my city and my people.
I charge towards the mages, my sword raised high, ready to strike.
The battle was intense, with both sides creating even more chaos.
I dodge and weave, trying to avoid the mages' powerful attacks. I manage to land a few hits, but it was clear that I was no match for their raw power.
As the battle rages on, I notice that the mages were getting tired. Their spells were not as potent as before, and they were becoming sloppy in their movements.
I take this opportunity to strike, managing to disarm one of the mages and causing the others to focus on me.
All of the mages circled around me to take me out in one hit.
I can't just stand here. My heart races with fear and anticipation as I feel something building up inside of me. In a burst of power,
I unleash a wave of air that throws back the mages. I can see the surprise on their faces, but it doesn't deter them for long.
The battle that followed onwards is fierce and intense. Explosions rock the air and my body is hit by waves of heat and lightning. But I refuse to give up.
I'm fighting for my people, for my home, for everything I hold dear.
With each passing moment, my power grows stronger. I feel my speed and resilience enhanced by something,
leaving the mages stunned and unable to keep up with me. And finally, with one final burst of energy, I unleash a power which i didnt know i had.
Particles of green and blue start to flow around me, i start to feel something flow trough me, something weird, something simmiliar to magic.
But whatever it is that something, it sends the mages flying, killing them instantly.
But victory is bittersweet. As I survey the destruction of my hometown, I realize that I've tapped into a power that's beyond my control.
I'm something else now, something more dangerous and powerful. And I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
As I make my way through the ruins, searching for survivors, I stumble upon the lifeless bodies of my parents under the rubble of our house.
As i cry in despair and shout, The weight of their loss crushes me.
"WHY !?"
"WHY ME ?!"
"WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS ?!" I shout as loud as i possibly can.
After moments of grieving I realize that this battle is far from over.
More mages arrive from the army to wreak havoc on the city and I am too tired to fight.
As I stand there in shock, watching the chaos and destruction unfold before my eyes,
a deep sense of hopelessness washed over me. The once bustling streets of our city were now filled with the sounds of screams and the smell of smoke,
as the mage army continued to wreak havoc with their powerful magic.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt wash over me as I realized that I was powerless to stop this.
All my training as an amestos fighter for the last 3 years seemed useless in the face of such overwhelming magical power. I felt like a failure, not only as a fighter but as a citizen of our city.
As I watched the mage army mercilessly attack our homes and loved ones, I couldn't hold back the tears that streamed down my face.
I felt a deep sense of sorrow for all those who had lost their lives in this battle, and for the countless families who would be left to pick up the pieces in the aftermath.
The weight of their loss crushed me, and I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of despair. How could this happen?
How could we let our city fall so easily to the mages? I knew that we had to keep fighting, but the thought of continuing on in the face of such overwhelming tragedy seemed almost too much to bear.
I am no longer able to fight, i was not strong enough, there is nothing i can do.
I ran as fast as my legs would carry me, trying to put as much distance between myself and the chaos behind me.
I could hear the sounds of battle growing fainter as I made my way out of the city and towards the capital.
My heart was heavy with grief and fear as I thought about the destruction I had witnessed.
The streets were empty and silent, except for the occasional sound of a door slamming shut or a window shattering.
As I ran, I couldn't help but think about all the people I had left behind. The ones who had fought bravely to defend their homes and families,
only to be met with overwhelming force. The ones who had been unable to escape the destruction and were now trapped beneath the rubble.
Tears streamed down my face as I thought about their suffering. It was all so senseless, so unnecessary.
"Why did this have to happen ?"
"Why did innocent people have to die ?" I wondered aloud, my voice trembling with a mixture of sadness and anger
I reached the outskirts of the city and paused to catch my breath.
The sky was dark and foreboding, as if it was reflecting the pain and sorrow I felt inside. I knew that I had to keep moving, to reach the safety of the capital and find a way to help my country.
But as I took my first steps forward, I felt a heavy weight settle in my chest.
It was the weight of all the lives lost, the homes destroyed, and the dreams shattered. It was the weight of a world turned upside down, where nothing made sense anymore.
With a heavy heart, I continued my journey towards the capital, hoping that there was still a glimmer of hope left in this world.
As I embark on my journey, the full weight of what has occurred begins to set in, and it becomes painfully clear that the world is far from peaceful.
Once again, we find ourselves entrenched in a brutal conflict with the Mage Order - the very same conflict that ravaged our lands for half a millennium,
and claimed the lives of countless innocent individuals. It is a sobering and troubling realization, and one that fills me with a deep sense of foreboding as I set out into this uncertain and perilous world.
As night falls, I reach a nearby village and find a place to sleep. My mind races with thoughts of what's to come and how I can prepare myself for the battles ahead.
I know that I can't undo what's been done, but I can do everything in my power to make sure that my people are safe and that this war will not be fought in vain.
I finally find a place to sleep. In the village the horse stable has a comfortable enough ground for me to sleep on.
And i finally try to rest.
As I lay there, I can hear the faint sounds of crickets and the rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. It's a peaceful sound, one that I haven't heard in a while.
I close my eyes and try to focus on the sound, to let it calm my racing thoughts.
But my mind keeps going back to the destruction I witnessed earlier. The images of burning homes and the screams of the innocent echo in my head.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
I feel a knot form in my stomach, and I can't help but think about all the lives that were lost.
As the night wears on, I find it hard to sleep. My mind is plagued with the memories of the battle and the fear of what's to come.
I know that I have to keep moving, to make it to the capital and train to help, but the weight of it all feels like too much to bear.
I take deep breaths and try to steady my racing heart. I know that I can't let my emotions cloud my judgement. I have to stay focused and keep moving forward.
As the first light of dawn begins to filter through the stable windows, I get up and start my journey again. The road ahead is long, but I know that I must keep going.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as I thought about the long road ahead. Each step felt like a test of my endurance, with obstacles and dangers lurking around every turn.
But I knew that I had to press on. My journey was important, and I couldn't let anything stop me from reaching the Capital "City of Light".
As I walked through villages and towns, the scars of the last war were etched into every building and every face I saw. The pain and suffering that these people had endured at the hands of the mages weighed heavily on my heart.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility, knowing that I was on a mission to make things right.
"This war is stupid" i thought to myself.
I believe that the world should live peacefully and try to prosper together.
But even i know that is not possible with the mage order.
After what felt like a week, I finally come across a paved road, the main road leading to the City of Light. It was a welcome relief from the rough terrain I had been trudging through.
The road stretched out before me, leading me ever closer to my destination.
After I walked for a few more hours closer to my destination i reached the "beatiful plains" which got the nickname from being excesively beautiful.
I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the surrounding landscape. The rolling hills and dense forests were a testament to the power and beauty of nature.
I felt a sense of peace wash over me as I breathed in the fresh air and basked in the warm sun.
As the days passed and i walked more, the sight of the towering walls and gleaming buildings of the city grew ever closer. It was a symbol of hope, a beacon which used to be in the midst of the darkness of war.
My heart lifted at the sight, knowing that my long and arduous journey was nearing its end.
And finally, after what felt like an eternity, I caught my first glimpse of the City of Light. The beauty of the city took my breath away, and I felt a sense of awe and wonder wash over me.
Its towering walls and gleaming buildings were a welcome sight after the long and difficult journey. I knew that I had finally arrived at my destination, and that the real journey was just beginning.
As I approached the main city gate, I was greeted by a few soldiers who asked me a few questions about myself.
After answering their inquiries and learning that I am a survivor from the city Keoul they allowed me to enter the city.
As I finally entered the city, my eyes widened with amazement at the bustling activity around me.
I could hear the sound of merchants haggling over prices, children laughing and playing, and the clanging of swords from nearby training grounds.
My focus was fixed on finding the military academy, and so I asked anyone on the way who could help me. After an hour of wandering around,
I found myself standing before the doors of a swords shop, feeling defeated that no one was willing to assist me.
As I stood outside the swords shop, feeling disheartened and defeated, a man walked out and greeted me. He seemed to be taking a break from his work.
I greeted him back and mustered up the courage to ask him about the military academy. To my surprise, he not only knew where it was located but was also good friends with the headmaster general.
"Are you interested in trying out for the academy?" he asked me with a curious expression.
I nodded, feeling nervous but also excited about the possibility of joining the ranks of the military.
"Excellent," he said with a smile. "Follow me, and I'll take you to the headmaster general. It's been a while since I've seen him, and I would love to catch up with him."
I thanked him and followed him
We made our way through the bustling streets of the city, dodging people and merchants as we went.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness building inside me. This was my chance to prove myself, to become an amestos fighter and protect my people.
Finally, we arrived at the gates of the academy, and the man led me through the grand entrance and into the courtyard.

The sound of clanging swords, and shouting students filled the air, and I couldn't help but be impressed by the sight of so many skilled fighters honing their craft.
They were so fast I couldn't even keep track of these students with my own eyes, they have been truly mastering the power of amestos.
We walked towards the main building, passing by groups of students deep in training. As we approached the entrance, the man turned to me and said,
"Remember, the headmaster general is a tough old bird. He doesn't take kindly to those who waste his time. You'll need to prove yourself if you want to be accepted into the academy."
I nodded, determined to show the headmaster general what I was made of. The man led me into the grand hall, where the headmaster general sat at a large desk, surrounded by piles of paperwork and books.
He looked up as we approached, his piercing eyes sizing me up. "What brings you here, young one,?" he asked, his voice gruff and commanding.
"I want to become an amestos fighter," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.
The headmaster general leaned back in his chair and stroked his beard thoughtfully.
"And why should we accept you into our academy? What makes you think you have what it takes to be an amestos fighter?"
I took a deep breath and stood up straight, trying to project confidence.
"I have a deep desire to protect my people from the mages. I may not have any formal training, but I am willing to work hard and prove myself to you and to the academy."
The headmaster general nodded, his eyes still fixed on me. "Very well. We will put you to the test. You will need to pass a series of trials and show us that you have what it takes to be an amestos fighter."
I take a deep breath and nod, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. The thought of proving myself to the academy only fuels my desire to become a skilled fighter.
The admissions officer hands me a list of the tests I'll need to pass, including physical tests, problem solving tests, and practical demonstrations of combat skills.
While i am reading the list i hear chatting behind me. It´s the man who helped me and the headmaster. I've learned that he's name is Laor and he is a swordsmith for the academy.
I thank the admissions officer and make my way to the training grounds, where I see other students undergoing their own tests.
As I watch them, I can't help but feel a sense of both excitement and nervousness. The tests are no doubt going to be challenging, but I'm determined to succeed.
I spend the next 2 hours preparing, practicing my combat skills and studying for the written exams. Two hours is not a lot of time to prepare, but I believe it is a part of the tests.
I also make sure to keep my power i dont know yet a secret, not wanting to draw any unwanted attention to myself and out of the fear of being something unimaginable.
As the time of the tests approaches, I find myself feeling both anxious and excited. I know that these tests will determine whether or not I'm accepted into the academy, and I can't help but feel the weight of that responsibility.
Finally, the evening arrives and I make my way to the testing area, where I see other hopeful students waiting nervously. I take a deep breath and remind myself that I've trained for the past 3 years like this,
It can't be that hard.
The first test was a rigorous physical challenge that pushed me to my limits. I had to run a long distance, climb a high wall, and perform a series of acrobatic maneuvers, all while carrying a heavy backpack.
Sweat poured down my face as I pushed through the pain and exhaustion, determined to prove myself.
The second test was a mental challenge that tested my problem-solving and critical thinking skills. I was presented with a series of complex puzzles and had to solve them within a strict time limit.
The puzzles were designed to be difficult, but I was able to keep my wits about me and solve them all.
The third test was a weapons test, where I had to demonstrate my proficiency with a variety of weapons, including swords, spears, and bows. I had trained extensively with these weapons in the past,
and I was confident in my abilities. Even though my technique is not perfect, which was also seen by the instructors,
I still demonstrated my utmost skill with each weapon.
After what seems like an eternity, the tests are over. I wait nervously for the results, my heart pounding in my chest.
And then, finally, the admissions officer appears before me, a small smile on his face.
"Congratulations," he says.
"You've been accepted into the academy." I feel a sense of relief and joy wash over me, knowing that I've taken the first step towards fulfilling my revenge.
"Here is your key to your dormitory room, it is number 17, you will be sharing it with another student." he says while giving me the key.
"The first lecture starts tomorrow, do not be late." he says.
I make my way to the dormitory, my mind still racing from the intensity of the test. The hallways are filled with students which have a weird number on they're uniform.
I find my room and unlock the door with the key, stepping inside and closing the door behind me. The room is small but cozy, with two cozy beds, desk, and a wardrobe.
I collapse onto the bed, my body exhausted but my mind still racing with thoughts of the academy, my home, and my future.
As I lay there, I can't help but feel a sense of anxiety for what the future holds. I know that the road ahead will be long and difficult,
but I am determined to become an amestos fighter and bring justice.
I sit on my bed to take a deep breath.
But suddenly the door to my room opens.
