The Beginning (1)

Jason Adara sat at his desk. His unique circumstances let him enjoy his days doing whatever he wants. His choice of entertainment is playing virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing games, or VRMMO’s for short. When you think of RPG games you think of killing dragons and meeting gods or whatever. That's not what he does. He crafts things. Sounds boring, but not for him. He loves mining out a chunk of metal and turning it into an amazing sword, or bow, or dagger, and so much more. He loves taking the horn of this monster, a rare herb, some pixie dust, and POOF, a life-saving potion. He loves… you know what I mean. He loves all aspects of crafting. Blacksmithing, alchemy, tailoring, carpentry, whatever. He is also fond of gathering the materials himself. He may be able to buy this metal for X gold, or he could go explore a dark cave searching for that metal and he may find other things as well! That's his thinking at least. He is well-known in the crafting community as the best blacksmith. He may do another crafting, but blacksmithing is his forte. The most well-known virtual reality company, VRTech Studios, has been quiet for a few years, and now the world knows why. A new game called Kingdom of Fantasy has come out. Along with the most advanced gaming pod ever, this game is supposed to be a whole decade ahead of other games. It is supposed to be its own living world. Today is when the game is being shipped to gamers. Nobody knows anything about this game. Nothing. His new gaming pod and Kingdom of Fantasy have just arrived. After installing the pod and booting up the game, Jason stepped into the pod!

Enjoy!

Before he could comprehend the message, he appeared in a large stone room. As he looked around, he noticed a multitude of people dressed up in blue-ish robes. He noticed that he was wearing some basic clothes that you could find anywhere. As he continued looking around, one of the men spoke, “Hello summoned one! You have been summoned from your world to ours. You have been summoned to help fight against the rising demons. You find yourself in the Wandala Kingdom in the small town of Grafburg.” Jason nodded and took a deep breath. He then said, “Okay, what is expected of me? Also, am I only allowed to become a front-line fighter?” The same blue-robed man replied, “As long as you help in some way and respond to dire quests given to you nothing more is expected. My fellow priests will give you some starting gear. Good luck summoned one!” Jason was then handed 5 silver coins, a sack with some food and water, a leather chest plate, and a copper dagger. Jason thanks the man and walks out of the temple with his standard beginner adventurer’s gear. He quickly ran out of the town gate and attempted to find some monsters. After exploring for a bit, Jason uncovered a small number of green-tinted slime creatures. Taking a deep breath and readying his dagger, he lunged forward toward the monsters. His dagger slid into the monster like butter, but it did not kill it. Panicking because his dagger was stuck in the slime, Jason kicked the creature into a nearby tree. Before he could celebrate this small victory, he felt an impact on his leg. He looked down and noticed another slime ramming into him. Also during this time, Jason noticed some colored bars near the bottom of his vision. The blue one, mana he assumed, was full, while the red one, health he assumed, was slowly falling. He almost laughed at the small amount of damage that was awarded to the slime even though it seemed it was trying so hard. After quickly dispatching this slime and a few others, he was rewarded with multiple things.

He also gained some items. He got 12 copper coins, 6 green slime blobs, and 1 solidified slime. After going back into the town and finding the adventurer’s guild, Jason went up to the front desk and said, “Hey there! Looking to sign up and also sell some monster drops.” The receptionist looked up from some papers on her desk and responded, “Sure. Just fill this paper in to sign up, and the selling area is down the hallway to your left.” Jason picked up the pencil form next to the paper and proceeded to fill the paper in. After getting his copper adventure badge and rank, he walked off toward the selling area. After selling his goods for a total of 23 copper coins, he wandered around the town for the rest of the day. After a nice day's rest and more exploring, he eventually went around the town looking for a blacksmith shop. With a couple of hours left of daylight, he found a shop called Brock’s Rocks. The second he stepped into the shop, the temperature rose a considerable amount. He noticed some weapons across a display wall and a grumpy-looking, stereotypical dwarf-looking man. He approached the man warily and asked, “You Brock? I’m looking to become a blacksmith.” The man snorted,

“I’m Brock alright, you think your scrawny ass can become a blacksmith? The best you could do would be to massage my shoulders.” Jason shrugged and replied,

“I’ll make sure to improve my strength, but I have always wanted to make weapons! Please, I really want to try to learn!” Brock snorted again,

“Fine, first watch me work and work the bellows for tonight, and if you still want to learn tomorrow, come at 5!” Jason plopped down next to the bellows and began pumping. It took a lot of his strength for a single pump. All Jason could think of was ‘It's going to be a long night’. After almost 3 hours straight of pumping the bellows, it seemed as if Brock was done. As Jason stood up and cracked his back, he felt a large hand smack him on the shoulder.

“Good job kid, I’m surprised you lasted this long, you get any strength?” Jason had in fact gotten 3 points of strength, bringing the total up to 23. He had also gotten 2 points of endurance. Jason panted and nodded slightly. Brock shooed him out and yelled

“Remember! 5.” After finding a room at an inn and some food for 5 copper, he logged out to the real world. After waking up and getting ready it was about 4:30, with a little bit of time before he had to get to the blacksmith, he decided to explore the town a little more. He found a couple of interesting shops he knew he would visit in the future such as Phocion’s Potions, Hyde’s Hides, Roth’s Cloths, Goode’s Woods, and Bob’s Enchantments. They seemed to have a common naming theme, except for one of them, but he couldn’t quite figure out what it was. After exploring, Jason quickly went over to the blacksmith’s shop and went inside. He immediately saw Brock lounging on a chair. He nodded to him and Brock began to speak.

“Surprised you came back, and on time!”. Jason just smirked and asked,

“So, what’s the plan?” Brock stood up and motioned to Jason to follow him. After bringing Jason to the back room he said,

“Watch and Learn”. Jason did as such and after a while, he received a notification

Blacksmithing

Common - Level 1

The ability to craft items with metal, the higher the level, the more you can craft and which metals may be used

Jason had to hold back his surprise at how easy it was. He began to say,

“I got the skill!”. Brock looked surprised and said,

“That was quick! Either way, if you go get a wheelbarrow full of iron, you can use my forge for the rest of the day”. Jason quickly nodded before running out the door… before peeking back in and asking where the mines were. After receiving the directions and buying a pickaxe for 14 copper, he began his way towards the mines.

After a quick jog, he arrived at the mines. After finding an empty spot, he started digging. After about an hour, Jason received a notification

Mining

Common - Level 1

Increases mining speed, increases drop rate, and increases chance for rare drops

After another 2 hours of mining with only 2 levels in mining and a quarter wheelbarrow filled, Jason decided to try something different. He began trying to sense any type of energy within the mine. After a while and a few failed ideas, something clicked

Sense Metal

Uncommon - Level 1

The ability to sense metals within a range dependant on level, different metals will feel different

He began mining using his newfound skill. After some more mining and a level up in Mining and Metal Sense as well as a full wheelbarrow of iron, and a silvery chunk of an ore that was not iron, he went back to the blacksmith.

Mining

Common - Level 4

Increases mining speed, increases drop rate, and increases chance for rare drops

Sense Metal

Uncommon - Level 2

The ability to sense metals within a range dependant on level, different metals will feel different

After the strenuous journey back, gaining a point in strength and endurance, he began dumping the iron into a pile in the back. Brock, seemingly hearing the commotion, came into the room and said,

“Well done! I see you also found a chunk of silver as well! As I promised, you can use my forge for the entire day.” Jason furiously nodded and began smelting his ore into a whopping 40 ingots, plus he had extra ore left.

Iron Ingot X20 - Poor

An ingot of Iron (70% Purity)

Iron Ingot X20 - Common

An ingot of Iron (75% Purity)

This got him 2 level-ups in Blacksmithing. For the next couple of hours, he turned the 20 lower-purity ingots into daggers, shortswords, and various simple tools. This got him 3 levels in blacksmithing, 2 points in strength, and endurance, plus a point in Agility, as well as a level up.

Iron Dagger - Poor

An Iron dagger made by an amateur smith, may break sooner than expected

Blacksmithing

Common - Level 6

The ability to craft items with metal, the higher the level, the more you can craft and which metals may be used

At this time, Jason began to get very hungry. After going for some food and arriving back at the shop, he noticed Brock looking over at his items. Brock noticed Jason arriving and said

“Hey! These items aren’t great but if your next batch is better I’ll buy them from you for 5 copper for the daggers, 7 copper for the swords, 7 copper for the tools, and 10 copper for the helmets. What about it?” As Brock finished speaking, Jason got a notification

Quest! - Brock’s Request

Time Limit - 6 Hours

Make 10 common or better iron daggers, shortswords, pickaxes, and helmets

Reward - 3 Silver, Increased Reputation With The Crafting Guild, and experience

Yes/No

Jason quickly accepted and began his work. After using the 20 ingots he had left, melting the leftover ore into ingots, and using them too, he had finished! With a whole hour left, he finished satisfied. He has received his reward in both money and levels. He had a large number of notifications pop up.
