Fortune and Fate - Chapter 8

Fortune and Fate - Chapter 8

In a room pretty much like an office, two men sit on red leather chairs, and in front of them sits a man with gray hair and an expensive black suit.

The maid poured tea for everybody as Governor Alcatra, the man in the suit, started talking.

"I heard some things from my guard."

"Please do tell me more."

The white-clothed man and the man with the knives look at each other, seemingly coming to an agreement on who is going to talk, and the white-clothed man starts to speak after two to three seconds.

"I am Ander, and this is my friend Nelson."

"We found the corpses of our friends just outside the city, three minutes' walk at the very most."

"It is clear that they were killed by a soul user; this soul user should be an adept-level soul user."

"As only he or she can kill four soul users at the same time without giving our friends any chance to defend themselves,"

Alcatra listens and takes a sip from his tea as he speaks.

"I understand your pain and loss."

"I know that there are a number of soul users living in Bluebird Town, but I don't know anyone who is at the level of an adept."

"For an adept-level soul user, our town would be too small and not interesting."

Ander listens to Alcatra.

"He is not lying at all."

"If he is hiding something, he must be a proficient liar."

He is calm and collected. speaks clearly and firmly.

Unless he is being controlled by a soul user,

There is no way that he can lie without giving any sign.

As Anders keeps his silence, Nelson starts to speak.

"We would like to see the list of soul users living in Bluebird Town."

"As soul users, they may have some contact with our enemy."

Alcatra thinks for a little before answering.

"Yeah, that can be arranged."

Alcatra then looks at the maid and nods to her. The maid understands the signal and leaves the room.

Alcatra closes his eyes for one second and thinks.

From the moment these two entered his room, they demonstrated that they were not ordinary thugs wielding soul power.

They are most likely adept-level soul users.

Adept-level soul users have some authority and power. especially in a small town like Bluebird Town.

It is not a bad idea to provide a list of known soul users in the town.

It would at least take some steam off of them.

-

Jack keeps practicing in the feeling and imagination stages of soul user training until mid-night.

After a long period of practice, he begins to yawn:

"I should rest; tiring myself is not going to change anything right now."

The practice has an impact on the individual's body and mind.

Jack knows that he is not tiring himself physically.

However, this does not mean that he is not tired of mental work.

-

The next morning, he wakes up, quickly orders breakfast, and takes a quick shower in the room with a bucket full of water.

His food arrives quickly, and then, after finishing the simple breakfast of cheese, eggs, and meat, he starts training again.

"This time, I'm only concerned with the stage of imagination."

"It is best for me to train one subject per day to not confuse anything."

He already feels that he is filled with soul energy all the time.

"Right now, I need to work on the imagination stage and manifest my soul energy and keep it around my body."

He pondered in his mind.

The "imagination stage" is a more important stage than the "feeling state."

It is known among the circles of soul users that the feeling stage can be worked on passively.

Not much talent and practice are needed for it to improve.

But when it comes to the imagination stage, all things change.

The "stage of imagination" is the boundary between geniuses, gifted people, and ordinary soul users.

The more gifted the individual, the faster the stage will be passed.

The manifestation of soul energy will be more robust and powerful.

He feels his soul energy and concentrates on it to make it slowly detach from his body.

The time passes slowly as he works on his imagination.

He imagines the energy surrounding him as if it were invisible clothing protruding from every part of his body.

"I will decide my own fate!"
