Jason grew up on earth, the 2nd son of John and Lyn Gideon, in the mid western United States. His father, John, had a mysterious job that always kept him away from the family, but even when he was home most of his time was spent with his older son, Alex. His mother spent most of her days at home, but tended to Alex’s every need, giving him whatever he needed to succeed in life while ignoring Jason. This behavior from his family grew from Jason’s love of activities that those in his family did not relate to and mindlessly didn’t attempt to as their eldest son grew to be a popular athlete. This all lead to Jason being wrapped up in his own world and his own hobbies with dreams of being a hero, but never taking the steps to become save for in the off chance that he was pushed too far by those around him. And then, when he did, it was always soon followed by a scolding.
Jason had never lost a fight nor had he ever fought in any circumstance other than to save someone else. It was always ignored that this was the case, even among his friends, whom were many in his grade school days, but by the time he was in high school there was no one that he could really consider a friend. The fact that his brother was popular in school made him self-aware that many people were looking, not to be his friend, but to be used to get close to his brother. It made him doubt anyone that approached him. He became even more socially isolated as the years went by.

The closest person to him was a girl that he simply knew from being in many of the same classes as him. Her name was Gael Varon. She was stunningly attractive while keeping an air danger about her despite it being an illusion. He found out that she liked to dress that way and there was nothing more to it. She liked him because he didn’t seem like other guys who thought that she was easy and a drug addict and all they wanted from her was to sleep with her, while all she wanted to do was sleep, read, and write. If nothing else, Jason made her feel comfortable enough not continuously gawk at her and brush her off once he discovered she wasn’t what her clothes suggested.
Academically, Jason’s teachers recognized that he was bright enough to do better than he did in his classes. Every time he had a new teacher they would try to push him to perform better, but none ever inspired him to do more than what was needed to pass. Those who had him multiple times gave up on him long ago. Even in the subjects that interested him, the level of the class was too far beneath what his interest level was. He could talk with the teacher on even footing above the heads of the other students. Sometimes, in his first year, he would inspire long tangential discussions and arguments, but at some point, every teacher would begin ignoring or scolding him. They couldn’t take so much time with him and ignore the other students. He was only one student afterall.
Jason spent most of his time when he wasn’t at school playing games, watching youtube videos, and chatting in various forums and discord servers. His main interests were RPGs and various Sci-Fi titles. Among his favorite titles are Xenosaga and Mass Effect. Primaily, he spent much of his time listening to alien conspiracy videos and argued with those who believed in ancient aliens and UFOlogists. By the time he was abducted he had firmly concluded in his own mind that there had never been any conspiracies, visitations, or anything of the like. Simultaneously, the usage of religious texts by these groups lead him into the existence of spiritual beings, the supernatural, and deities and he had concluded that it was mostly, if not all made up. He wasn’t very spiritual to begin with, but he didn’t lean any particular way with any spiritual beliefs, but after dealing with so many people who made really bad arguments he became solidly an atheist.
He was highly disappointed coming to this conclusion as he avidly dreamed of one day going out among the stars, meeting alien civilizations, and perhaps even saving the universe from some cataclysm event that only he and his friends could stop. But he had no friends, he had no skill with which to fight, and there was no aliens nor darkness looming at the edges of known time and space waiting to destroy all of civilization. And then there was and it scared him. He wasn’t brave and he wasn’t prepared. All he could do was hope to not die and try to hold on as long as possible.
