Traversing through any planet in the Wild Lands was always a strange experience. Matt informed them that the planet they were currently on was called Mattland, or at least it is what he called it and would later make official as emperor. Matt's house was a ways off from where they encountered the giant monster and was situated in the middle of a mushroom forest. Giant mushrooms of all different colours and sizes spread around them. Some of the mushrooms seemed pretty regular, small and brown while others seemed to reach up into the clouds through their bright purple stems. Naturally non of these natural mushrroms were edible in any way shape or form, in fact as most things around here they were rather lethal.
Matt stopped in front a giant blue mushroom and pointed up at a winding staircase that led to the very top of the mushroom. Throughout the area Jack could see a number of wild animals that looked like an unfortunate mix of a rabbit, deer, and badger and decided not to dwell on the likelihood of such a merger. The walk up the staircase was strenous as the steps were rather far apart and the drop perilous. Jack and Ted struggled up the steps as Matt simply hopped from one to another with unending energy.
“Welcome to my palace!” proclaimed Matt pointing at a door in the side of the mushroom's cap, “It is not as grand as I would want it but it will do for now.”
“I thought you would have a giant castle after all your talk about being so great,” said Ted.
“Well, as I said, I will get there,” answered Matt, “now that you are here I can properly start planning my conquest of this planet and then the rest of the Wild Lands.
“Don’t know if you have noticed, but six people are hardly an army.”
“Do not fret, with me here what could possibly go wrong,” said Matt lifting his staff to show what he meant, “the biggest threat on this planet isn’t any army anyway, we should just create a safe space for now. Therefore my first order as your leader is for us to go talk to the local farmers to unite.”
“Sorry, but who made you the leader?” said Ted.
“I agree, obviously the greatest warrior should be the leader,” said Yillan.
“Wouldn’t that make me the leader then,” Lyra said.
“Isn’t Matt going to become an Emperor, so it makes sense that he should lead us.” said Jack, “apart from that, do you have a better plan.”
“No, not really,” said Ted and Yillan in unison.
“Well said my subject, you must be that fellow that becomes the Supreme Chancellor in the future so I should take your words to heart.”
“How do you know that?”
“Travellers speak, I am also a genius,” answered Matt and started chuckling to himself, “I suggest we rest here for the night and then go out to the farms and gather an army worthy of my greatness."
“Sounds like a plan,” said Lyra and sat down right where she stood and placed down a sphere which immediately transformed into a bed with a circular barrier surrounding it."
“Oh, cool can I have one of those as well?” asked Jack.
“I only brought one, but we can share, Ted you must have brought one.”
“No, I thought we would be returning to the ship before nightfall.”
“Next time you should prepare more. Glen, you got one?”
“Of course, I am equipped for any difficulty that I could predict,” Glen opened his stomach again and revealed another one of the bed spheres.
“Good to see that you can take care of yourselves,” said Matt, “my house doesn’t really have enough space for this many people. I will ready the fire and I will tell you about our greatest problem.”
“You do that,” said Ted, “c’ mon Yillan let’s find a place to curl up.”
“Let's go Yak the floor is ours tonight," he turned to Ted, "I brought some Leaf Juice with me just in case.”
“You are a genius, my little mouse friend!”
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“I am not a mouse! But thank you.”
After everyone had found their sleeping positions within the mushroom they gathered with Matt around the fire.
“What would this problem you mentioned be?” asked Lyra.
“Good question, have you ever heard of the Space Legion?”
“No, the Empire has not run into them yet.”
"I have,” said Ted, “they were a group of mercenaries that were united into an organized power by some man who appeared out of nowhere.”
“Good, somebody here knows his stuff, they operate in the Wild Lands so it makes sense you haven’t heard of them, so don’t feel too bad about this,” said Matt, “this Space Legion is going from planet to planet and subjugating it, I have heard reports of them being in some planets close to Mattland and have therefore decided to start my plan earlier than expected.”
“So this Space Legion is soon coming here and you want to be ready to fight them?” asked Jack.
“Indeed, glad to see some of us have something in our heads.”
“You want to have defences ready for the planet and unite everyone against this evil group.”
“Whoever said anything about evil, I just said that they are subjugating planets no different to what the Empire does. It is just that I will become the leader around here and they are in my way. Apart from that they are quite militaristic and have no idea of how to create a show, I can’t live under people like that.”
“Can’t we just ask the Empire to send an army over here, this business would be done quite easily,” said Ted.
“Why do we even need an army when you have me to fight them off!”
“The Empire can’t send an army as it is currently at war and can’t send any more reinforcements especially not into the Wild Lands. That is why we were sent here after all,” answered Lyra, “I know that if everything goes wrong we can always rely on you to win the day for us,” said Lyra with a smile.
“You see, even the Vampire acknowledges my strenght!”
“Who are you calling a Vampirer!”
"Let's relax a little guys, we are about to join a war, shouldn't we be more worried about how to plan this stuff” said Jack in desperation.
Oh, don’t you worry Jack, you were just stranded in a strange place in the future a couple weeks ago and in that time you infiltrated Galuran, stopped a war and were chosen for a group to help the future Emperor, what makes you think that we can’t solve this little issue?”
“You know I don’t want to fight! And I don’t think that we can just talk it out with a conquering force!” screamed Jack.
"Never underestimate talking, the most important thing is naturally first impressions! Which is why we will have a force ready by the time they come to meet us. The Space Legion won’t send many men to meet us anyway, this is a small divided planet. We also have weapons from the Empire on your ship and a proper space-ship, something that they will never expect. All the other ships on this planet are made for farming and transporting goods around the surface.”
“That is a tactical advantage if they don’t bring too many ships, the Black Wing doesn’t have too much firepower though, it is not a battleship,” said Ted
“The Black Wing, what a fantastic name, excellent naming sense,” answer Matt. Lyra gave a quick nod towards Ted who was visibly annoyed, “If there is a battle we will fight it on the ground regardless, we are small in number but there are more magicians. If you have any allies though it could be good to get them over here.”
"I think I have an idea regarding allies,” said Jack.
“Who did you think of? You haven’t really been here for very long,” answered Lyra.
“I just thought I could ask Bortux and Borta, they seemed pretty keen for a fight.”
“You were going to ask a bunch of Bakans to fly to the Wild Lands to fight?”
“Yes, it is not like we would lose anything by asking, I am a Bakan friend as well that should count as something.”
“How fantastic, give em a call, wow them and get them to come here,” said Matt, “A Bakan squad can be quite powerful.”
“Glen can you send that message for me then?” asked Jack.
“I am on it, I shall send greetings of friendship as you humans do and ask the Bakans to come to Wild Land planet W23L51 designation Mattland.”
“I will go to sleep now, I will see you tomorrow, Goodnight,” said Matt who went into his hut.
“Okay, now that the kid is gone you can bring out the leaf juice Yillan.”
“Here you go!” Ted took a big swig out of the bottle.
“Jack try some, you will love it!” said Ted, Jack took a sip from the bottle.
“Oh wow, this is quite strong! Quite a strange taste, not bad, just strange.”
“Now to the vampire, have a drink!”
“Don’t call me a vampire and I do not feel like drinking!”
“Oh c’ mon just try it. Even Jack doesn’t dislike it.”
“Fine! I will try it if that will make you stop,” said Lyra and took a big swig from the bottle. A moment passed and the next Lyra spat out all the Leaf Juice and started coughing violently, “arghh, ughh.”
“I knew that Varyxian’s can’t drink alcohol, you can’t fool anyone.”
The bottle was soon finished, Ted and Yillan’s side being the main responsibilities for it. Everyone went to sleep in their bed orbs soon after.
