The Black Wing was on its way home to Empire territory, and the crew was happily munching away at the leftover scout cookies and everything seemed alright. That is until a blue light started flickering on a screen in the main hall. Flashing lights were usually not conducive to a relaxing atmosphere and neither were they now.
“I think we are being called,” Ted said, “Must be important if they can pass through our encryptions.”
Ted pressed a glowing blue button and a large image appeared in front of them revealing the supreme chancellor Jack.
“Hello there,” the older Jack waved at them, “You have been entrusted with an additional mission before returning home to Earth.”
“What do you need us to do, Jack?” Jack said
“Good question, Jack, “said Jack, “You will travel to the wild lands of the universe and retrieve and take care of a boy called Matt.”
“Wait are both of you are Jack?” said Yillan.
“Yes, we will explain later,” said Ted, “More importantly, the wild lands? That’s not quite a fly by, can’t we do something a little closer to home?”
“As I said you will find Matt there and the Imperatus Maximus expects you to take care of him for now.”
“Who is this Matt?” said Jack
“Lyra, let us see if you paid attention in future history class, what does the name Matt Starfire tell you?”
"Do you mean to say we have to take care of Emperor Matt?”
“That is right, he might not look any different than a twelve-year-old boy at the moment, that is because he is twelve. However, he is still Emperor Matt. I advise a modicum of caution when working with him.”
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Understood Supreme Chancellor,” Lyra said and placed her palms against her cheeks in greeting. The screen disappeared revealing the vastness of space before them again.
“So, we have to babysit an Emperor?” said Ted, “and out of all the Emperors it had to be Matt.”
“What’s wrong with Matt?” said Jack.
"I always forget how little you know about well, everything. Emperor Matt or the entertainer, the magnificent or his favourite title, the absolutely fantastic is the second Emperor of the Empire.”
"Well, that doesn’t sound too bad, rather entertaining really.”
“He is the most troublesome emperor they could have sent us to,” said Lyra.
“Do not worry, if the Emperor becomes too annoying I Yillan have no problem with hitting them on the head.”
“As much as I would agree with you on hitting annoying people on the head, we should probably not do that to Matt, he should be quite powerful even at this age.” Said Lyra
“Fine, we shall only lightly tap him on the head…”
The Black Wing flew through space for a week before coming close to its destination. The wild space was not particularly strange or dangerous. That is if we ignore the flying whales, the death cubes, the death spheres, the death triangles, and the normal lemonade stands. Funny how every corner of the universe managed to get its hands on lemons.
“Prepare for landing,” Ted said through the intercom.
The ship descended onto a plain of purple grass. The group left the ship and took a look around, the air was breathable and the purple grass was surprisingly soft.
“So, any idea where Matt is?” asked Jack.
“No, not really, I just hope I got the planet right…,” said Ted
“If you didn’t, we can’t complain about Tim anymore…”
“We can always complain about that yellow devil.”
“Well, but it would be rude after you mess up the same way.”
“You and your constant desire to be polite are getting on my nerves, just relax a little, we can take a walk around and see if we find anything.”
A small relaxing walk later
“This is not relaxing!!” screamed Lyra.
“Now is not the time for this!” Ted screamed back.
“Guys, I would focus on running!” said Jack
“You guys are so slow, you should get yourself a Yak, it would be much easier to escape,” said Yillan who was riding ahead of them on Yak.
An avid adventurer might at this point be wondering what Jack and his companions were running from. The answer to this was quite simple. A big hairy monster with teeth the size of swords. To make matters worse they did not have a clue where Matt was. They ran towards the ship which they had of course parked on the other side of a rather steep hill.
“Halt! Witness my power!” a voice echoed through the land, it came from the top of one of the hills, “I am he who is the supreme Witch, witness the great power which I possess!”
