Synopsis
I've gone through several rewrites of the blurb because I have noticed a lot of drop offs in the first chapter or two. I want to give everyone the right expectations without giving anything away. This is going to be a cultivation story, but it isn't going to happen instantly.
My favorite thing to do in the world is ask the question why. And a lot of times the answer you get depends on what you know when you ask the question, which then in turn colors how you continue to learn. So my premise for this story is what happens when the isekai goes wrong. The whole first arc is just about that, and then a lot of that isn't going to be seen again until much later on. Like several books worth later on.
What happens when because you break free of the isekai, you are dropped into the middle of the wilderness instead of the nice cushy starting area? Are you going to be focused on learning magic or just trying to not starve to death and die of thirst? What other lessons might you learn? What could happen to you that could change the course of your existence if you weren't poisoned by expert opinion?
I am likening this to looking at an artist paint a picture one layer at a time, its fascinating to watch how everything eventually comes together. When you see some of the parts that he painted at the very beginning slowly become incorporated and when he is done you have no idea how he got there. I am aware that this is insanely ambitious for a new author and I think one of my biggest stumbling blocks was not letting people know in the beginning what to expect. Instead of straight out telling them, I started off with a generic blurb.
This is the story is about being broken and rebuilt.
This story is going to examine the very building blocks that make up the universe, and then leave them behind to explore the magic that mortals were meant to touch until the MC finally grows strong enough to make it back to the power that first broke him.
This story is going to rummage around through the depths of everything that makes you question why if there is a god he hasn't wiped humanity away, while also will bring you to tears as the brightest parts of what makes us worth living is allowed to shine through all of that very same garbage.
This will eventually be an epic tale, but if you are looking for something to happen instantly this isn't the story for you. There are no blue boxes making numbers grow up, a lot of the first book is just the mc alone... trying to survive.
All of the best books that I have ever read have had incredibly boring parts that I have skimmed through to get to the action, only to find myself going back as the author pulls the rug out from under me and I question how he managed to do it, only to have to go back to the boring part to find the set up that he hid from me. That is what lore and cannon are for. They aren't the pretty glit and glamour... all though there will definitely be plenty of fight scenes and eventual face slapping.
Lore is the building blocks of what makes the universe the author has built work. And the better the lore is the less plot holes there will be, the less McGuffins you will find, and the less Plot armor the MC needs to survive to slap another face!
What to expect:
Slice of Life
Weak to Strong MC
Survival
Wuxia from a Western Viewpoint
No Harem
Daily chapters 3-5k until the end of the year
A lot of my trigger warnings are for events that will happen way off in the future, but I don't want to get someone invested in the book and then for it to seem to come out of left field when it happens. But you can't plumb the depths of humanities depravity without getting a little uncomfortable.
I would ask you to forgive my earliest chapters, some of them are a little rough, all I can say is I have learned a lot in the last month of writing and I think it shows in my latest work and I am sure I will only continue to get better!
