Lunette quickly healed Cain and not even a mark of the injury remained. But Cain did not wake up . They assumed it was due to the injury but what they didn't know was that Cain had used up all the power he had.
Cain had used Magic.
The beast was now no more.
The guild's representatives came a few hours later. The two were taken aback by the scene. The beast had not only arrived far sooner than predicted. The damage was substantially less than it should have been. The beast's rampage had left them expecting the settlement to be utterly destroyed, yet all they saw was a demolished home and a wall. It had all worked out nicely.
"Even after a monster attack, the village appears to be doing great," a guild representative stated. He was dressed in the formal attire for on-duty guild staff, which consisted of black pants, a white shirt, and a charcoal colored vest. In his late twenties, he was a pallid young guy. He appeared sluggish, with sad, unmotivated eyes.
"Yes. I wanted to fight a monster and came along but the fight is already over. Sigh... Why am I here? just to suffer?" a bulky man facepalmed and said to the guild staff.
"I told you there was no need to come. I would have gathered a part..". The guild staff wanted to say something but was cut off.
"Well, I will be on my way back. You finish yours and return. See you later"
"Sigh.. See you later guild master."
The investigation began. A shocking discovery was made after further investigation. The beast was not just any ordinary beast; it was a mutated beast, a true monster. It was classified as a C+ rank monster because it possessed enormous power and rage beyond that of normal monsters.
The guild classified beast and monsters into ranks on basis of their strength.
F rank: No significant strength.
E rank: Strength to kill single person.
D rank: Strength to kill a family(group of five)
C rank: Strength to destroy a village.
B rank: Strength to destroy multiple villages.
A rank: Strength to destroy a kingdom.
S rank: Strength to destroy entire continent
SS rank: Strength to destroy the entire world.
Stolen story; please report.
Their strength, however, does not accurately reflect their true threats. As a result, more changes to the ranking system were made. A '+' was given to aggressive or intelligent creatures that posed a greater threat than other monsters of the same rank, whilst a '-' was given to rather peaceful beasts.
According to this, a B+ monster would posses a threat to an entire kingdom while possessing strength enough only to destroy multiple villages.
While a B- - monster would have B rank strength but posses threat of a D rank monster.
An example of B+ rank would be a goblin king. Though it doesn't have the strongest physique but with it's high intelligence, it can mobilize goblin troops to perform strategic attacks. Such attacks will continue on until the goblin king is defeated.
While, a rock-shelled turtle would be classified a B- - rank. It's physique is impressive having rock hard shell that can take attacks head on and remain unscathed. It would be near impossible to stop it on it's tracks is it truly decided to go rampage. But due to their non-hostile nature, they don't pose much threat, to the humans already.
"How much will this yield?" Myles inquires.
Hunters could earn hefty sun from selling the monster parts. The money could be used to rebuild hut and renovate the inn as well as build better fences around the village.
"The fur is in ashes. The skin is burnt and has multiple cuts. One eye has burnt and the other eye is pierced. The tusks are in fairly good condition. Overall..."
"Huh, both eyes? " Myles said.
"Check yourself if you don't believe" The guild representative said.
"Oh no no. I am not doubting your skills"
The monster's remains were appraised by the representative. The tough skin, meat, bones, tusks, and everything else on the boar could be sold. They were on their way after negotiating the price and deducting the compensation for quest takedown.
"Take this, your share." Said Myles handing a pouch of coins to the swordsmen.
"Wha? We can't possibly accept that. Defeating the beast would not be possible without you"
"And you even saved our life. It's because of you we lived to see another day. We are forever in your debt " The swordsman said.
His eyes showed hint of tear and his faint smile showed his gratitude.
"And it seems you need it more than us" he said looking at the demolished hut and the inn.
"But.." Myles expression showed sadness as he didn't like to be in anyone's debt.
The swordsman eyes then lit up, "Instead could we stay at your inn for a few days? You see, we lost our supplies trying to escape the monster and now we don't have much on our hands."
The gloomy expression on Myles changed to a bright smile," Haha, no need to worry. We have got you covered'.
"Oh, I am curious. Who are you really? And what are high rank adventurers like you doing here?" The swordman asked politely.
"We? Haha haha . We are your average everyday villagers. " Myles said in laughter.
The adventurers didn't take such a blatant lie
but didn't pry any further.
Cain was now awake. He was feeling empty. He felt like an empty shell.
'Why do I feel so tired? I feel as if all my life force was forcefully extracted.
I don't feel so good.'
What Cain didn't know was that he has forcibly emptied all the mana from his body.
The sun had gone down and night took over.
In the darkness of the night, two figures leapt out of the shadows.
"Should we dispose them?" One man in black asked.
"That won't be necessary" the other replied.
"Did you do the preparations then?"
"Yes, it's all ready."
"Let's make our moves then.
Are you excited for your new toys?"
"Yes. They will make a fine addition to my collection."
The two figures laughed hysterically as they disappeared back into the shadows.
Meanwhile in heaven,
"Those bastarts even rejected my vacation. Just when I though I could relax, they had to ruin all my plans" A god in white complained.
...
...
"I am bored. What's should I do?"
"Oh I know. I should that child. That could be interesting."
A screen popped up from the clouds.
The god was holding popcorn in his hands seated on a cloudy couch.
The screen showed Cain as we watched the battle in front of him unfold.
"Huh, what is that approaching the child?"
The god was startled.
"Wait, the child will die if nothing is done"
"If that child dies again, they will shove me all the responsibilities. Can't let that happen. Absolutely can't let that happen."
The god had to stop the boar at any costs.
The god decided to forcibly expel Cain's own mana casting a wind spell.
"Whew, Why is the child hell bent on giving me troubles?"
