Body and Mind

Body and Mind

A year flew by in just 365 days. The summer was hot and the winter was cold. Spring was pleasant and so was autumn. Big surprise there :|

'At the age of six months, I began speaking and walking.' I could comprehend what they were saying, but I couldn't hold a conversation. Isn't that just a bit quick? 'Well, no one seemed suspicious, so it probably wasn't.'

It was roughly 7 o'clock in the morning. The sun had just begun to rise. The landscape was illuminated by golden fingers of sunshine. The sun had just risen and was gleaming softly across the village and through Cain's window.

Cain was still asleep.

His mom walked upto his room and silently enters inside.

"Wakey wakey sweetie" She said.

"Hmmm, Ok mama" I said in a cute voice. I hope I am keeping up my flawless baby act.

'I will wake up in 5 minutes',I said to myself.

It was 10 in the morning.

'Damn, I wanted to sleep for 5 minutes but ended up sleeping for 3 hours.' I cursed my laziness.

'Well, whatever. Lets just go down and eat something. I am starving' I walked down the stairs where I see mom waiting.

Someone had to look after the inn and currently my dad was on it while my mom was home.

"Looks like your majesty finally woke up. Did the sun just risen for your majesty?" my mom joked.

"Mom, Stop making fun of me", I pouted.

Mom chuckles as she rushed towards me and hugged tightly.

"Mo-om, it hurts" I cried trying to escape from her grasps with my childish struggle.

"Mmm, so cute. Let me hug you longer"

"Mom, I am hungry" I said while grasping for breath.

Mom let me free from her clutches.

"Sit down! I will prepare right away." mom started preparing veggie soup for me.

After feeding me she locked me in the house while she went to the inn.

'Great parenting right? I mean, isn't it the best of choices to keep your one year old old child locked up in the house while parents are away.

What could possibly go wrong?'I sighed.

'Are my parents just stupid or is the entire world did for don't the same?'

"I am a baby how can they leave me locked up alone. What if I fall off the bed and hit my head or jump off the window?" I murmured.

Of course, I have no intentions of dying anytime soon. I atleast have that bit of common sense but the real babies, don't they do troublesome stuff all the time?

"They should have taken me with them.", I pouted.

I would have loved to see the world outside. In my previous life also, I had not gotten much opportunities to travel. I would always be busy with my study and work. So in this life I wanted to travel even more so because this is a fantasy world.

Though I say that, I am not upset. My parents are quite busy work their work and so they only come to check on me once every hour or so. That meant I would have free time of my own.

Of course, I would not going to the wilderness in the mean time to explore. I love exploring but I love my life more. Living is fun, dying is not. More over this is my second chance. I am not going to waste it for just a momentary pleasure.

Cain ceased his nonchalant thoughts and started planning for the time he had now.

He was not gonna go exploring now didn't mean he was never going to do it. After facing a real monster he had become self aware about his weak self. Though he was still a newborn but it was not like he would automatically become invincible when he grows up. The world doesn't work that way and he understands that.

To make sure he survives any ordeal he may experience further down the road Cain has been training his body and mind everyday. Running and jumping around the house every day has been a part of his daily routine to train his body after which he meditates to train his mind.

They were baby steps that would probably not bring any immediate results but that wasn't his Cain's goal. His true goal with this was to set up a habit of training. This would bring phenomenal change overtime.

"Huff! Huff.."

"Gulp.."

Cain had been running around for next an hour now. He was exhausted, gasping for breath.

"Huff Huff hooo, hoooo"

Taking long breaths he managed to use calm his breathing. No matter what adversary one had to think with his calm mind.

Cain stepped back, sat down, closed his eyes and began to meditate.

Countless memories from his past life flashed infront. From the deepest, darkest of his past like the time when he had almost jumped off a bridge and ended his life to the little ones like that one time when he had bought ice cream to a crying child and the child thanked him or that time when he was late for the first day of his school.

The memories were perfectly preserved and he could still feel the gentle breeze brushing his skin as if he was back to the moment. But all that was just an illusion. Illusion of something that now did not even exist. Memories of the person that is now long gone.

Then came his death. His short time meeting god and the endless void afterwards.

His rebirth and the times after. Reliving all of his life till now, he would get indescribable feeling of calmness or rather emptiness.

But among all those memories, the one that he tried the most to remember was the time when he almost died due to the boat. He recreated the same sensation again and again. Rather than allowing it to stay as a childhood trauma, he faced it time and again on his own accord.

He was using the fear to train his mind.

Cain used it to remind himself time and again about how scary the world really is and to train himself to remain calm and attentive at all time no matter what lied ahead. The monster was strong but one could be sure that there are thousands of others stronger than it. In the nearby forest monsters with unfathomable strength could be awaiting or disguised as common men powerful masters could be roaming around places hiding their true identity.

Cain wanted to to be powerful enough to blow such trouble away with a sneeze so he was giving his all since his childhood.
