Hubris had caused the commander to be caught. While preparing to make the first strike, the kaiju had overlooked the human spies running through their jungles the entire time they had been training. The warriors assumed that the humans were strictly performing reconnaissance, gathering intelligence for their species' leaders to better identify the kaiju's weaknesses. In truth, they had been gathering intel. Still, they had also been acting upon the intelligence they had gained, setting up traps and pitfalls for when the kaiju eventually backtracked towards the main settlement. After witnessing the devastation the raiding parties had caused amongst their cities, the human spies within the jungle felt a need to act, no longer waiting for the kaiju to fall into their traps. They wanted revenge.
Seeing the commander return down the path that afternoon, the human’s blood began to boil. They wanted to drop down from the trees as it approached and slaughter it where it stood. Unfortunately, they had been instructed otherwise to capture and bring the beast to one of the government’s secret black sites, where they would perform experimental testing on the creature. With the element of surprise, the capture was reasonably straightforward. The kaiju had been shocked by the human boldness and did not have time to react to how quickly they had moved around the giant animal. After securing it, the humans dosed the beast with a massive amount of sedative, not risking any attempted escape from the creature during transport to the facility a few hours away. Once the kaiju had fallen unconscious, the humans loaded the beast onto a large flatbed truck, secured it with straps, and began their trip toward the black site.
By late afternoon, the humans had arrived at the site and been ushered in quickly through the developmental facilities’ tall steel fences adorned with barb wired all along the top. Once through the gates and at the entrance to the building, armed guards stopped the truck, instructing the occupants to remain in the vehicle. Shortly after, a large bay door opened to reveal a group of soldiers and a crane operator. They swiftly hooked up the crane winch to the netting that the kaiju had been tied up in and lifted it from the bed of the truck, swinging the unconscious monster in through the opening before quickly closing the door, disappearing into the depths of the facility as quickly as they had emerged. With business finished, the armed guards that had first instructed the truck’s occupants to remain in the vehicle appeared at their passenger window suddenly, giving them a direct order to leave the property and forget that the exchange that had just occurred ever happened. With no further need for conversation, the humans left the horrific building behind, blissfully ignorant of the torture about to occur within the walls of the black site.
When the commander awoke from its drug-induced slumber, it took a moment to gather its wits. As it looked around, the environment had become unfamiliar. It last recalled walking along the path back to the training camp before everything went dark. Its mind had been completely wiped, and left behind was a murky fog that would not seem to clear. As it shook its head, trying to clear the fog, it began to notice its surroundings further. The ground it lay on was cold and metallic, smelling of harsh chemicals that burned the commander’s nose every time it inhaled. Around the small chamber, an entry door could be found for the humans, along with a large bay door that the commander assumed was how they transported it. Opposite the bay door, a shiny piece of glass covered nearly the entire wall. On the other two walls, machines hummed as vials of fluid were being pumped through tubes, syringes spread across tabletops awaiting whatever that fluid may be.

As the commander took in its surroundings, its rage began to boil. The humans had taken it hostage and housed it in a small metal box. Attached to its legs were thick metal shackles connected from the commander’s ankles to the floor with heavy-duty chains. As the kaiju reached up toward its neck, it found another shackle fastened tightly around its throat with chains leading upward, attaching to the ceiling high above the commander. The restraints enraged the kaiju, causing it to revert to its primal ways, thrashing violently within the chains to break free of its bondage. No matter the effort, the chains held fast. The more the commander struggled, the tighter the shackle around its throat became until it began to lift the kaiju off the floor by its throat.
Nearing unconsciousness, the commander slowly stopped lashing out against the chains, knowing that nothing could be done now to free it from its dire situation. As it calmed, the chains that hoisted the kaiju into the air began to loosen and eventually returned it to the metallic floor. The humans’ barbaric maneuver resulted in a massive gash across the commander’s throat, leaving bloody trails down its body before finally dripping onto the floor. The kaiju could smell the blood as it dripped off its body, becoming enraged once again at the fact that the pathetic humans would dare make a predator like itself bleed.
Angered, the commander tried one last time to break free of its shackles, making a last-ditch effort with all of its strength to shatter the metal chains that held it in place. In response to the outburst, the humans tightened the chain, lifting the kaiju from the floor, and dangled it in the middle of the room until it neared unconsciousness. The gash on the commander’s neck opened even further, pouring blood down its body and staining its skin a dark, crimson red. As the kaiju began to twitch from lack of oxygen, the humans let the chain attached to the roof go slack once more, dropping the kaiju down to the floor with a thunderous boom. Laying in a bloody heap on the floor, the commander knew it was defeated. Whatever was to come next, it would just have to endure.
