“Lady has come back!”
The hall fell silent, and the entire mansion seemed to tremble as the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the corridors, drawing closer.
“Axis, we’d better make a run for it,” Rida muttered, a playful panic in her voice.
“Ah? Why?” Axis barely had a chance to ask before Rida grabbed his arm, and they rushed toward the doors. Just as they were about to exit, however, a figure appeared, blocking their escape.
“Lady Hccede, may I inquire where you’re headed in such a hurry?” said an older maid, her voice calm but authoritative.
Rida froze in her tracks. “H…Helga! I was just showing Axis around the manor, that’s all,” she stammered, clearly caught off guard.
Helga’s sharp gaze softened as she nodded. “Is that so? Then pardon my interruption, but I must remind you that there are urgent matters requiring your attention, Lady Hccede.”
Rida sighed. “Helga, I can’t attend to them now; I need to settle Axis first.”
The maid’s stern gaze didn’t waver. “I’m certain the young master can wait, and I suspect he’s quite tired from the journey.” Helga turned to a young maid standing across the hall. “Show the young master Axis to his quarters.”
“Yes, ma’am!” the maid replied, stepping forward with a courteous bow.
“Pardon me, young master,” Helga said, turning her attention to Axis with a gracious nod. “Once Lady Hccede has attended to her duties, I will return and personally show you around the estate. In the meantime, please rest in your room. Thank you for your understanding.”
Axis returned her nod. “Of course, I’m quite tired myself.”
With a slight smile, Helga guided Rida away, who shot Axis a resigned smile and a quick wave as she disappeared down the corridor. The young maid gestured for Axis to follow her, leading him through the grand halls of the mansion. After a short walk, she stopped in front of a door and opened it, revealing a spacious, elegantly furnished room.
As Axis stepped inside, he took a moment to take in the surroundings. The room was filled with soft, natural light filtering through large windows, and the furniture was simple yet tasteful, with an airy layout that allowed the forest breeze to flow in freely. He walked over to the bed, feeling the weight of the day settle in, and sank down onto it, finally allowing himself a moment to rest.
After a few minutes, Axis got up.
“System,” Axis called out.

“These seem useful if I get into any tricky situations involving spirits,” Axis muttered. His gaze moved to the other items in the inventory, debating what to examine next.
“Let’s see what this Random-grade Item Box has to offer,” he murmured, tapping it lightly.
The box in his inventory shimmered before vanishing, and a small silver chest materialized in front of him, decorated with intricate carvings.
He placed his hand on it, feeling a twinge of anticipation. With a soft click, the chest opened, revealing a small, black book, adorned in silver patterns resembling thorns and veins connecting to the silver rose in the front of it.
